Yeah, I 'm in a Cranberries zone right now. Checkout this cover of "Dreams" by a woman named Madison Malone.

Proof that we rockers can embrace a softer side of our personalities once in awhile. It's very powerful. A good number for when a father hands off his baby girl at her wedding etc. etc.

I keep adding clips because when the mood hits me I can't help but "Linger" in a particular band's mindset.

I stumbled upon a You Tube person known as Inbar. Here's what I wrote today in the comment section of her channel:

A very majestic & soothing cover. Almost lullabyish in fact. That's a complement by the way not a criticism. Incredible job. The cello/bass violin gives this number a hypnotic, trance like quality. It's a travesty that this video doesn't have over a million views in my estimation. Simply a stunning rendition.

This cover is so naked meaning not flashy or overproduced. It's just slow & very tight meaning exceptionally well done. Don't believe me?

      See? I told ya.

  2. Led Zeppelin had two of my all time favorite musicians, Robert Plant and Jimmy Page....both evolved as solo/other band artists.

On the soundtrack from 1976 The Song Remains The Same the  song itself Song Remains the Same fading into The Rain Song is epic. It is live Zep at it's best IMO.

Johnny Cash singing "Little Drummer Boy." Wow, that's gotta be extremely rare. Get find there RR7!

Cash was good at everything--Gospel, Rhythm & Blues, Country, & Rock N Roll from the 50's thru the 90's. This man always made high caliber quality records & definitely had a stage presence.

I think that Metallica one is actually Trans Siberian Orchestra. Not blaming you my friend. I think the person who posted that video made an innocent mistake & got the band name wrong. No worries. It happens to the best of us.

Speaking of Metallica, check this out: A drummer named Josh Steffan mocking popular songs as if Lars Ulrich was putting his signature touch on them. It's very funny because Lars always looks like the tiniest guy at a bar fight who believes he can take anybody on & beat them. Plus, Lars always gets snarl on his face when he's playing like he's trying to lick peanut butter off the end of his nose & he always wants to turn every song into an epic rock opera going bananas with his drumsticks. This guy does a beautiful job capturing that.

It's long but very funny. You never heard Bowie, Queen, Foreigner, Alanis Morrisette, or the Village People quite like this.

Encore you say. Sure, why not.

The Judas Priest cover is really good....

    4. southwest1

      southwest1

Okay, my mistake. Judas Priest wasn't in that 2nd video montage clip. My bad.

The 3rd time is the charm. JP at the 3:40 ish mark. Top notch version of a classic Metal track here.

Okay, my Lars percussion humor is finished now. Thank you for your patience.

Good to see you posting once again. Glad to have you back.

I came across a singer named Johnny Doe today performing a song called "Devil Train." I honestly thought this was "The Man In Black." It's crazy good. Wow!

I was blown away. It sounds like vintage stuff straight out of the 1950's & Sun Records. Amazing!

@southwest1 her name is Kennedy Rae....she is my angel.

Love the songs you posted....listening to Chris again!  Btw, Cantrell's album is very unique in sound...much like Alice in Chains was.  I love artists that have their own sound.

      southwest1

Kennedy Rae is a beautiful name for your baby girl RR7. Thanks so much for sharing that. I bet you're an awesome dad too. It's so hard to raise kids today with FaceBook, Twitter, & Instagram etc.

I will PM you soon too. I wasn't kidding about that either. I need to thank so many people like @Jay kirk, @Gramz, @Lollygagger8, you, & so many folks who cushioned the blow of losing my youngest nephew Matthew. It's pretty cool what a tight nit family the Colts Forum is.

haha Yeah, if you haven't already noticed, Michael Mann is 1 of my all time favorite directors. He graduated from UW Madison back in the 1960's too. When he used Chris Cornell twice in "Miami Vice" I was so bleeping stocked. Chris is in another stratosphere man & Mann is a master at movie scores. He just is. I even bought that soundtrack too. It sucks though. I had to download Chris's songs off iTunes because the AudioSlave classics weren't released on the soundtrack. It was bizarre. Anyway, Chris is king in my household too brother.

      Hey there RR7,

I came across this funny video of kids listening to Bon Jovi videos for the very 1st time. This band will also be inducted into the Rock N Roll HOF at the end of April along with the Moody Blues, Dire Straits, The Cars, Nina Simone, etc. etc. I know CC1 will be happy about the Moody Blues finally getting inducted.

I love the jokes about bad hair that hasn't been brushed through well yet & my dad has that track on his phone. You know, like we're ancient or something. haha

Hey RR, I went to see Edgar Winter, Alice Cooper and Deep Purple at Klipsch Music Center a couple of nights ago. Pretty good show, Alice Cooper's band was bad butt. For 69 years old Alice still puts on a hell of a show. Deep Purple had their moments but age has caught them. Just didn't play with strong energy.

Neither choices they gave us in the end were all too great. I did vote for choice B who lost, but I preferred choice C who lost in the primaries to choice B.

Not trying to get political with names but you catch my drift if you catch my drift.

I honestly get so burned out on politics lately, I agree at times.......sometimes just music is better. I tuned a lot of it out lately and just kinda said screw it.

I've said this before. To me, Indiana is the Colts, the Pacers, David Letterman, & John Mellencamp.

I know. I gotta give Bobby Knight some love too.

I'm still stunned that Dave didn't have John on his final week on late night. Mellencamp is to Indiana what Springsteen & Bon Jovi are to New Jersey man--An icon to their birthplace.

Most metal fans are easy going unless they drink too much & start making unwanted advances toward other guys girlfriends during a show. I hope you didn't have to rough anybody up too bad buddy. It's the mean drunks as opposed to the happy go lucky dudes that you gotta be mindful of as a bouncer.

I'm sure you did a superb job as the cooler at the door RR7.

    3. TheRustonRifle#7

      TheRustonRifle#7

It is true, the mean drunks were easier to deal with because they were so obliterated that they were easily handled.  The biggest issues were guys rubbing/hitting on others Ladies and those who took exception to being bumped.  Those shows were so much easier than bouncing for Grunge Metal Cover Bands that allowed a "mosh pit"...lol!

"Pull Me Under" & "The Looking Glass" are timeless crisp classics that withstand the test of time. Great tunes that never get old.

You know this by the number of amateur bands that cover these songs over & over again on You Tube for instance. See. That's how you know Dream Theater is iconic--Imitation is the highest form of flattery & homage man...

One of the best power ballads ever bleeping recorded man. Queensryche is such a superb band with intricate musical arrangements. I always think of cigarette lighters & tiny flames swaying in the crowd whenever I hear that timeless track.

I miss that. Lighters vs people recording concerts on their cell phones now. Can't they just soak up the ambiance & enjoy the moment? Sigh. Why even buy the ticket & drive to the venue if a person refuses to enjoy their surroundings?

haha Thank you. I won't get my hopes up too high but I am optimistic. The pass rush looked good on Thursday. I was not too pleased with Zim's decision to sit Teddy. Teddy could use the reps.

I like CJ Ham too but he probably won't make the team. Another team will sign him.
