  1. I thought Essex played really well and I thought McGlynn looked better at Center than he did at Guard or Satele did at Center.

The pocket for Luck seemed to move around him rather than right up in his face and he had plenty of space to step up into.

  2. Heres another stat I found telling of being consistent with running the ball and not giving up on it, The Bears ran for negative yards 4 times (one more time then the Colts did) but they stuck with the run and got 114 yards but only ran the ball for 3.5 ypc, Vikings had 5 runs for negative yards and also had as many ypc as the Colts, The difference? they rushed 29 times (no Im not expecting an average quite that high, Im expecting and HOPING if Luck is going to survive his rookie year for an average of 25, My point is this, our run game was working better then people think, Adrian Peterson didnt run for 4-5 ypc on every down he simply broke a big gainer or two JUST LIKE Donald Brown and I honestly believe Brown has Peterson like capabilities, Brown likely has slightly less power but Peterson doesn't have a ton of power either he is no Jerome Bettis, Brown showed power on a couple runs and quite a bit of it, he can catch the ball out of the backfield and not many will catch him in the open field

I agree with most of what you said except for one thing, Brown doesn't have Peterson power, AP can truck some fools in the open field. Brown has good balance, he can take a shot in the side and stay running while going with the hit. He is a ping pong back.

  3. Yes I did watch it. And he drew the PI because because he was in the right spot at the right time. Not because of his all world skill set. What tackle on a screen in space? I'm pretty sure that was Davis. On the other hand, I saw him repeatedly wait for the ball carrier to come to him after he caught the ball, and then make a poor tackle attempt. The dude is below average. He's a stop-gap player. At best.

I just reached the game it was zibs, also part of being a good football player is being in the right place at the right time.

No one is saying he will be a pro bowler but I don't think anyone but you was expecting that. He is a solid player who shines on special teams.

  4. Yeah, he's playing okay. Definitely not one of our problem areas right now. Especially considering we had hardly any pass rush after the first couple series and Cutler had so much time to throw.

To be honest though, I haven't re-watched the game. Too frustrating.

Go watch it again, so much less frustrating when you rewatch. You see so many things that point to brighter days than during first viewing.

I don't normally watch games again but on a whim saw it on demand and said why not, much different game.

  5. Over the offseason, he seemed (in my opinion) to act like a diva. He kept going out of his way to make a big deal about his contract and acted like a diva. He would say things like "Yeah, the Colts haven't contacted me yet. I guess I'm not very high on their priority list". Meanwhile, Robert Mathis (who also wasn't signed) said nothing to the media and simply got a deal done

Fair enough but he is a wide out and they are all divas, well most of the good ones anyway, i will take diva Reggie over almost any other diva receiver over the last 10 years.

So for that he gets a pass from me

  6. I'm searching for positives, but there weren't many. This is a 2-14 team populated with rookies and a new coaching staff. It's expected.

I thought the same and then went back and rewatched the game. That game was a good first step for this team.

    Brown drops 2 first downs

Luck over throws Reggie on 2 first downs and1 possible really big gain.

Luck under throws a sure touchdown to Avery that gets picked off by an incredible catch.

Those were all mistakes that i don't think we make on a regular basis.

Losing freeney hurt as well, no more pressure after he went out.

I thought bethea hit hard and out corners played better on a rewatch than originally thought.

  7. No... not one to go to the extremes. I didn't say omg he's the worst ever. Tom has been in the league about 4 or 5yrs and was in Chucks system in Baltimore. The observation came from preseason and the opener. My point was I thought Tom would bring a PHYSICAL presence to the secondary but has been hesitant in his play. At the end of the day this is a forum for Colts fans to chat football so if he does have two picks and as many tackles next week that just means he had a good game.....

Go watch the game again, he hit hard when he had the chance, the one play he hesitated on that i can remember was on a pass to Marshall on the right in front of his zone and he more stayed in front if him and made him run sideways and let the line backers catch up, but in context i thought that was the smart play not many nfl safeties are winning a one on one battle with Brandon Marshall.

  8. It's not just that, he was barely noticable in the pre-season too. He looked bad more often than he looked decent.

Did you even watch the game? He made all the plays he had the opportunity to, including a one on one tackle on a screen in space. He drew the pass interference in the end zone against Hester.

He did really well yesterday, not pro bowl but then again he is not a pro bowler so i am not sure what was expected.

I myself, felt he played better than expected.

  9. I just got through the first half again and i have to say Donald is not the problem at all in fact i think Donald might be the best back for us right now.

When he gets hit behind the line, he goes down and holds onto the ball he doesn't lose yards on his own like a lot if backs do. But if, and that's a big if with or line, the give him 2 second of blocking he hits the line of scrimmage so fast that he always, i repeat always has a chance to break it.

The 18 yard touch down run was a thing of beauty. The line cracked left he cut back and then bounced off tacklers to score.

Is he a star? Nope but i think he could be.

  10. I didn't think Powers and Davis played all that bad, every catch I saw made on them they were right there. the big thing for me was all the open spots in the zones when we played Zone coverage.

heck Powers had a pick in the end zone running stride for stride but just couldn't hang on after jumping sky high to try.

Also there was an amazing pass by cutler into the soft spot in the cover two that just got over Powers outstretched arm where Marshall made the catch and then laid down to avoid getting lit up by Bethea.

Without a pass rush these guys wont be able to cover long enough period. But if we don't give the opposing QB 5-7 seconds to throw the ball they will be fine.

  11. Im certainly not a fan of changing a players position when he enters the NFL, sure it works from time to time but more often then not it dont, I like ho well Moala has played

I agree, he was the first one of our defensive players that came to mind when we decided to make the switch to the 3-4, I think He is going to be a really pleasant surprise when the season is all said and done.

  12. 1. Luck's Debut - I would like to see his compsure in the second half and down the stretch.

    2. Brown's Chance - I am looking forward to seeing how he does should he actually get feature back carries.

    3. Freeney and Mathis as Linebackers - Can they still reek havoc from back there?

    4. 3-4 Hybrid - How does this play out and how aggressive can/will it be

    5. Vontae Davis - Is he the shutdown corner we have been missing all these years?
