  1. It blows my mind how much of media and fans will push a narrative. For example, one media person said "Against the Rams, Ricardson was the best player on the field". hahaha Or called a "franchise QB" and "the next great Colts QB". Tell me this...based on what???? That he was drafted high? So where JaMarcus Russell, Ryan Leaf, and Akili Smith. That he is an athletic monster? So were Tim Tebow and Trey Lance. Or, is it because he was drafted high, he has physical traits, and we are told that he will be those things? So I suggest those who drink the Kool-Aid refer to Justin Fields. Similar player with much more experience in college. A good runner for a QB who is inaccurate as a passer. But every year we hear "Oh, but he is progressing". Compared to who? Fields got sacked 1 time out of every 9 passes. Ok, they blame poor offense line. But when Tyson Baggert, a college free agent who had to play as a rookie, started games, he was sacked 1 time out of every 29 passes. So did the line suddenly get better? Yet, there are STILL media people pushing that Fields has this great potention. Come on, after three seasons, I think we know what he is. An inaccurate, indecisive QB who can run. And new to the world. QBs are supposed to be PASSERS first. Anthony Richardson seems like a good, hardworking guy. But I have little doubt he will be a bust as an accurate, decisive NFL QB. He will run and that will make highlight films. He will have an ocassional nice pass or game. But overall, he will be a bust. That is why I am praying the Colts resign Gardner Minshew. Because he is and will always be a better NFL QB than Richardson. Mark my words. If we lose Minshew. we better draft another QB prospect like Michael Pratt and just hope he can be a Brock Purdy type gem, because Anthony Richardson is our Trey Lance. I guarantee it.
  2. I had mixed feelings watching Will Levis dicing up the Atlanta defense. I was very happy for the guy. Seems like a great guy from a great family. He has huge, accurate arm, with nice touch. He also can run pretty well. But I was bummed because I still feel he was a MUCH better pick than Richardson, who is a gloried runningback with a big arm. I think the Colts too much at Jalen Hurts and thought Richardson can be Hurts. But Hurts is playing with a team that is good at every position. Guys like Richardson and Mitch Trubisky drive me crazy. Anyways, my only hope is that we just get lucky and draft a QB next year after the first round expect that player to be a backup to Richardson but that QB becomes out true #1. Kind of what Brock Purdy did to Trey Lance. Lance, incidently, was a much better passing version of Richardson. But we need to get a QB who has multiple years starting experience, who is a better thrower than runner, and we will be fine. Of course, I am a Minshew fan, so if he came back, I am fine with that. Cracks me up when some of you say "Minshew is a good backup. Richardson is our franchise QB". Based on what? Because I Richardson was drafted high, he is a franchise QB? I guess that would make JaMarcus Russell and Ryan Leaf franchise QBs too, huh? Minshew started for the good part of two years in Jacksonville on really bad teams and put up great numbers. They didn't win much. But when Lawrence played the next year with the same cast, basically, he did worse. And then Minshew goes to Philly where they had already decided Hurts was their QB, so he never had a chance to win the starting job. Colts are like #6 in offense. Minshews passing and running is NOT the problem. Sure, has has to hold on the ball, but you can't play with the defense that gives up 35 points a game and expect to win.
  3. I would seriously take a QB if there was an actual accurate throwing QB and not a project that runs and you think you can teach him how to throw the ball. Mark my words, Richardson will be a bust as an accurate passing QB. He will get his runs and hit a long pass once awhile, but think of a better running Justin Fields. Bust. Since they likely won't be able to resign Minshew who likely will want to go somewhere with a chance to start, I would like to see the Colts get someone like J.J. McCarthy, Bo Nix, or, if lucky, Drake Maye. No Richardson or Mitch Trubisky types, please.
  4. Again, some Colts fans make my head spin. They think just because Richardson was drafted high, he is automatically a franchise QB and will do great things. Based on what? His college stats? No. His draft position? See Ryan Leaf, JaMarcus Russell, Akili Smith, etc. I get tired of this "Minshew is the best backup in the NFL". Minshew is a better NFL QB than Richardson. He always has been and always will be. The #1 attributes an NFL needs to have is the ability to read a defense, process what he is seeing, and deliver the ball accurate. It isn't throwing the ball 70 yards. Or running faster than everyone. Sure, it is helpful if he has a big arm ON TOP of what I mentioned. Or is fast on top of what I mentioned. The ONLY thing I have seen from Richardson is he is fast, has a strong arm, is good at throwing quick, redetermined passes, and gets hurt easily so far. When he has had to try to read a defense and put the ball down field, he is usually WAY off target. Very inaccurate, but that is what he has in college. For me, Richardson\Minshew is very similar to Lance\Purdy. You can talk all you want about Lance having every physical aspect you want in a QB, but at the end of the day, Purdy is so much better at playing NFL QB. Minshew, to me, it much like Purdy. Not the biggest guy, but throws the ball incredibly accurately and processes quickly. I hope things turn out where Minshew is the starter and Richardson is a backup that comes in on short yardage situations. The hype on Richardson is annoying. The guy will be 3-17 on 3rd and 4th down, but they will praise him. He will do nothing for 3 quarters than lead a few drives and they say "He put the team on his shoulders". WHAT?? He is the reason they did nothing for 3 quarters. He is too streaky. I hope Minshew does well the next 4 weeks and keeps him on the bench. Because, as I said, Minshew has been and always will be a better NFL QB than Richardson. At some point, you will see that is very clear.
  5. I find it so funny how everyone is going out of their way to elevate this guy and his play. Venturi raps up game by saying how impressed he was wtih Richadson. ha What a joke. You mean the guy who threw a terrible interception and threw a number of balls either too high or off target? Sorry, just because we spend the number 4 pick on a QB and HOPE he becomes good doesn't make him good. He is and will always be what she showed in college. Which is he has great athletic skills. But he makes bad decisions, has terrible ball placement, and is inaccurate. I have never, ever seen a running QB who played one year of college football, have a losing record, barely completely over 50% of his passes, get into the pros and become a good passing QB. No Josh Allen didn't play one year of college football. Sorry. I have been a Colts fan since they were in Baltimore. I love the Colts. But I am not going to drink the Kool-Aid and just because the guy was a high pick, cheer about how good he is. If Sam Ehlinger had that same performance, we would probably say he should be 3rd string. It was a wasted pick, he is going to be a terrible failure as an ACCURATE, GOOD DECISIONS NFL QB, and I will look back at this 2-3 years from now when they have to clean house as him being what finally took it down. It is too bad, because I think Ballard is a good GM and I think Steichen could be a good coach. Gardner Minshew is clearly as better all around NFL QB than Richardson, but Irsay won't allow that to happen. Sad. Oh well, Art Schlichter needs company as a bust #1 QB pick for the Colts Richardson will never come close to be anywhere near Jeff George's overall career.
