  1. I'm thinking it must be so difficult for players to physically be ready and have their legs ands body recover for a Thursday game, but perhaps the Colts having so many young bodies will help them be more ready? I know Andrew said already when asked about this (recovering) that being 23 really helps but it's similar for T.Y., probably A. Q. Shipley, Freeman, Costanzo, Ballard, Allen, Carter, etc., ect.

Also Coach Arians was raving about Hickman's play on Sunday so maybe we'll see a little more of the young reserves on Sunday and use our bench.

    What do people think?

  2. Colts (Irsay) made the right decision when they (he) hired Ryan Grigson. Everything, AND I MEAN EVERYTHING, has been the result of that hire (Freeman, retaining Mathis, clearing away Bracket/Clark/Addai, Avery, trading up for T Y, Arians, Redding, Etc.), I could go on and on about how many right moves Ryan has made and how many of the moves have inproved the team right now and set us up for a better long term future.

Irsay deserves much credit for believing in Grigson and vesting authority and trust in him, Grigson deserves much credit for selecting Pagano and trusting him to teach a new football and belief system, and the football gods smiled on us when the Steelers stupidly got rid of Arians.

The Colts are flush with right decisions in the last 9 months.

  3. All I can say is, as I sit and watch Luck continue to scramble play after play (it sure seems like every play, bur I'm sure it's not), I wonder to myself "where's his line at?" Holy maceral! I see folks on these threads mention how our line is improving and giving all these stats. I realize they are improving, but I would like to see what Luck could do if he had a little time to think behind the line. I hope we finally get to that point at some time. Look at Brady, I swear sometimes it seems like he can go order a cup of coffee, drink it and then come back and throw the ball. Maybe it's just me.

I agree with the part about Brady and a clean pocket that sometimes seems to last forever....but I think the middle of our line has been stronger than they are given credit for in pass blocking....I can't count how many times Luck has been able to climb the pocket to escape outside pressure and complete a pass downfield.... that gives me some confidence in Luck's ability to survive the season and the ongoing improvement of the line.

  4. Mathis & Freeney as the outside backers and Angerer & Freeman on the inside

Throw in Conner Hughes Fokou Harvey and Hickman

WOW I like playing with those LBs and we'll need great play from them all to beat Miami

  5. Bert had a more "lanky" build and look to him if you ask me especially in the way he moved and threw. As for talent, Bert is the closest comparison (ever in a Colts uniform) you can make to Andrew but I prefer not to ponder this comparison because Bert Jones' durability or lack of it first diminished his play then prematurely ended his career before he could ever reach his full brilliance and potential. Let's all hope that point of comparison between these two great Colts never needs discussion again.

The Colts history is sso unique if you ask me, when the Colts have had a great QB (Unitas, Jones, Manning and now Luck?) they have had good and great teams. When the Colts have not had a "superstar" QB they are never a "good" team.

  6. Dont get me wrong, he is good and will improve eventually but right now Andrew luck has the 2nd worse completetion percentage in the league among 33 starting quarterbacks, at 54.2, 1st is mark Sanchez with 48.2(wow). Andrew luck needs to start making smarter and more accurate throws. Letting someone like Blaine gabbert,Brandon weeden,Alex smith, cam newton, and Ryan tannehill have higher %'s is embarrassing, he must improve

Yes like if Luck really cared he would concentrate on always taking the underneath throw to help his stats regardless of down and distance so that he would look more like the #1 pick on paper.....Really is that the kinda of agreement you really expect to get with this kind of post?

Well sorry, but that's an absurd thng to focus on and If it's so unacceptable then maybe you should call for Luck's benching or you could realize that just maybe you're overreacting.

  7. 24-20 Colts. Colts scored 21 vs Bears (and should have scored 24) they'll be capable of getting that against a Vikings D that's not as good as the Bears D. I think our D will play better....Vikings will move the ball pretty well but we'll get more stops that will force them into field goals instead of touchdowns and that will provide the margin of victory.

  8. Freeney was out there for 9 plays

Play 1-lined up in 2 point stance and dropped back in coverage left side

Play 2-False Start on RT Carimi(#72)- Freeney in 3 point stance on the right side

Play 3-Lined up on Right Side in 3 point stance (double teamed)

Play 4-Two point stance on the right side (ran himself out of the play)

Play 5 two point stance lined up on left side bull rushed on Carimi, looks like that caused Cutler to throw the ball early (Pick 6 for Freeman)

Play 6 two point stance lined up on right side was rushing

Play 7 Freeney in two point stance on the right side and dropped back in coverage

Play 8 Freeney in 3 point stance on the right side ran himself out of the play (really it was good pass blocking by Webb more then Freeney running himself out of the play in my opinion)

Play 9 Freeney in 2 point stance on the right side (Freeney hurt on a cut block by Webb)

AND as soon as Freeney comes out forte goes around hughes' end to the outside (hughes with a pathetic effort stuck on a block) for 20 + yards. That's the way Hughes played the rest of the day as well....invisible.

  9. I have become a tad concerned with Grigson's tendency lately to make trades for players of questionable value for future draft picks. Granted, the latest acquisition, Gordy, was for an undisclosed draft pick. But I think we should be careful about mortgaging away the team's draft picks so liberally. Thoughts?

If Grigson has made trades for multiple players that will not make the rooster then maybe there is reason for concern but we don't that yet so I am waiting to see. I guess I am not concerned.

  10. Let me make the case.......

The biggest/best turnaround for the colts was from 74 to 75. The colts were 2-12 in 74 and god awful. The Colts were 10-4 in 75 which is not heir best statistical jump in terms of wins (8 more wins) but consider that the 75 team started 1-4 and then won 9 straight to make the playoffs and win the division. So a team that had won 3 of its last 19 games suddenly plays better and better every week against all expectations and wins 9 in a row to make the playoffs playing in a division against the very strong Miami Dolphins (beating the Dolphins twice) who had won the division 3 years in a row and were super bowl champs. Thats was the best turn around ever.

Trivia the |Colts opened the season at chicago and humiliated walter peyton 35-7 stuffing him on every run for the length of the game.

  11. I would like to have a team built around a defense like the 1970 SB Colts. Every time that defense took the field I relaxed because I believed they would either stop the other team or create a turnover and a short field for the offense When the offense was on the field I was nervous and keyed up.. The offense wasn't really very good and lost their 2 best runners Hill and Matte by the end of the first game of the season but they could throw the ball a bit and they really didn't have to be that good. That's the style of team that I'd like the Colts to become over the next 2-3 years and in a few years when Luck become the best QB in the NFL then offense will surge and we will rule the NFL.
