  1. I'd say it's because by the time you get deep in the playoffs you are facing very good defenses and good defense tends to shut down good offense

AND the weather begins to work against even the best offenses...  Dan Fouts and team went from sweating and dehydration in the epic game in Miami to the following week playing in these conditions:  Air temperature was −9 °F (−23 °C), but the wind chill, factoring in a sustained wind of 27 miles per hour (43 km/h), was −37 °F or −38 °C (calculated as −59 °F or −51 °C using the now outdated wind chill formula in place at the time).

The best offense in the world will perform much, much worse in those conditions giving an advantage to any defense let alone a strong defense.

  2. Not after all the injuries. Ryan Mathews is a big loss.

Denver run defense is too good. We saw what happend to Oliver.

You don't realize that Ryan Mathews is due back in the next game or two.  Many of our injured should start returning.  IF we can survive with our 2s and 3s we're going to be deep and strong.

  3. Well... I'm prejudiced.  But if I stand back and try to be objective, Dallas' running game is head and shoulders above ours.  I like Gates a little better than Witten, especially around the end zone.  Our WRs are similar.  If we're healthy I like our D better.

If we went head to head (which I don't think we do this year) I like our chances assuming we start getting some players back.

  4. I honestly hope the Raiders don't - I don't want them getting the #1 pick, LOL!  They love to play the spoiler, so they could start to pull things together.

I don't want them to win too much, but I really don't want Carr to suffer the fate of his brother and get beaten to pieces.  He's a good man.

  5. Boy, I'd have to really think about it, but VJ is a clutch player.  He's a hard worker, great attitude (he got past his early drinking problem and the issues it brought).  Rivers and he were magic.

He has an amazing body awareness and ability to make the catch and keep in bounds.  I would love to see him back home with us but I'm pretty sure we don't have the salary cap room.  We're still in salary cap h*** until next year.  Thanks AJ Smith...

  6. Rivers had a meltdown every time a play or series went against

IMO this is why he should never be in the elite QB discussion

That comment is total bull****  Rivers is intense, he's passionate, but he never "melts down"  It's how he's built and everyone that knows him, coaches him and plays with him totally respects his passion.  Be careful judging what you don't have a clue about it shows a great deal of ignorance.

I have watched every single game he's ever played - last night was as intense as I've ever seen him.  The frustration was a passion to win the game, his passion kept his team and the players around him fired up and believing they could go after it.  Even while playing with 1/2 the starting D, the 4th & 5th string running backs and about 1/2 the original starting O Line (and I mention that as a reality - but you won't hear Rivers do so).

He never complains, makes excuses or does anything but try to figure out a way to win the next game and keep his team in the picture.

No great QB is content to calmly let a game slip away.

  7. Our coaching staff is so tight lipped about any of that.  We don't have any idea where any of our players are in getting back.  We had hoped for this game for a couple of them but obviously that didn't work out.

Boy Brandon Flowers being lost for this game really changed the potential outcome.  If he were in and Jason healthy this game could have gone very differently.  Add in Melvin Ingram and Attouchu and we may have a different outcome next meeting.
