  1. Im just saying he shouldn't judge me after only being on the forum for 3 days.

I always deliver anything I say with an authoritative tone, it's how I was taught in school and in university, don't say I think, always sound authoritative.

Like I said, more like 7 for 10

I've always disliked McClendon and everyone always liked him, now he's gone and Im happy.

    I never said 46-10...

Now, please mods close this thread.

That's fine when disciplining your children, but, outside of that, this is where it gets you.

    I'll look up the 46-10

  2. Truth is, no one knows what will happen to Indy if the Colts have to go several weeks, or even the season, without Manning. It could be disastrous or they could still win 10 or 11 games. Sometimes NOT depending on your best player brings out other strengths, and the focus of the offense will undoubtedly shift because no one will be expecting Kerry Collins to do what Manning does.

I think there are two x-factors to keep in mind:

    1. The team could rally around him, or rally around NOT having him. If you follow me here... other leaders on the team step up and say, "Peyton is gone for the year, so we have to man up and do this without him." Despite some of the doom and gloom on this forum, none of you are in that locker room every week. Do you really think Freeney and Mathis and Saturday and Wayne are going into the tank if Manning is out for a while? They're prideful, professional football players. They'll pull it together and the Colts are still a team to be reckoned with, #18 or no #18.

    2. What happened in the '06 playoffs? Aside from a brilliant second half against the Patriots, Manning didn't exactly carry the Colts through that postseason. Many Indy fans on the old board even though Rhodes was your Super Bowl MVP that season. You had an historic defensive turnaround and a strong running game, and you know what happened.

Teams that rely almost exclusively on their QBs do not win a lot of championships. That's a fact. As a Patriots fan I know Brady's best years (2007, 2010) ended in disappointment. Maybe, in some ways, it will help the Colts to not have #18 there to save the day yet again.

    Agreed. Thank you.

  3. haha,

You're new here, don't be making judgements when you only posted 10 comments. Sure I may have a bad first impression, but actually read my stuff and you'll realize that a lot of it ends up being right.

A lot, it's because I don't just post stuff to post stuff, I want to get the fans perspective on the topic. I even get some (not a lot) of my opinions based on some of them.

? jgstriker has a lesser opinion because he/she doesn't have as many posts as you? How many posts does it take to be a real poster?

Andy, it's not your opinions, it's how you deliver them, as if you had inside info, or could see the future. You often come across with an authoritative tone. Then you need to pat yourself on the back when you are correct. Even when making some pretty common sense predictions that are real possibilities, not far fetched at all.

3 for 10 is very good for a major league hitter, but not so good for a prognosticator.

McClendon? I had no idea you didn't like him. Had no idea others thought you were crazy for that opinion. Had no opinion on him myself. I only had hopes for him, and knew that Polian made comments early this year that he may be starting for us this season.

BTW, the Pack didn't beat us 46-10 in preseason game#3. I marked your words.

  4. I am not sure if Peyton is going to play this season. This sure is not a good picture we are faced with right now. I just hope that if/when we start this losing streak that I see in front of us that other Colts fans have seriously prepared themselves for this possibility. It could be a major panic on this board soon.

I just want for Peyton to get well and hopefully he can get back sooner than later. But as a fan, I also don't want him to do anything that could jeopardize his future health. He just had twins and he has a whole life ahead of him after football.

    O.K., I understand now.

You're trying to make sure we're all prepared for the big time disappointment by trying to get us all in a panic now, so when it really does happen, we'll be used to it.

    Thanks.

Gives me a whole new perspective on Chicken Little.

  5. Why would anyone listen to anything Deion Sanders has to say. He is the stupidest man on TV. He would fit right in with the * on Jersey Shore.

Boy, if Michael Irvin wasn't on TV I would have agreed with everything you said. It's close though.

  6. Just think about it: If Manning misses 2 or 3 games, that could still be 2 or 3 wins. Then when Peyton comes back, he may not be 100%, but he could still be good enough to 2-3 more games before our bye week. Our bye week is also Week 11, so that gives him a week to relax or the team to relax during Peyton's injury time. Out of those 8 games, we could win 4-5 of them, meaning that if we win the rest of the games we could be 11-5. It's possible. Let's hope and pray the big fella can get well, and get his 2nd SB ring!

  7. Look, I would have liked to have seen Harris make it also.

The fact of the matter is that he was available for a reason.

Here in Chicago, they were thrilled to have him out of town, and wondered what Indy saw in him recently to interest them.

Perhaps he's a bad attitude guy in the locker room, and his play didn't justify overlooking it. We wouldn't see that on the field, nor in a press snippet.

We all knew this was a little risk, high reward issue, and it didn't work out. We'll move on now.

  8. Dumb choices...shouldnt have cut Chick, should have kept Devan over Pollak. James over Donald Brown? WOW!!! Hope Darren Evans makes the roster.

The Colts need to cut injury prone Gonzo

Philip Wheeler needs to go to.

Dont really know about Harris cause i didnt get to see him play much but i feel they shoult have kept him over Moala

It's entirely possible both Wheeler, and Brown are bait in trade talks. Both may have value to someone else. Just not in our system.

  9. It almost has to be a hole recognition problem Coffee, but you would think going into his third year he would be somewhat better at dentifying the holes once they open. It would not surprise me if he does not make the roster and is delegated to the practice squad, if that is possible.

In my opinion he should have already showed improvement but he has not.

    Hey Coffee,

Example#1 seems reasonable, but I'm not so sure about Example#2.

In Example#2, from that point of view is appears that the only obvious hole was to take a hard left (parallel to the line of scrimmage), and out run Reitz's man to the outside. From his point of view, I'm not sure it'd be any different.

That being said based on a still. While the motion may change my mind.

Also, someone mentioned the RB Coaching. Didn't we just hire a new RB coach over the winter? He's only had a few weeks with him.

I'm not a big fan, nor detractor of Brown. I'd like very much to see him succeed, but based on the still picture, I'm just not sure of Example#2.

  10. I live in Chicagoland, and this is the game I watched that made me a Colts Fan.

'In 1965, Baltimore tied Green Bay for the conference title. With HB-Tom Matte quarterbacking the club because of injuries to Unitas and Gary Cuozzo, the Colts lost a controversial 13-10 "sudden-death" playoff contest to the Packers.'

Since I have such a disdain for the Bears, I root for the Packers, but I'm a Colts fan all the way, forever and ever.

  11. You have obviously never met the man. But let me ask you, how does a coach that, "does not have the intelligence to keep pace with how fast the game is at this level," go 14-2 his first year inlcuding a trip to the SB and 10-6 in a year when most people beleive the Colts should not have even been in the playoffs because of all the injuries? Oh wait, I now it's only because of Manning, right?

And that's not true either but I know it makes a good sound byte.

The Caldwell dislike comes from two things... not going for a perfect season and because he shows no emotion. The perfect season, I can understand somewhat, it's kind of childish for fans to think that way but I understand. People not liking him because he shows no emotion is what is hilarious. Most people do not have the intelligence and self discipline to control their emotions and they do not understand how someone can do that. So rather than looking at themselves and asking, "[a]m I too emotional, should I learn to control my emotions better?" They decide to attack the non emotional person and try to display it as some sort of weakness. Afterall, many of these fans are very emotional at the game or watching it on TV, they throw things, get in fights, cheer, cry, etc. and they just intimidated by someone who does not do that.

    :) Excellent.

  12. Chick is an example of the "Polian effect". Chick has proven in the past that he simply does not possess NFL level talent. Polian can't or won't see this obvious fact so Chick keep coming back year after year. Instead of signing someone who can actually play at the NFL level, Polian will keep bringing him to fail and waste a camp roster spot every year.

If my memory serves me well, this is only Chick's second year on the team.

Polian DID sign someone who can actually play at the NFL level (Anderson & Brayton). How good either of those two are at this point is another topic.

  13. Our defensive philosophy has been slowly changing with Coyer at the helm. He has made it more aggressive, which I like. On offense, we are starting to change our philosophy a bit now too. We have become more concerned about getting a stronger running attack going. I think teams falter when they try to make drastic changes quickly. I like what we have been doing so far; slow, subtle changes so we can adjust if whatever we are trying doesn't work.

This is how I feel about it also.

  14. Not trying to sound condescending, but do you understand what 'game planning' means? Part of it is taking advantage of your opponents weaknesses, trying to get favorable matchups, as well as the week before of prep for that opponent.

On top of that the Colts historically don't pay attention to field position, or too much to the clock, etc. Things you need to do to win the game. You know what they're looking for, I won't go into that.

    Agree?

I do. It seems odd to me that, after all these years, some don't understand this.

The Colts do not care about winning the preseason, nor should they.

They're preparing for the regular season.

They're not a team that needs to 'learn how to win'. They concentrate on evaluating the players, so they can determine who they can win with in the regular season, and on to the playoffs.

That's what I want out of the preseason as well.

  15. Look i love the Colts dudes. But if u seriously think after Manning this team is going to be anything over a .500 team ur drinking some really good Kool-Aid. I can only think of one team that has lost there Star QB at the end of his career and went on to be great. Well two-- 49ers got Young, then after him have stunk for the most part(dont want to hear about Garcia) and then Greenbay this last year with Rongers after Favre.

Kool-Aid huh? Is it so far fetched to believe this franchise won't evolve into the post-Manning era?

I think you've gotten hold of some bad Scotch. You think you see the future? Well, there's 5 years until Peyton retires. There's plenty of time to groom a replacement, and change the philosophy of how to win without Manning.

I'm not sayin' it's a given the Colts will not struggle. I'm just sayin' that you can't say they will.

There's a small handful of QBs in the league right now being considered as winners, and another handful up-and-coming.

How can you predict, right now, that our next QB won't be in one of those two categories five years from now.

You don't know what our defensive philosophy will be in 5 years.

You don't know what our offensive philosophy will be in 5 years.

You don't know what our personnel will be in 5 years.

Do you know where you're going to be in 5 years?

Have you ever heard of the phrase 'don't cross the bridge until you get to it?

    STOP PANICKING! It's not healthy.
