  1. I love the moves the Colts have made.  However, not to be a Debbie Downer, but I don't see how these moves change the Patriots running A and B gaps against us all day?  Hopefully with the draft we can add bit, physical, fast inside backer and another DLineman.  If we can get better in the middle, then I think we have it.

  2. Good read.  But I tdon't think JPP or Hardy would play in a 3-4 as a down lineman.  They are more 4-3 ends.  I am not real big on throwing a lot of money at one guy, but it would be interesting to see the Colts cut so of the dead weight free agents they have signed, which would clear up close to 10 million and go after Suh.  He is a punk but he is dominant. And I do believe he can play in a 3-4.  I wouldn't go after Spikes because he is a pure run stuffer.  He lacks any ability to cover.  Iupati would be good.

My wish is that we get stronger on the OLine and front 7 on defense.  Draft a RB maybe 2nd or 3rd.

  3. I hate both teams.  But I did enjoy Wilson throwing the interception.  When I read a post yesterday comparing him to Joe Montana, it made me sick.  The Pats winning was the lesser of two evils.  They have already established themselves.  I didn't want to hear about the Shehawks.

  4. Well, you are 100% right.  The way to beat the Patriots is running the football a balanced amount of time.  If they go into nickel or dime, run.  ANY team that lines up and throws the ball at them all day is going to lose.  When they lose, like against KC, Miami, and Denver last year, it is because the other team effectively rushed the ball and pressured Brady. I think we gave up on the run way too fast. Herron was doing like 5 yards a carry.  We should have pounded it on them.

  5. Ok, so playing GM a bit.  In the draft, if a good one is available in round 1 or 2, I would take a RB.  We have to be able to pound the ball against NE.  GB doesn't have a great OLine.  Neither does NE.  But they run when they need to. I like Boom but I don't know that he is going to be that type of back.  Secondly, we need another pass rusher right now.  If we are going to make a free agent splash, Orakpo would be good I think.  And then through the draft, I hope we can get some big, mobile inside LBs and a safety to develop.

  6. Such a stupid strawman. How about when you have two years in a row with the most cap space in the league you put together a semi-quality defense? A semi-competent oline? WRs who can get seperation?

Karlos Dansby got the same contract D'Qwell Jackson did. Toler got paid the same year Brent Grimes, Sean Smith, Aqib Talib, and DRC were free agents.

I think what is stupid is your comments.  My point is that in 3 years, it is hard to replace 48 of 53 players and have them all solid, if not good.  Sure, mistakes have been made.  Too much money has been thrown at a front 7 that can't stop a nosebleed.  But you also have to be realistic.  To beat the Patriots, you have to be able to run the ball and put heat on them.

  7. I am not a Manusky fan.  Didn't like the hire.  That said, the type of defense he wants to run requires two edge rushers and inside LBs that can cover in space.  Imagine the Raves without Suggs, Dumervill, and slower LBs.  Until that is fixed, they will always have a problem against the Pats.

  8. Welll, it is really a matchup thing.  In order to beat the Patriots you need to be able to:

    1) Power run the football on them.

    2) Have two edge rushers who can put pressure on Brady.

    3) Have inside backers who can cover.

Unfortunately, we really have none of them with Mathis out.  I will put my money on that Seattle destroys NE in the Super Bowl.  Why?  Because they have exactly what you need to be NE.  They will pressure Brady, run on their defense, and take away the short crossing patterns.  Until we can do that, we won't beat them.

And for all those who say this is a passing league and we have to lay it on Luck, we will never beat NE thinking that way.  You cannot be one dimensional against them.

  9. Ok, so maybe it is just wishful thinking, but I now believe we  have a good chance of winning this game.  Earlier in the week, I didn't think we could. Until I started breaking down a few things.  These are mostly my opinion, obviously, but...

    1) The Colts are a much different and better team then the first time we played.  Better offensive line play, Boom Herron adding a lot to the running attack, Jones adding to the defense, and Luck willing to drop off a ball to a checkdown.

    2) The Patriots may not be the awesome team the media makes them out to be.  The Jets manhandled them save for having no offense.  I know they had some players out against Buffalo, but they got handled.  Baltimore went right through them most of the time.  This is not an overpowering team.  They are good, don't get me wrong.

    3) The "bad" Colts, even with no running attack, bad oline, and receivers limited, were within 7 into the 4th quarter.

    4) I think the Colts have the momentum.  The Colts remind me of the push they had in 2006.  A bunch of guys really outworking everyone to win.

    5) I believe we can run on them enough to keep them honest.

    6) I believe we will actually be more physical then them, much like 2006.  We are not a finesse team.

    My prediction:

    Colts 37 Pats 34
