  1. I obviously must have missed things as I only saw the first quarter. I was really disappointed in what I saw - glad to know things went better later on. I was constantly reminding myself that he had only 2 weeks to learn a complicated offense so wasn't expecting too much. It's good to have an experienced back up.

  2. Some of you sound like you just received a Dear John letter.

I hate that Bob Sanders is in a Chargers uniform, but I hope he stays injury free and has a great season.

That's exactly how it feels to see LT in a green uniform, yuck!!!!

I'm enjoying watching Bob play and inspire the guys around him. When healthy he's amazing.

  3. She's a Chargers fan but has openly stated in the past that the Colts are her second favorite team. So she probably is genuinely concerned for Manning. Well at least as much as the Charger part of herself will allow. lol

You got that just about right  !!! I will always have to root for my Chargers first, but I never want the victory to be without Peyton, it wouldn't mean as much if it were. I wish him nothing but a long career and the ability to choose when he retires.

  4. Teams throwing money at free agents to win the big one doesn't seem to pan out very well in the long run. Teams like the Patriots that grow their own and find bargains they can mold seem to get to the top and stay there much longer. I just don't imagine that at the end of the season they'll end up being the "dream team" they're being hyped as right now.

  5. As hard as I try, I don't get the hating on a former player. It isn't anything new here in this forum, or with this player. I saw it when LT left San Diego. These guys give their all, play hard and move on because they have a short time to make a living in their sport. I have no doubt that Bob gave the Colts everything he had to give and will do the same for SD. Why the need to tear him down?

  6. I've never been very worried that he won't get out there and play, I'm more concerned with can he hold up over a long season with being hit. It's nasty to think about, but there are enough guys that will aim high if given a shot at him and he took way too many shots last year.

  7. I really hope he can fully recover, obviously... but most important is that he not end up with a permanent, debilitating injury. The rest of his life could be horrific if he tries to be the hero and takes a shot.

I've said for years that the Colts needed to have a better quality backup. Sad now that when we one is needed he isn't there and ready to step in.

  8. Loved Jamal for years as our NT, but the comment that maybe there isn't much left in the tank is more true than not. He's well past his prime and I'm not sure he would bring much to the Colts, though if he could I think it would be great. Being on a good team might bring back that spark, in his day he was simply amazing.

  9. Explain why the Colts ownership believes #18 is supreman. From Sorgi to Painter we have no backup QB. What if we go to the playoffs and Manning goes down. What is the plan then? I watched New England this first week of practice football and their back up QB annihilated San Deigo. I thought I was watching Brady until I snapped to the jersey numbers. With his neck now in question the Colts deserve to win nothing if they don't believe in depth. I had a neck injury a while back and rest assured it is never right, one litte jerk and your are back in therapy.

Just to clarify, New England didn't play San Diego, they played Jacksonville.

  10. We just moved and decided to not get television. We weren't watching much and enjoy not having it in the home now - we read, do projects and talk to each other more. I'm good with that ... until it comes to FOOTBALL season! Fortunately, we've gotten NFL rewind the last couple of years even with NFL Sunday Ticket. It's great. The hardest thing to do is avoid accidentally getting the scores if you don't want to know.

On the west coast we can watch the game(s) after 9 PM so it isn't bad at all. It's a bargain.

  11. If you live on the shoulders of one player, you potentially die on the shoulders of one player - it's the double-edged sword of excellence. Peyton is unique and can't be replaced. Yet one man does not a team make. The balance of the needs for top quality team mates, the salary balance and paying a unique in history player what he deserves is what makes this league so interesting.

I am going to assume that the team and Peyton will work that balance out and I'm not sweating it. However, I am concerned that the second neck injury and surgery will signal the shortening of Peyton's career and they have to get serious about grooming a replacement.

  12. We're going to miss Sproles, but sadly it was time to let him go. With what we have left to spend, we have other priorities and there are a couple of people that can fill in for what the one might mouse did. I would have liked to have seen the $14 million we spent on him via franchise tag have been a long term contract, but then I don't run the front office...

He's a really special player. Nothing more fun than watching him pass block and upend a guy twice his size. He's amazing in space and he's a hard worker with absolutely no attitude. He'll do what ever he's asked. Glad he's going to have a good QB to throw to him.

  13. Slight derail....

This town ain't big enough for two Pepe's.

    lol! Too funny!

As to Peyton's bulging disks - I don't know the medical prognosis, but my husband has disk problems in his lower back and it's completely disabled him and NO ONE is hitting him day in and day out. This repeat injury has me very worried.

  14. Yeah, keep him for that much money. More than Polamalu and Ed Reed? Weddle is a fine player, but he's not *that* good.

Wonder what that means for Bob...

Bob's already agreed to terms, just can't sign until Friday I think. I don't remember the terms, but it was considered to be a good deal with a lot of upside for the Chargers.
