  1. I agree if I was ever planning on throwing it away, which should be added to the list of do not mention.

Basically I was trying to state I believe in "jersey wearing 101 rules" which can be applied to memoribilia. Basically, rules state do not wear player jerseys who are now playing for another team. Retired/staple players are acceptable and encouraged. I agree manning being an exception to this rule though, and I actually wasn't following the rules with my original comment. (oops)

I heard about these rules on the radio, ESPN. Thats actually how this Thread became an Idea. You don't have to believe in these rules, but many do. Google it if you don't believe me. Below is an example.

Jersey Wearing 101: 8 Essential Rules to Abide By

    Jefferson on 05 10, 2010

After being in Green Bay at Lambeau Field during week 1 of the NFL season and being in Chicago at Soldier Field for week 2, one thing that caught my eye was the inappropriate jersey wearing that was rampant among fans. Many people think they know the rules of jersey wearing but they’re often not spoken of and many times people neglect these rules. I have made it my personal mission to give the rules of NFL jersey wearing. Please note these same rules do not apply to any other sport, although some of these rules are universal.

    1. Jersey must be an active player, a hall-of-fame player or a player who was a staple in that teams recent or general history.

To me, this is the most important but yet most broken rule of jersey wearing. If I have to see another Cedric Benson or Anthony Thomas jersey at Soldier Field, or a Samkon Gado jersey at Lambeau, I think I will puke.

This rule seems easy to obey, yet, often times team’s actions of trading a player penalize a fan who bought that players jersey. You can only wear a traded played jersey if that player was a staple for that team for years and was productive in his time. A good example of this is a Randy Moss Vikings jersey.

So there is an arbitrary rule about me wearing what I want???

This is like the whole white and labor day deal.

Where what you want, don't look to ESPN(who has a store that sells jerseys so telling people to buy more jerses directly benefts them) for rules on hat to wear.

  2. I have no idea what you are talking about.

I still wear my Edge and Faulk Jerseys afterall they did play here and that is when I rooted for them. I don't have money to be throwing away memorabilia all hillbilly like, as you say.

It makes no sense to throw it away because the player isn't on the team anymore.

I use the Faulk jersey in particular when I am heading to new hostile territory as a sort of badge of honor. I didn't just start rooting for this team when Peyton got here.

  3. I disagree. I can see where you'd make that mistake, but I was always under the impression bandwagoning was atleast in the same sport. I'm not jumping to the ravens, and when reggie left, I didn't jump on the Laker bandwagon. I still watched colts game, but I wasn't religious like I was with Reggie and the Pacers until Reggie left.

    There's a difference I believe.

    Tom-A-toes - Tom-AH-toes

  4. Why would it be tough with Houston, SF, or the Jets? They would be championship contenders right away with Manning. The only question there would be will they gel in time to contend?

He is making a joke saying it would be tough for him to play for ALL of those teams at the same time ;)

  5. Before Peyton, I didn't miss a Pacer game. Reggie Miller was the main man and I had received so much enjoyment watching the Pacers when he was on board. After Reggie retired, the Pacers started loosing. (Not saying it was connected, but it didn't hurt lol) I lost interest, fell behind on roster moves so on so fourth.

During the time frame of which I was loosing interest in the Pacers, my interest in the Colts grew and grew. I watched the Colts before, but not like I have in the last 5 or 6 seasons. In these past seasons, Peyton, like Reggie, is the main man and really makes it fun to watch our boys in blue. But with him possibly departing, could this be another Pacer situation for me? Will the Colts start constantly loosing? Will the player that makes them funnest to watch, with his future with the colts in jeopardy, be the beginning of the end, start the decline in the fan base?

I hope Peyton is retained, because I think with Peyton, next season will be a very, very fun season to tune in for, if not the funnest.

That is what is called band wagon, sorry.

  6. In a 3-4 defense you want your outside linebackers to rush the passers as much if not more than you do your d-ends in a 4-3 defense. You count on your front three and two middle linebackers to be the run stoppers in a 3-4.

For what it's worth Herm Edwards thinks we will go to a 3-4 and expects us to keep both Freeney and Mathis and expects them to make the move to outside linebacker and thinks they will do just fine.

The biggest thing standing in the way of us going to a 3-4 is really don't have any of the front three for a 3-4. We could move a guy like Moala to end but then he is out of poistion. A guy like Anderson is probably going to be undersized for a 3-4 end. With that said if we make the move to a 3-4 we might have to live with that for a year or two till we get the peaces in place because you don't get all the peaces needed for a 3-4 in one off-season. The biggest MUST if we are really going to a 3-4 is that we have to find a couple of really big guys to play in the middle one to start to and at least one to back them up because right now we really don't have anyone big enough for a 3-4 DT.

Actually he is out of position as a 4-3 DT, he played 3-4 DE in college and was better suited there. He doesn't have the strength in the middle but can stand up and provide an edge.

I think He would be far more valuable as a 3-4 DE than as a 4-3 DT

  7. I was thinking the same thing. I'd like to see our owner be a little less eccentric and a little more focused on finding the RIGHT guy for the job. Now that Polian is gone, Irsay is showing his true colors. Not good news for Colts fans. Jim...quit playing games with fans on your phone and make a good hire, preferably someone with character.

Are you kidding me? You mean to tell me you work 100% of your life? You never listen to music? You never tell a joke?

And don't say "but I don't own a sports franchise" because that's a cop out.

He is a person and I or one am glad that we don't have a stuffy owner. The best owner in all of sports is Mark Cuban IMO

I say as long as the job is getting done then who are we to say that he has to be more like everyone else?
