  1. I think the best thing i got out of the article was that he was "running over people". If that's while carrying the ball then i will be overjoyed! The one compilation i saw of him seemed to indicate he was knocked off his pins quite easily. Hopefully that is not the case. He really appears to be the complete package early on.

    -d.

  2. He looked great!! Actually I was impressed all around. We had a scuffle break out at one point and that tells me guys are 110% committed and working their butts off.

Geez...they're not even wearing pads yet and they 're already getting after it?? Yeah, i agree with you.

I really think this is a Grigson effect - no one on this roster is safe. The slate is clean and everybody is starting off at rhe same level and are accountable. If you can't get it right you'd surely better show some fire. If you can't at least show some fire you're outta' here.

I can't wait for them to put the pads on! This should be a very good camp.

  3. Mine is Jules Winnfield, a bad mother...

    "...shut your mouth!"

(for al those "Shaft" fans out there)

I used a very old version of PhotoDraw, or something like that. It's like Win98 architecture, lol, but i can't afford Photoshop. Good thing, though as i would probably lose sleep trying to create/modify/enhance all of my photos.

  4. Good for you, bleed blue! We try to keep it classy.

Classy?? Uh-oh, guess I'd better leave rhe forum now, lol.

As far as more tweets - must be a REALLY slow day for him to tweet something that is not really anything new ot tweet-worthy.

    (sarcasm off)

I have to admit, this year the signing topic is getting stale really quickly. If nothing changes before training camp opens i don't want to hear about it any more from the front office. Just get it done!

  5. Game 1 First Half

    Game 2 Three Quarters

    Game 3 Three Quarters

Game 4 Three Drives or 20 plays...

Yeah, I think it's closer to this. Game 3 is the closest thing he'll see to a real game scenario, but the thing i want him to really get a feel for is the halftime adjustment.

I think that will also be a good test for the coaches since this will also be their first time doing game planning. This is a new staff and they also have to get to know each other in game situations.

  6. Concerned about the offensive line giving Luck enough time to throw - time to gel as a unit.

Excited about their size (hoot!) and potential to be so much more than a one dimensional unit unlike the last few years.

Concerned about how many rookies we are probably going to carry this year.

Excited about seeing them grow as individuals AND as a team.

  7. I love how coach keeps reiterating this is a kids game with high stakes. To enjoy it and have fun! The more I hear him talk the more I want to run threw a brick wall for him. So I understand why the ravens d players loved him so much!

To which i ask: where are all those who wanted Cowher for a head coach? This is DEFINITELY NOT his style. I wonder if they think this style is also bad?

Personally, I don't mind being loosey-goosey in camp, but if we lose a game the first one clowning around in the locker room gets fined!! :-)

  8. I don't care who starts. What i DO care about is using the talent we have correctly. This is a relatively young backfield and each one does something better than the others, but they can all get better.

This, to me, is going to be on the coaches putting the player in the best situation to succeed as much as it is the player performing well. I don't think we schemed well at all last year even considering the obliterated O-line we had last year. This year i'm expecting all backs getting quality playing time.

  9. Honestly, in an odd kind of way, i think AV is going to be under pressure. If Luck can get us close then Vini has to seal the deal with a FG. If he misses a couple early then more pressure on Luck to put it in the end zone. Having said that; does AV even know what pressure is??

I also think Hughes has to show it this year or he's gone. I'm hoping he gets (yet another) chance to shine and makes good on it.

  10. I'm glad they don't settle, even with players deep on the depth cart.

Agree. One major difference between Polian and Grigson is that Grigson isn't afraid to say "my bad" and toss a recruit out for someone else.

Yeah, these are depth guys but the players higher up on the roster have to be looking at all of the moves and thinking "No one is safe. Gotta' bust my butt every day or i could be gone".

Not that i think it was ever an issue here, but there won't be any one getting complacent on our roster!

    My .02

  11. I think Caldwell will always be remembered for last year. Not really so much for the number of losses but for being the last coach that Peyton played for in a Colts uniform. He'll be more of an afterthought more than anything else.

My first coach was Don Shula. I also remember feeling kind of lost when he left because we just went to the Super Bowl with him the year before. 1970 was a tough year.

  12. I am glad to see all of the enthusiam for our D, but we have to remember that we are transitioning to a whole new scheme without a large number of high draft choices used on D. I think we will struggle this year on D while the offense becomes more and more explosive as the year goes on.

Agree with you. One thing i would counter with, though; The same "new scheme" will give us a bit of an advantage this year. No one will have a library of tape on us so they will not be able to prepare for us like years past - offensively or defensively. Heck, WE may not know exactly what we're doing week to week, lol. That may give us a win or two early in the year. We shall see...

Yeah, it will be frustrating at times as people miss an assignment or two, but i am much more confident than i was pre-draft.

  13. We could see both Chapman and McKinney on the field together. Chapman McKinney Redding and then Freeney off the corner and Mathis blitzing between the whole Mckinney and Chapman make.

No chips or double teams on D-Free on passing downs downs with this scenario. Wow, Mathis and Freeney will have a field day.

I agree with another poster who said we wouldn't require a lockdown corner righ away because of the pass rush pressure. If the offense sees the alignment in time they'd require keeping the tight end in or possible a back to help out.

Looks great on paper, at least.

  14. If he was 100%? Wow, tough call. I'd hope that there was a way we could have both Peyton and Luck... I just can't see us passing on someone predicted to be as good as Luck is.

I don't understand yiur thought process here?

Does the earth fall into the sun if we keep Peyton and also draft Luck?

Is there a clause in the NFL that states we can't have these two on the same roster??

We can definitely have both of them - if Luck doesn't pull an El-Manning(Elway-Manning).

Let's have our cake and eat it, too!

  15. This is one of the reasons why I don't see that PM + Luck makes any sense.

For all those fans who think PM will help tutor Luck, or RG3, they do not see his past behavior that will dictate his future behavior. It is all wishful thinking.

PM will not tutor, teach, help his replacement.

I don't necessarily agree. While i do admit that it appears to be his past M.O., situations sometimes dictate the behavior. I would like to think that Peyton is now going to think of his legacy - how good Luck becomes. This *may* make him think more along the lines of a tutor. Also, remember that he and Luck already have a relationship via his camp(?) so that will also make teaching Luck much more likely. (He may have also had VERY little respect for Sorgi, Painter, etc.)

I'm not sayin' it's gonna' happen, but...

  16. Because perhaps he's only at 50%......

...and even if he were at 100%, it is still a failed philosophy. You can't put the success of the team on one individual. We jusp proved that this past season. "If" we bring back Peyton and he gets injured we are in the same situation as we were in last year.

I think the real isue here (and i have also seen one or two on this board also say this) is that Peyton wants all of the snaps in practice. If he does come back that will have to change - regardless of him trying to come back after a year off. The backups have to be given some quality snaps in practice.

Second issue is one that i am really interested to see how it all turns out: If Peyton does come back, will the offense change dramatically?

One of the main reasons why Petton is so great is because of his familiarity with the playbook. He has been running the same system his whole for 13 years. To make a wholesale change now means that not only does he have memorize a bunch of new routes, but he also has to learn the timing of his receivers within those new routes.

Some will question why the offense has to change, but in response to that i think it unfair for Luck (or whomever is chosen) to have to learn an offense that is not tailored to their strengths, though i am praying this new staff wil better prepare the backup(s) better than the JC's staff did.

So now i wonder if the whole rebuilding process shouldn't begin now even if Peyton comes back?! Have Peyton and the O-line learn some plays that are designed for Luck in case Luck has to step in partway through the season??

Oh, geez...the more i think of it (and i try NOT to) my brain starts to hurt. I'm glad I'm not Grigson and Pagano!

  17. Umm...no dude. It all began at that Redskins game a couple years ago when guys came from the right side of the offense and his body was bent backwards awkwardly. Tony Dungy brought it to the medias attention that that was where it happened. He lost feeling in his right arm for a few seconds, called a timeout, told Sorgi to warm up, then came back to throw 5 TD's in the 2nd half.

Yep. If i remember correctly, he yelled at Sorgi "Be ready!!". Peyton was pretty angry after it hapened. I didn't think he was going back in at all that game when i saw the replay. The human body isn't made to do that kind of bending

  18. We would have absolutely no pass rush. I think we need at least one on the team. The census says that Mathis would transition better for the 3-4 but who knows..

Agree to some extent. If we play 3-4 then one of them would be good. If we stay a majority 4-3 i just don't see us having any pass rush either as opposing teams would just double whichever DE stays.

As much as i would love to have a cover corner for round 2 i think we need a true NT more. Pray that Hughes could be that DE that will be able to play both 4-3 and 3-4 to replace either D-Free or Mathis.

  19. Bottom line is that we all say we are Colts fans, so ultimately we want what is best for the team. While we might have our opinions on what that us, there is only one person with the stroke to make the decision of what that will be. Either way, Manning or no Manning, I'll be cheering every week for another Colts victory. Whatever decision Irsay makes I will stand behind him and put my energy into positive things instead of some childish "I told you so". There's no doubt that if Manning leaves it will crack the fan base, those that are just Manning fans will leave to follow him, and those that are Colts fans will still be here proudly supporting the horseshoe! GO COLTS!!!!!

Agree 100%! I am a Colts fan first. I read the boards to cheer my team, not to splinter the fan base.

We all have our opinions and the is the place to express them. That being said, HOW we choose to express them can divide us. Let us all respect each other's opinons without the "rub it in their faces" attitude andsupport our team!!

okay, group hug as we sing Kumbaya...

  20. Oh man did we knock this out of the park. Me and my wife spent alot of time down there, and it was just fantastic, Im so proud of the city, the volunteers, the NFL, the various police/fire/medic personal, and most of all Mother Nature. All were just fantastic.

Balls in your court New York!

Yeah, it appears as if you can't find a negative word about the prep and presentation of the Super Bowl this year. Hoosiers did yourselves proud. Major props to you!!

I can't imagine how...where...the "Super Bowl Experience" will be done next year. The stadium is 25 mins from downtown NY and in another state altogether. Nothing to do around the stadium since the Xanadu project went belly-up and is a mess right now.

Maybe they'll have a zip line from the stadium to midtown New York? Now THAT would be an "exprience"!!
