  1. http://www.espn.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/25901330/predicting-2019-nfl-offseason-dominoes-free-agents-trades-cause-ripples

Colts signings in some of the scenarios.

    Ansah DE:

    Colts sign:

    Ansah 4yr $64m $35guar

If Raiders sign Ansah, it has us signing:

    Za'Darius Smith 4yr $48m

    Earl Thomas S:

If Thomas signs with SF, it has the Colts signing:

    Steven Nelson CB 4yr $32m

Then trading pick #26 while Colts get 4th rounder back for:

    Xavien Howard CB Miami

Just thought it was worth a post.

Go check it out, has a few players on there, explanations are pretty good, at least for the Colts side.

Can anyone explain the Baldwin and Stauskas trade to the Pacers..to me?

Houston gave us a second round draft choice with the two players who we immediately release and its worth it to them because they get under the luxury tax 'bar' and save millions.

But how could we accept the two players without sending equal contracts or picks in return?

Houston is in tax trouble, and have no roster room for the players. So if they waive him, they still have to pay those taxes.

They trade us a 2nd round pick, to take them on and waive them, because we still have a little cap space to fit them under.

Free 2nd round pick(small cap hit) plus Wesley Matthews is a pretty solid day in my book.

6.5 mil is what im projecting. Its not like hes gonna get 10+. Its a good deal

You are actually only projecting $5.6m. 3yr $17m

I don't think it is a horrible overpay. Maybe to long of a contract with 3yrs and injury history.

    Maybe:

    2yr $10m $6m guar.

2019:$6m cap hit all guaranteed(since we have so much loot this season)

    2020:$4m cap hit no guaranteed

That would drop from your AAV of $5.6m to $5m.

Might be a slight overpay, maybe, maybe not, but like was said. Ballard mentioned him highly and he is a guy you reward, but with protections cap wise.

  4. There was a lot that went into the loss.

First drive as has been mentioned. Ebron drops an easy pass that would of kept drive going.

Second drive we passed 3 times, but Jones tipped pass on that drive he had 2 hands on Nelsons face mask at one point, then still had 1 hand on it as he tipped pass. Should of been 15yd penalty.

Third drive we gad 3rd and 1 after 2 runs and decide to pass and lose 4yds.

All 3 of those drives should of kept going. Put us behind the 8 ball early.

    Moving forward.

The ref on Chiefs last drive before halftime rolled the clock when player was forced out of bounce making us use our last time out. Same ref on our drive to end the firat half, rolled the clock when we went out of bounce. So should of had a time out and more time to complete drive to end the half.

Missed FG killed us, no excuse for that, but should of scored TD with having more time from my statement above.

Holding call on Smith was atrocious, non PI downfield was bad. Huge block in back no call on KC on 1 of their big plays.

Fountain, dropping meaningless TD was horrible to.

  5. Plus the drive started inside the 10. It was most definitely the best move to get to half and run that clock from there.

Situation changed with the PI, but ultimate goal starting inside your 10 is to get out of the half without giving up points to your opponent, especially with a 21-0 lead.

Just so happened that we almost lucked into 3 extra points. Would of been a bonus, thats it.

Definitively not worth harping about, some will complain about anything.

Shut up and enjoy it, quit knit picking little irrelevant things when there is no need to.

  6. As soon as Coutee took both hands off the ball it started to come out. His hands weren't big enough to hold on to the ball. Definitely shpuld of been a touch back, but it's water under the bridge.

  7. I don't want to bring in AB, but it would be at a bargain for us. Pittsburgh would have to pay the remainder of Signing Bonus money, subtracting $3.8m/ yr of his cap hit.

    2019 - $22,165,000 - $3,800,000

    2019 cap hit: $18,365,000

    2020 - $18,340,000 - $3,800,000

    2020 cap hit: $14,540,000

    2021 - $19,540,000 - $3,800,000

2021 cap hit: $15,740,000($3,240,000 dead cap)

    3yrs - $48,465,000 with only $12,220,000 in guaranteed money

So really it is a pretty solid deal for us, still don't want his pi$$ pour attitude on our team.

  8. I'm with you. Despite all the sacks the Giants were pretty close to having a winning record. (5-11)

The defense really let them down on multiple occasions.

I can think of 3 games off the top of my head they probably ahould of won.

Panthers game early in season - Gano hit 62yd Fg to beat them.

Colts game - no explanation needed here.

Cowboys game week 17- Eli did everything to win that game defense let Cowboys come back.

Those last 2 games of the year were without Beckham as well.

That right there would have them at 8-8.

Now looking back at there schedule/results.

Games thet were in they could've/should've won.

    Falcons game

Eagles game week 12 - defense allowed them to come back from 19-3 deficit, then to come down at end of game to win it.

Jaguars game week 1 - Although Eli threw pick 6 that really decided that game.

Anyway, thats to much looking back at Eli's season.

I did so, because outside of some untimely sacks and int's I thought Eli had a pretty good season.

He will be in Jacksonville next year if not on the Giants.

He should finish his career in New York. They need to get him some better line play and scheme the ball out quicker more.

Pretty sure the following is true and I think it's relevant to the questions being asked.

Lets say the Colts keep him on the PS for the purpose of getting him into playing shape. Another team in need of CB help says "thank you very much for getting him in playing shape " and puts a claim in on him. I believe this is not necessarily the end of the story. Collins could take that offer to the Colts and the Colts could offer him a better deal . He's pretty much a "free agent " and bottom line is he doesn't "have to" sign with any team.

Who knows , it wouldn't surprise me if the Colts and Collins have a deal where the Colts have the right to match any offer he gets. Pretty sure this is the case and I'm thinking there was a player about a year ago that actually elected to stay on his teams practice squad rather than go to a team that claimed him . I believe the team kept him with monetary compensation.

It was the former IU QB(Nate Sudfeld(sp?), he stayed in Philly when we put a claim in on him.

Yes, you are correct. If he gets an active roster offer, he doesn't have to accept it. He is free to though.

Often times, however, you see guys have a good season and demand elite money (and plenty of teams will be spending, probably overspending $ to boost their OL this offseason).  If Glowinski demands elite money, I think we're probably just fine with what we have in house

Would be a good Comp pick.

I'm not asking this to be rude, I'm really curious... But why?  I like Gore and I think he's a great football player and I enjoyed watching him as a 49er and I'm glad to see him doing about as well as expected as a Dolphin, but he didn't do anything special as a Colt so why honor him?  He was just a free agent signing.

Because he is a 1st ballot HOF, and a 1st class teammate and we are lucky to have such a player, play for our franchise.

He played great and laced the cleats up every week. Played damn well for the shambles our line was in.

We're not retiring his jersey or anything, but a quick little thank you announcement would be ok, and what a 1st class organization like the Colts would/should do.?
