  1. Oh man I would love to see a fan base used to Peyton Manning for 13 years and complaining about Kerry Collins like he is a scrub (2 time pro bowl, 40K passing yards) watch Tebow try to throw to Reggie Wayne. Please God, make this happen.

    Yep, pretty silly, isn't it?

  2. I can't believe that people are still on the Gruden bandwagon. One of the major reasons he was fired in Tampa was his players hated him and basically looked for the fastest way off the team.

    I'm with you.

I even have a hard time with him being in the booth.

He's enthusiastic and all, but he's really hard to take.

  3. Look I know you are frustrated at what people are saying about our coaching staff but look at it this way. Caldwell is a Dungy clone no matter what you say. Can you honestly say our defense which has nothing to do with Peyton is good? It is time to get a new scheme period and Caldwell isn't going to do that as long as he is there. We have talent as much as anyone on that side of the ball, I really believe that but as long as Calwell is there the tampa two will be there. I don't know about you but Im tired of watching teams gash our defense week after week year after year and praying I hope we get the ball last so Peyton and the offense can win a game. Look New England went to the playoffs the year Brady went down , Pittsburgh went 3 and 1 without Ben last year so why can't we . Its our defense period. Just think how many championships we could have won if only we had a defense!!!! This week will tell us a little more with more time for Collins to adjust so we will see. I am hoping for a win as I will be watching as I do every week . You don't have to be a rocket scientist to see it isn't working whether that be coaches or the players or both !!!!

Caldwell may be a Dungy clone, but in expressions only.

He's an offensive guy, not a defensive guy. I can't comment on his appreciation for the Tampa 2, as I don't know him that well.

Cassell spent the whole off-season in the system.

Pitts back-ups spent the whole off-season in the system.

We haven't lost a second game yet, so we don't know for certain we won't start off 3-1.

I really have no problem with a defensive scheme change, as it doesn't seem to work as well for us when we don't have a lead.

However, it can take time to convert. Also, I'm not certain the change hasn't already begun, though slow.

  4. If were picking #1 Colts take Luck(and draft around Manning/Luck)

If were picking 1-10 colts trade draft picks to move up and get Luck

Any better record than that the Colts will just try to build around Manning.

Then Colts have a awesome head coach, reviewing replays? Hmmm

I think the winds of change are blowing, it just seems like everything blows right now.

Next year after having a terrible season, Tressel takes the HC spot, Manning is QB with a bright prodigy behind him. After 1-3 years Manning is moved from QB to QB coach, possibly even OC, Luck is the star QB.

The night is darkest before the dawn.

I've felt this way the past year, or so.

Weren't Thomas & Rucker considered bigger CBs that we're used to?

We picked up bigger, run stuffing oriented DEs this summer.

Drafted bigger DTs than we're used to.

RBs with a bit more bulk to them (Carter, Evans).

Freeney, Diem, Wayne, Saturday, Clark may be gone before Manning's contract runs out.

Heck, the way things SEEM right now, Peyton may not be here when his contract runs out.

    Changes, they are a commin'.

Peyton's health this year is just making us think a bit more closely about it.

  5. I think it's safe to say if we let go of Caldwell most people want Cowher, Gruden, or Fisher. So I thought it would be neat to look at their career number blind like CBS likes to do with bubble teams for the NCAA tournment. So I have post them (minus Super Bowls because you can guess who they are based on that.) and see who they like and I will post Caldwell's at the end.

Coach A: 95-81 win % of 54% 5-4 in the playoffs in five playoff trips.

Coach B: 142-120 win % of 54% 5-6 in the playoffs in six playoff trips.

Coach C: 149-90-1 win % of 62% 12-9 in the playoffs in ten playoff trips.

Caldwell is 24-9 win % of 73% 2-2 in the playoffs in two playoff trips.

After people chim in I'll tell you who which coach is.

    This is pretty easy actually.

    Coach A = Gruden

    Coach B = Fisher

    Coach C = Cowher

It's still too early to judge Caldwell.

When NO won the SB, Sean Payton was a genius. He's had some very questionable games since then. He's only a genius as long as Brees stays healthy. Though they seemingly have a more creative DC.

I also don't think the Colts necessarily need to change defensive philosophy. As much as I don't like them, look at the Bears. They're base defense is the same. They've had better personnel though. Primarily at the DT & LB positions overall.

  6. I know, let's just have a different QB play every week.

    game 1: Kerry Collins

    game 2: Curtis Painter

    game 3: Kyle Orton

game 4: Dan Orlovsky (might as well bring him back too)

game 5: Shaun Hill (see above)

game 6: Marc Bulger (I'm sure we could sweet talk him out of retirement for just one game)

game 7: Carson Palmer (I'm sure the Bengals would let him go if we promise to only play him for one game)

game 8: Chris Simms (his dad was HOF so he has to be good too right? Plus he's left handed so that'll throw off the opposing defense)

game 9: Matt Leinart (we have to promise Houston to have him back by sundown. Plus he's left handed...see above)

game 10: Joseph Addai (ok the left handed thing is losing it's appeal and it should be painfully clear I'm running out of ideas by now so I won't go on)

First people want to get rid of Painter and they want a veteran QB. We bring in Kerry Collins. After 1 game (with less than 3 weeks of preparation) Collins goes in and has an off game with a virtually brand new offensive line. Then people want Painter back. Now we want to overpay for Kyle Orton (who Miami couldn't persuade Denver to part with) and give up valuable draft picks that could help cure some of our defensive woes for a QB who would only play until Manning comes back? Wow you REALLY want to try to make a run for the SB in Indy don't you? It's time to face it, playing at home in the SB is not really much of an option anymore. Don't get me wrong, anything is possible but the odds are just a little bit more than slightly stacked against us.

This is the stupidest idea I've ever seen.

You can't have two lefties starting in back to back weeks.

You have to break them up, else the element of surprise is gone come week 9.

    Think next time.

  7. Before the game I went on and on predicting Clark to have a MONSTER game specifically due to what you mentioned above. WTH happened?

I think you're right about the playcalling. For the first time in a very long time, we have an offensive coordinator that has to call a game. It isn't working out.

Here's an idea....why not have Manning on the sideline calling plays? I mean we're paying the guy $23 million why not get some of that juicy brain involved?

Unless things have changed, I thought the OC had always called a play that Peyton had the authority to audible out of.

Kerry's been with the team just over 2 weeks going into the game, and it's been said he needs to call out the entire play name.

This offense is so new to him, he's probably thinking too much, and not yet able to just play the game.

I think Kerry wasn't able to audible out, and Link didn't follow his assignment. The combo killed them.

  8. BOTTOM LINE; Colts are finally going to pay the price for 1)zero back up at QB 2) weak offensive line 3) weak running game. Face it fellow loyal Colts fans Collins is not mobile and not young and not successful. It would not sh

ock me to see Painter or someone else come in if and when the season appears to be lost. One bad year is not the end of the world. Live to fight tomorrow!!!

    Half empty, huh?

    I know, I know, realistic.

Well, not until the actually play a game.

Is it O.K. to be hopeful, or is that just preparing for the noose?

  9. Right now, the Colts are underdogs. However, I believe this only because no one knows who they are now.

With Peyton, games were very predictable, in that, I had no worries if they were down 17 points in the first quarter. I knew it wasn't enough, and it often wasn't. Now, we don't know what to expect.

Being competitive in this first game may be important for future success.

I'm very excited, curious, and hopeful to see who this new team is.

  10. OK, so now we can all debate who's better...

Kerry Collins or Matt Cassel? lmao

J/K, trying to keep it light. I know how it feels to watch your team without it's marquee player and, to be honest, I hope that Manning only misses minimal time. It doesn't mean as much when one of your rivals is missing their most important player, and I also have him in FF this year. rotfl

Oddly enough, I was in a FF draft last night, and a Pats fan picked up both Mannings for QB.

I thought that odd, especially after yesterday's news, and that he picked up Peyton (fairly early).

  11. As soon as he's feeling up to it, and desires to do so, yes, he should.

Having heard that he won't make the Houston trip, I'm wondering is CBS has already contacted him for permission to watch the game with him on his couch, so they can offer live updates of his emotions. Naw, that'd be FOX.

  12. dude seinfeld'sawesome, but yea i seen the thread.

    Yep, Seinfeld is awesome.

That 'Manning out for the season' rumor started from an Indy radio host, who got it from those nasty 'reliable sources'.

    No substantiation.

I'm not going to worry about it until it happens, and if it happens, well, things happen.

Only official thing I've heard is that it will be continuously re-evaluated.

  13. The Texans already had some good players on defense to begin with. And do you really believe that JJ Watt is not NFL ready? Wow. He is one of the most impressive defensive lineman that I have seen come out of college in quite some time.

I can't believe I having to tout the Texans horn here, but you are way underestimating the Texans defense.

Ryan Leaf was one of the most impressive QBs coming out of college in '98.

Let us allow the kids to play first, before we go crowning their Keesters.

  14. Wade Phillips is a proven defensive genius in this league. His 3-4 defenses has given us fits many times over the years.

Houston is only going to get better and better. The good news is that Wade Phillips will likely get another head coaching job down the road, but he will leave his mark on the Texans and we will have to deal with that for several years to come.

Wade is a very good DC, but proven genius' don't coach for Jerry Jones.

Anyway, they're converting to a 3-4 and that usually takes time to establish, and get the right personnel.

Another thing. Wade could very well be the next Texans HC.
