  1. ABSOLUTELY. :pullhair: Don't even get me started. The draft day extravaganzas drive me up the wall.

I happen to also be a Montreal Canadiens fan. Back in the 60s/70s they had a GM who would flat out physically abuse anybody that he traded with. Over and over relentlessly. They once acquired a first round draft pick from one of the worst teams in the league, and then made a deal with the only team that had a chance to finish worse then that team - sending them a quality but aging player for next to nothing in return - just to make sure they did just a LITTLE bit better than the team whose pick the Canadiens held. The result for the Canadiens was Guy Lafleur, and another decade or more of incredible success. The result for the other team was a few years of failure and then to be folded into another struggling franchise.

The point is, a sucker may be born every minute, but this goes on endlessly - and it's not like people can clearly see whose name is on the caller ID. If Belichick called my team and asked for a player in a trade, I'd say NO, and then go try and figure out what we're missing.

BB has been giving a "LOT" of very good football players away lately... and getting picks. What has it done for them?

The last 5 years NE is drafting as badly as Indy. Maybe Worse.....

  2. He had never done anything special in Miami. 400 yd one year and 600 another and some pretty average punt return numbers.

They didn't know how to use him The Patriots did.

He was a great PR'r in Miami... that is all they would let him do... and the rest is history.

But, Indy has never even tried to fix ST's so why even consider Welker would have been an option?

  3. "So did reggie"? What are you talking about. He held out for ten minutes because he wanted to make a statement about money. He made a point of not doing a single thing that might either lead his teammates/fans to think that he wasn't fully committed to the team, or to negatively affect his performance on the field. Then he came back and played like the classy all-pro team leader that he his, without bringing up the issue again.

Palmer was THE face of his franchise, and he essentially said "to heck with the fans, to heck with my teammates, to heck with my responsibilities, to heck with my career, to heck with the money, I have a personality clash with the owner, so I'm going to take my ball and go home". It was juvenile and SHOULD have destroyed his credibility altogether.

The fact that the Raiders took him (and paid so much) says a lot about them - perhaps the only organization in the NFL that is run worse than the Bengals. If was match made in heck.

I understand that you don't like the Polians - I'm not getting back into that nonsense with you. Your opinion doesn't change the fact that the Colts have one of the most highly regarded organizations in the league, and the Bengals one of the worst. The Bengals are exactly what the Colts were before Jim Irsay took over. If you don't understand and respect the difference, then I'm guessing you weren't old enough to be a fan during those years. You know not of what you speak.

Careful... Palmer got sick of the Bengals and their "same old same old ways" ... The Bengals have 2x the talent Indy has, Peyton could very well look at Indy this next season and pull the same crap. Unlikely but it really is a bit of a similar situation,

Palmer got sick of the losing, Peyton has been winning... only difference.

Palmer's issue was with the organization, Manning's "potentially" would be with the organization/talent.

  4. I was calling for him to be fired after the Super Bowl victory for putting together the 3rd worst run defense in NFL history.

Simon (traded for) Injury, Booger (traded for) worked out when it mattered, he got injured the following season. McCargo (traded for) failed physical. Quinn Quitcock, Quit. ... Bill Johnson (drugs) and on and on...

The team HAS TRIED TO ADDRESS THE RUN D........ but this is the most injury prone team I have ever seen.

    What can you do?

  5. I think Dungy had more doing with building that team than Polian did. I think Polian started using all of his power when the puppet came into play. This is for the "Polian built the SB team" argument.

I totally agree with this. Tony IS a winner. He is so under rated by so many... even Colt fans.

Tony coached UP the "so called bad talent" Bill brought in.

  6. This was the flukiest run to a Super Bowl in NFL history. That defense was the worst defense in NFL history going into the playoffs and they all of a sudden flipped a switch.

Flukie? Peyton was on this team right?.. and it tells us all a couple of things... "one player" can make a BIG difference on either side of the ball. Indy's SB run was due to 3 key occurances.

    1 Bob got healthy

    2 The Booger trade

3 Rob Morris took over at OLB for GG

It was not "flukie" at all ... The D got healthy. AND UPGRADED AT DT. Via trade, too bad the very next year Booger got hurt.

Some of you totally underestimate the impact of what a healthy Bob Sanders meant to this D. And team.

When Bob was in the game this team was a totally different unit.

  7. One man built this team. His name is Peyton Manning. Proof is in the pudding! Everything you say points to this. Yes, I give Bill credit for drafting him.

    sigh....

Did you watch the SB run? Manning was "average" at best in all playoff games except NE. The D won Indy that ring, and Dom and Joe were the real SB MVP's......

Look at the staring D on that team...

    Booger, injury ended career

    Marlin, injury ended career

    Sanders, injury ended career

    Morris, injury ended career

    June, FA departure... not missed

Brackett, injury will most likely end career

    Hayden, team just releases

Jennings, starting for the Bears... ?? Yet he wasn't good enough for us?

    Freeney, MIA this season

    Mathis, MIA this season

It was only 5 years ago, and if not for injury and what not this D could have been a juggernaut.

  8. I'm truely fed-up with all the excuses about other teams being in the same mess as us if they lost their franchise QB. Brady went down, and the backup wins 11. Big Ben is banned for 4, and the back-ups win 3. I'll go with the form that points to us being way worse and under prepared than these other marquee teams. This is all just a cover up for the Polian lovers to hide behind. You are not being disloyal to the Colts organisation by admitting Bill is finished....

Chill out man, the depth on this team has deteriorated in just the last couple of years. The draft has been Indy's lifeblood for the last decade, in the last few years the team has missed on high round picks. FA departures, and injury eventually add up when teams win 12+ games a year for ten years running.

Lordy... I guess you were a Tobin fan? :yuk:

  9. You've got to be kidding me. Top 3? More like bottom three... Couldn't win a Super Bowl in Buffalo and now has one of the best quarterbacks of all time and has one ring to show for it. Somehow he's got to get better players and better coaching staff in here.

Do you know how many teams in the NFL have NEVER been to a SB? They aren't easy to get to.....

  10. Well some players just need the right settings to play in... i doubt that this guy would come to the colts but if he did i wouldnt mind that at all.. with some of the colts DT's they currently have he wouldnt be that bad.

Exactly.... Fat Al needs an atmosphere where injury is tolerated and accepted, and babied.

    sigh.......

  11. No question Painter is a dud and I knew that when the Colts drafted him. I have never said Polian hasn't made bad decisions, what I have always said is that overall, he knows what he is doing and his track record shows he puts winning teams on the field. There is not 1 GM ever who doesn't make bad choices.

Give up Bro... dude hates the Polians with a passion.

  12. I've never been a fan with the majority of our current coaches, but let the year progress then make the necessary changes. It's not like our current coaching staff is going to do anything to get this team to start winning games, especially considering injuries & the player personnel they have. It's a bad team on all fronts except for kicking (McAfee & Vinitieri)

I guarantee Tressel would get more out of this team ...

  13. But you don't play scared. Scared to get hurt or scared to lose. If someone got hurt playing for perfection, no explanation is needed, fans are automatically on your side.

But fans will scream for explanations if you quit. I think the F.O. was out thinking themselves when they should've manned up and accepted the risks of going for perfection.

P.s. Sitting didn't affect the SB, playing scared to lose did!

wrong, the teams inability to HOLD ONTO THE BALL cost them that game. Garcon, Kendra, Wayne, and on and on...

The team was conservative, but... Indy just did not make plays.

  14. You know I think we are a play making corner and a safety for depth (a middle round guy) away from a fixed secondary. I think Thomas is getting the expereince he needs this season to be pretty good and I do think Powers is a very solid corner in the NFL but we need the play making number one guy. I agree we get Luck or the next best QB in this draft depending on where we pick. Then I think we need to do target the corner spot with out next pick and if we don't think a guy we can use is going to be there with the first pick of the second round I would trade up to get one or heaven forbid...use free agency to get a proven starter, I know there is no way in the world we are going to be able to go get a big name corner but we can get a proven guy who can still play.

I agree, I was being a little snarky... Powers IS a very good player (although teetering on the injury prone tag), and I have liked what I have seen from Thomas. And Bethea is always solid.

I would like to see more of Rucker also.

In reality, if Manning returns I hope Indy trades the pick for "mucho picks"... and if Manning does not come back... It's Luck and then I would start beefing up the OL and DL.

  15. was just released by the patriots. should we try for him?

Sure lets bring in "another injury prone" player to collect a check from the most generous FO in the history of the NFL.

The culture of this team and it's "willingness to tolerate injury" has to change.

  16. should have said this before but

    another one bites the dust...

Get use to it... the quitters are going to come out of the woodwork from here on out.

This Jax game is this team's best chance at victory from here on out. I hope pride cometh forth, but I suspect we will get blown out.

And then Tressel will be named coach for the rest of the season.

  17. They also lost Pro Bowl tight end
    Dallas Clark for the season
with a left leg injury and another tight end,
    Brody Eldridge
, is expected to miss more than a week with a "significant" injury.

In less than 24 months, the Colts have gone from chasing a perfect season to chasing the No. 1 draft pick, from Super Bowl contender to front-runner in the
    Andrew Luck
    lottery

Over the past three games, the Colts have been outscored, 120-24. In a 31-7 loss Sunday to Atlanta, their once potent offense was completely shut out, managed only 186 total yards and went 25 minutes without picking up a first down.

I HAVE NO IDEA if this is a true report, only seen a few other weeks elsewhere like brody

    Read more:

No loss... he's been MIA all year anyway.

  18. I don't care what anyone says.

This team has never looked the same since that shameful December afternoon against the Jets.

They lost something more than a shot at football immortality that day.

??? huh??? Had P Garcon caught that "easy" TD ball across the middle in the first half of the SB, and Mr Kendra held onto the onside kick to open the second half Indy wins it's second SB.

The Jet game had no effect on anything except fan's attitude toward Polian.

  19. The Patriots won 11 games without their quarterback and the 49ers played in several NFC Championship games and won a Super Bowl shortly after Montana left. I think the Packers would win a lot of games this year with Flynn because they have a very talented receiving corps.

However, Polian never bothered to give the Colts a credible backup.

The Pats played the easiest schedule in the NFL that season, Steve Young took over for Montana, and GB would not win 5 games without AR. Their D is HORRIBLE.
