    Drake Maye time?

Colts won't be anywhere near in position to draft Drake and AR5 is our QB going forward until he retires or wants out of Indy.

Drake is the real deal though along with Caleb and the franchises that acquire them should be very good for years.

If AR5's career doesn't go like the great Bert Jones and Lucks the Colts with competent coaching and GM'ing should also win and contend for Decade+.

I am probably in the minority but I think this was a bad contract.  RB's are a dime a dozen and their production is affected more by the OL than anything else.

No reason to pay one more than an average place kicker.

Not really, the chart below shows RB's are paid more than a dime a dozen

Highest-paid RBs in per year average: Christian McCaffrey: $16.01M Alvin Kamara: $15M Jonathan Taylor: $14M Derrick Henry: $12.5M Nick Chubb: $12.2M Josh Jacobs: $11.79M Aaron Jones: $11.5M

In the NFL the pool of money is finite and pretty defined.  So “worrying about money that isn’t” mine is the same as worrying about “acquiring/keeping talent and playmakers.”

The teams that go for it don't seem to have problems acquiring talent. The teams that don't go for it supply the teams that do go for it with talent. haha

Bears will probably tank but Williams will stay for his senior year. Wouldn't that be a hoot.

Colin Cowherd said there are rumors he's already expressed he doesn't like the bears and cards organizations.

Cowherd said he might pull a Elway/Eli.

He's already a Super Star and practically a sure shot to transform  any organization (though the bears/cards would be a true challenge) according to many. I doubt the NFL would want him going to just any team. This could be similar to what Elway did to the colts. There are some enviable teams that may not finish far from making a trade for him very doable.....broncos, pats, rams if Stafford get injured, Steelers??

I hope he lands in the nfc.... Bold prediction made with a lead pencil: Caleb Williams and AR5 will have a 1-2 rivalry similar to Peyton/Brady.....Elway/Marino/Kelly.

Unitas & Bert Jones didn't have any QB rivalries because they were clearly the best in their prime.

Brewers and Marlins are doing this Wicked Tuna Fishing GIF by National Geographic Channelor this Fishing Fail GIF by Conesulfoz-I have been saying all year that the Brewers are phonies. Their fans were mocking the Cubs for not getting, now it's my turn. What good does it do to win your division than get bounced in the Wildcard Round? A bunch of chumps.

Regarding the Marlins, Chelsea Peretti Eye Roll GIF by Brooklyn Nine-Nine-good for the Marlins, they wreck it for everyone else and just get dominated by the Phillies.

My brother was rooting for the cubs and can't stand the marlins..he was mad they scored A run and wished they got shut out lol.

I haven't seen my Yankees yet.....how many byes did we get???:funny:

Your GIF of the guy deep sea fishing reminded me of me getting a off shore slow pitch jigging rod even though I don't have a boat to go deep sea fishing.I'm sick... I'm A Tackle-holic and had to have it....I just had to get one. I use it for bass fishing, I love it..

Maybe one day I'll use it for what it was meant for and catch a big red snapper or tuna. For now it's a freshwater bass rod. Haha

With Federer retired and Nadal on his long road to recovery from his injuries, I’m relishing this short term rivalry between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic that seems to be budding.

I’m heading to Cincinnati for the men’s semifinals game this Saturday with the hope that I get to see one of them in a prime time game. 🤞

There's A small tournament near me in Delray and doesn't draw any top players. Sometimes Isner comes. ..... I would like to try to Block his serve back......assuming I could.see it. :funny:

This Alcaraz kid is amazing! I grew up watching Tennis = players like Borg, McEnroe, Sampras, and of course Nadal and Ferderer, Djokovic now. When it is all said and done, this kid my be the best of all-time. It is way too early to tell but if he can play at an elite level for the next 10 years, who knows?

I haven't seem that much of him but seen him beat Dokie at Wimbledon. I don't think I seen anyone cover the court and make shots like he did. It was amazing Dokie took him to 5 sets and lost only  by one break.

Did you honestly play jai alai?   To me that may be the most dangerous sport.  I wasn't that impressed until I held a ball they use.   I didn't understand the game. But I respected it

We started with lacrosse balls playing behind shopping centers. My cousin and I progressed to amateur courts in miami(tjere were none in palm beach) and we joined a amateur class in Ft. Pierce which was a real Jai-alai frontons with of course the rock hard pelota....that was dangerous because we were front courters and  had to hope the back counters were good.enough not to accidentally throw at us lol. We fortunately survived getting hit but a couple times we had to call 911 for lesser players getting injured.

The better we got the better the players we played with which became safer.....except they threw harder and the pelota's velocity increased.

I was a pretty good amateur player and my cuz made pro when the Jai-alai dates increased and they needed twice the number of players.

Yes, its a Dangerous sport. The pelota  is rock hard and some  of those pro's can sling it 140-150 mph. Ironically my cousin's career ended not by playing Jai-alai but breaking his leg riding a Ninja motorcycle.

Those were fun days and now I have to be pleased catching a 2 pound bass. :funny:

Jai-Alai? That’s so cool! Very old school (considering it’s 14th century lol)

Florida, including west palm beach had jai-alai frontons. One day my aunt Rose brought some cestas home and her son and me started playing with a lacrosse ball behind shopping center walls. We were awful.at the beginning but we quickly got better and better and started going to Miami to amateur jai-alai courts. Then we started playing the real jai-alai courts when they were closed. My cousin and I were close in talent but he was  just slightly better, especially at scooping. And I started concentrated on other stuff like business etc...while his dream was to be a professional jai-alai player and started playing/practicing more than me. When Jai-alai  dates became year round the frontons  needed more players for Florida and up east. So he made it as a pro and played a couple seasons before he broke his leg in a motorcycle accident.

Playing Jai-alai was my all time favorite sport, not the most lucrative paying sport but playing on a court and catching a rock hard pelota at 140 mph is so exhilarating and awesome.....and dangerous LoL.

I wouldn't trade my experience playing amateur(I won 2 amateur tournaments and my cuz finished 2nd to me) for nothing and neither would my cuz. He played at Palm beach, Daytona and Mexico.

I heard going down a hill on skis is a great feeling too.

When I was younger I knew a lot of retired Indiana teachers who were “snowbirds” that traveled to live in Florida during the winter. I’m only 35 so I’ve got a ways to go,  but I’ve already thought of having a place more to the south to go to in the distant future.

I’m fortunate enough to live in southeast Indiana where we have a decent ski resort, that makes the winters worth it at least while I’m young!

I've always played sports my whole life, including Jai-Alai, but I know skiing is not something  I would be able to do.

    Props to you.

My casino is 1 1/2 hours from me. I go to cripple creek when I gamble. Play Blackjack and Poker generally. I'm actually horrible at sports betting tbh. The only time I'm profitable is when I bet on conspiracy theories in the playoffs or a sports championship lol. I'll get that right more than half the time.

    Love gambling!

I'm not lucky(to get good hands) or good enough at poker. Last I checked we don't have blackjack or roulette, which would be my preferred games.

Like you, I try to guess the conspiracy theory in the NFL and its a guessing game and sometimes it gets me and I miss on obvious wimners. But like you, I'm right more than wrong.

But betting baseball is my expertise and my bread & butter.

I like/love gambling less than people think. Its just that I was exposed to it at such a young age and really became good at it at a young age. My dad use to go at the dog track every night along with momma and his brothers and family. I started reading and handicapping the programs when I was in grade school and sent bets out with momma. I had a Dresser full of money when I was in the 5th grade.  Lol

My Dad was considered one of the top handicappers and people were always near him asking him "what's good"? I learned from him and read a lot about handicapping including a book by Jack Fink " The art of Handicapping" which helped a lot. My brother had handicapping articles published in "The Gambling Times" magazine!  My dad also went into the business and owned greyhounds and a kennel.

I was a like a veteran when I finally became old enough to sneak in at the track. In those days you needed to be 18 or 21 for admittance. I started when I was 15 lol.

Sadly because of PITA, there is no more greyhound racing in Florida. The Palm Beach Kennel Club still operates with simulcast horse races and poker.

How do you like living in Florida? A lot of my family have moved there over the years. My wife and I discovered we’re more into the mountain scene.

I really like it. The summers are hot and humid but the winter is great. In my early life I I thought about moving to California,. especially SF because of the cool temps. But because of various factors I didn't, especially leaving my mom so far away. Both states accommodated my interests like golf, tennis, beach, and fishing but Cali didn't have greyhound racing which I loved and successfully supple!melted my income with...

But the beaches here are warmer than California so I really prefer that. We really enjoy going to the beach and fish the surf too.

A lot of people, that can afford it, have condos here and some where else like up east and split their time here in winter and somewhere else in summer.

The summers here aren't for everyone BUT the winter months are great, especially if its am alternative to very cold regions.

I only read a page and a half of this thread. Just got back from the casino and had to comment.

    WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! haha

So happy to have Taylor back! This will give Richardson someone to work with for both of their rookie contracts. This team just got much better today! Lets win the division!

    Agree 100%.

How far is your casino from you? Hard Rock in Hollywood is about 50 miles from me and traffic really starts to get heavy once you near Delray/Boca and of course gets heavier the nearer you get to Ft. Lauderdale.

I prefer roulette over the machines & poker but we don't have it here. Seminole Indians hopefully get the sports betting legalized and then ill probably go their more often unless our local track gets a piece of the pie. It would make things a lot better than betting overseas.

Glad you and I have another thing in common. ....GAMBLING!!! haha

I only worry about them money if it is preventing my team from building a strong team. I don't like giving one player 15%+ of the salary cap.

Well naturally the less you give player A the more you have to give player B etc....

But if a player is worth the money or even if the amount is somewhat in the ballpark its better to have him than not have him..

Teams that are trying to win and acquire talent usually find creative ways to manipulate the cap. In the Colts case, its actually more about affording less money being in a small market than the cap.

But small market or not, Irsay always says its all about 'winning', and I'm pleasantly surprised he made this happen after earlier statements, and made the colts better and more fun to watch....at least theoretically.

Today is a good day for not just colt fans, but AR5 and the rest of the offense.
