Think he will try to lure DeFilippo with him as OC? Or do you think he will stay in Philly and take Reich's spot? Word is he is a hot commodity also.
DeFlippo is already inked in Minnesota.

If we stay then it is Barkley.
I think we are trading that pick though.
Cleveland won't pass on Barkley at No. 4.
However, if we trade with Denver then we can still get Chubb.
If we trade with the Jets then we lose both of them.

Well to be fair...Doug Pederson actually called the plays but Reich was the OC and I'm sure he had input on the game plan. Saying Reich out OC'd McDummy may be a bit of a stretch but I think we got an upgrade over Josh in terms of commitment and integrity.
It is my story and I will tell it the way I want to.
BTW, yeah I know DP called the plays in Philly. Doesn't really matter though. It's not like Houston where they don't even have an OC.

But maybe that's not who Reich wants?
Maybe. Maybe not.
IF he chooses Bevell then it makes sense though. They already speak the same language.

Chris Ballard has been in contact with Darrell Bevell & had no issues occured last week he would IMO already have the Colts OC job ,
The Giants are late to the party it could cost a little more but if he was Ballards man before he still is . I say he's IN ....
Like I said in another thread. Bring him in.
Frank Reich ran a version of the West Coast in Philadelphia and Bevells ran it in Seattle.
Good fit.

Especially since Kraft told McDaniels "I am your father".
Not exactly. Someone actually recorded the conversation.

To be clear Shefter never said it in a tweet but discussed what he felt or heard in a show and someone else tweeted it out
LOL.
He claimed to know both were the favorite. Set himself up pretty well to be right.

That is great news now can we please get Darrell Bevell ???
I am all for expanding the West Coast offense.
He fits what Reich is doing too.
Bring him in!

Yes but it was Campbell first

I think the trick is to tweet that all of them are the favorites. It is the sure bet to get it correct.

It's Official. Per everywhere. WOW! What a turn of events!
We luck out by not inking McDoofus, and instead we find a GEM of a coach.
Let's not forget that Frank Reich beat McDoofus in Super Bowl LII. He out OC'd him. (Sort of)
It's awesome to bring one of our own back to Indiana! Not only is this a great PR move, but this is an absolutely fantastic football hire.
Welcome Home Frank!!!!!

seeing the colts really do not need another safety since Geathers and Hooker are in the two safety positions, and the colts need help on the Oline, if the colts trade back hopefully its to get Nelson or McGlinchey. Call me bias as I am a big Notre Dame fan, but I think those are the two best Linemen in the draft, next being Alex Cappa from Humboldt State.
Im just curious on what the Jets would have to give up in order to move up. hopefully two first rounders and this years 2nd rounder so the colts first three picks could be....
1st) Nelson
2nd) Malik Jefferson
2nd) Alex Cappa (Tackle from Humboldt State)
I think an offensive line of
LT - Castonzo
LG - Mewhort
C - Kelly
RG - Nelson
RT - Cappa
that offensive line right there would be pretty good and would protect Luck from day 1.
I am a huge Nelson fan, and I like Cappa too.
Not sure if Mewhort is coming back, but I like that line.
My guess would be, the Jets would give us their 2 second round picks in this years draft.

The only problem I have with this idea is relying on Geathers in an even more physical position.
His neck is either healed or not healed. This is football. At safety, he is coming downhill. At linebacker the ball carrier is coming down hill. Collisions are going to happen regardless of where he lines up.
In my opinion, if his neck is still a concern then maybe playing football is not a good idea. He is playing so hopefully he is doing so because he is fully healed.

I agree with most of this, but I don't think it's necessarily going to be zone coverage the majority of the time.
I have been watching some Dallas tape. They play a lot of cover 2 shell.
They play some man coverage, but mostly zone.
The corners give a lot of cushion on most plays, but they do press on occasion.
That said, he might not implement the exact same defense Dallas runs, but he will likely implement most of it.
Good thing for us, he can morph this into his own style and we could see more man, more press, and we don't have to stay in cover 2 as much as Dallas does.

You have an opinion based on no data. As a linebacker coach, he isn't drawing up the schemes
Correct. At this stage in the game, we are going on what "others" have told "others" about him.
His was hired, because people thought he was worthy. That is the logical step before anyone gets hired/promoted.
How good of a coach he is... well that is yet to be determined, and we will find out over the next couple of years or so.

Did the OP talk to Eberflus already or something? How does he know exactly what kind of defense we will run?
It would be nice if I could attribute it to visions. I would concentrate on lotto numbers. However, I assure you that I am just as mortal as anyone else on this board.
I just have good listening skills.
Ballard spilled the beans in yesterdays press conference.

Anyone think Farley starts at SS next year and Geathers only plays in special sub packages at lb? Also what is the possibility they might bring Bostic back. He looked like he was starting to play better as the year went along.
I think both Farley and Hooker are the starting safeties.
Geathers is a logical choice for WILL.

I believe Mingo could play weak or strong. Simon is agile enough for middle or strong and Geathers could play weak. Simon and Geathers need to prove they can shake their injury problems. If we drafted Minkah Fitzpatrick it would allow us to move Geathers.
I am very intrigued by this suggestion. Sometimes it takes the right fit to bring the talent out in a player.
Mingo might be an absolute stud at SAM in this 43 zone defense.

i dont get why so many people want to move geathers to linebacker
he seems like a safety to me
The WILL in this type of defense has the ability to really shine. If he is athletic enough then he can be a game wrecker.
I think some of us can picture lightning striking twice for us, because a similar defense made Cato June look like an all star, and Geathers has a better skill set than Cato had.
If you’re a betting person then lay money on Geathers moving to WILL in this defense. In my opinion, odds are stacked that way.

I was actually responding to his title more than his content. But I see how that doesn’t flow well. I fixed it.

People are jumping to conclusions. Make no mistake, Eberflus was McDaniels' guy, and months ago was rumored to be Patricia's replacement in New England, so I'm having a hard time seeing some sort of conscious effort to return to "old Indy" here. Nothing Ballard has said since arriving has led me to believe that. His pursuit of McDaniels would suggest otherwise.
As far as what Dallas did on D, Eberflus wasn't the DC. Who knows what he'll do as a DC, and the next HC and management will have plenty of influence on it.
No jumping to conclusions. Chris Ballard spelled it out pretty well yesterday during his press conference.

Our existing off-ball linebacker crew is going to make it very challenging to move to a 4-3. We will probably need to replace all 3 positions through free agency and the draft.
I am looking at our roster and trying to figure out who is going to play where. I got to tell you, I don't see a lot to work with.
George, Jeremiah
Grace, Jermaine
Morrison, Antonio
Walker, Anthony
Sankey, Darnell
Out of this group we need a WILL, a MIKE, and a SAM.
There is no 43 MIKE on this roster. There is no way Morrison can play in a 43 defense at all. Can you imagine him dropping into coverage 50% of the time? I don't see him surviving for long. Logic says we need to give him a mercy cut so he can at least try to find another team.
The rumors about Anthony Hitchens make a ton of sense. This is a much bigger need than many people realize.
Walker might be able to play SAM, but this is the temporary solution.
Maybe move George to WILL for now. Sadly, I think our best 43 WILL was tragically killed on Sunday by a drunk driver.
Maybe we repeat history (Cato June) and move Geathers to WILL.

I mean it sounds so bad to just let them go but...the head coach should be able to hire their own staff. I'd rather the coach be comfortable with his environment then be put with people he probably doesnt want to be with. Plus what if they were sent as spys by Robert Kraft and Bellychick?
We should keep them.
You think they're going to have a chip their shoulders?

Frank Reich HC - #3 is Barkley or Chubb

It is kind of my plan too.
I think our first trade partner should be Denver. They should be our first choice. That said, they might make a deal with the Giants.
