  1. Carson Palmer is the type of qb who isn't going to make his receivers better but his receivers make him better. In Cincy he had ocho/housh/Henry and the #1 running game with benson to bail him out. With Oakland, he was forced to carry the team and we all know he isn't that Strong mentally. I think he's going to a good situation with Larry bailing him out.

And yeah, it's hard to develop with so many qbs but his problem out of college was his hands. Maybe we can change that.

  2. He knows nothing of this team. It seems like the walden signing to him is bad because walden won't reproduce the same pass rush as freeney. Well duh, that's not what he is being brought in for. And despite what he says about him being second worst against the run, many credible have said otherwise. It seems he thought we brought him in to play every down and that's not the case.

It seems everyone thinks we overpaid because they don't know who the player is.

And it's AMAZING how mike Wallace who is getting 11/year to run a streak doesn't even crack the top 10. No sign of Kruger near the top either.

Yeah, take what this guy says with a grain of salt, seems like he's only attracted to names.

  3. I also think he will be a very good addition to the team. And much cheaper than whoever the "wopper" was. Have no idea who the "wopper" was, but certainly not a player who would have signed a 1 year, 1.5M guar. deal!

Yeah, thing is, if he turns into a good player we can then give him the contract he wants.  I like the way this deal was set up.  Glad he chose us.

  4. I think walden is one of those guys that does his job and that's it. Many have said he sets the edge against the run very good and if that's all pags want him for then I would not doubt the defensive genius.

Most likely walden will be in on running situation and Hughes will be in on passing situations.

He's not a high profile guy, he's an under the radar / unsung hero.  One of those guys who don't show up in the stat sheet but makes a significant impact on the game.

EDIT:  TBH, I like this signing because it makes sense.  In order to become successful in this league, you have to take care of business within your own division first.  We play in a division with Arian Foster, MJD, and CJ2k.  I think our priority should be stopping the run first. LOL.  Now that I think about it, I'm glad that we got a "run first" OLB/DE.  I think Avril would have been another Freeney and Kruger was out of the question anyway because we weren't going to pay for him what Cleveland did.

  5. The Ravens have already filled some of those holes with the last 3 previous drafts....

Year in and year out, the Ravens are one of the best teams in the draft.   Newsome is a tremendous judge of talent.   If they indeed have 12 picks as you say,  then they're in great shape.    The strength of this draft is defense.    They should do just fine...

Welllll, drafting from that 32 spot is kinda hard.  But from what I've been reading, it could be done this draft.

  6. I don't know... don't underestimate the strengths of a good system and strong coaching. Lots of people predicted the demise of the Patriots when names like Lawyer Milloy, Ty Law, and Willie McGinest walked out the door. The Ravens have, IMO, quietly done a nice job this offseason of replacing some parts and retooling their roster. With the draft still out there, plus some capable free agents who are getting cheaper by the week, I wouldn't sleep on Baltimore.

I have to agree.  I've read and some people have told me that safties and LB's in this draft are gonna drop.  Ravens are going to be able to grab some good players even at the 32 spot.

  7. Some of the NT coming out of college are not true NTs IMO this kid is,and you are entitled to your opinion, its not a big deal,Lol you probably may be in the minority,no big deal, you like the kid and you will support him,im basing on things ive seen staff say, they are high on him,and what ive seen myself, this kid if healthy will be a force if he starts or not

Oh yeah, I'm high on him too just like the staff, but I haven't heard the staff say they believe he'll be our starter this year.  If that was the case, we wouldn't have brought in Franklin and kept a rotation of Chap/Mckinney/Tevasu.  I agree totally with Pags and the staff, this kid is special and will become special, it's just when is what got me thinking.

  8. I would be shocked if healthy if he doesn't prove you wrong

I guess I'm in the minority here. lol.  I'm just realist, and history/percentages and all that other crap says that most NT's/DT's come out of college on fire.  And that's for healthy ones, we're dealing with a guy who has recovered from playing on a bum knee.  I'm just looking at the chances.  He has more stuff going against him then for him.  I'm not saying there's not a chance he becomes our starter this year because the work ethic and motor is there, but this early for him to be our starter on opening day, kind of a longshot to me.

  9. LOL yeah, neither did anyone else before they did. Always thought that was such a silly thing to say in support of a position.

Your first point being dismissed out of hand, why can't he beat them out?

Neither is Andrew Luck....it is the off-season.

    LOL why?

Anyway, Chapman was the starting DT on a BCS National Championship Team that held their undefeated opponents...scoreless. And was part of a defensive unit that led the nation in rush defense (72.2 ypg), total defense (183.6 ypg) and scoring defense (8.2 ppg) as a senior. Absent his surgery (for a torn anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus) he is a day 1 starter. And barring significant problems with his recovery, there is nothing to suggest he won't be when he is cleared.

It would appear that Coach Pagano agrees...

Ok, I'm a big Chap fan like yourself (and Pags) but we will see how it goes.  I hope I am wrong and he is the next big thing to come into the league and he becomes a huge steal for us.  I know what he did at Alabama and I know he played hurt, but will he just be able to step right in and adjust to the NFL speed of play when he hasn't played a down in the NFL?  QB's are different because they have been groomed mentally to the point they are NFL ready before their senior year.  Positions like NT have a harder time because when they hit the NFL, they play bigger, faster, and smarter lineman.  The DL and OL positions are the ONLY positions in the NFL where contact happens EVERY down.  Unless you're the next big thing (which I hope Chap is) it will take time to get used to that.

But I hope you and Chap prove me wrong.

  10. I doubt it. Chapman probably beats them all out at Training Camp. But he is a great addition to the mix. McKinney is on notice.

Chap hasn't played a down in the nfl. No way he beats them out. He won't get cut but he's not starting. Unless he's the next best thing in the league, he is not making much noise. Trust me, I'm a big chap fan and want to see him become a monster. But realistically, he doesn't have the playing experience or time yet to do so. He needs to develop

  11. The cap works somewhat...Mark Cuban has...

Mark Cuban just won a ring and it wasn't a coincidence that team had the highest payroll for that year. Lol. And mark Cuban is a smart man. Reason why the mavs aren't doing good is because Cuban has gutted his team out and signed a lot players to short term contracts so e can win the upcoming "cp3/Dwight/smith" sweepstakes

And like i said, if it was a big market team, the core of Westbrook/Durante/harden/Ibaka

And all those teams you named, they have good gms. Now, what you bring up is the flip side which is totally correct, there are big market teams with CRAP gms but it isn't like those teams are in NBA lottery heaven.

And again, similar to the spurs, the celtics have been blessed with a good gm. Especially in the 80's. the genius Celtic gm who built a dynasty by trading his best players or a pick and trading for other pieces.

But you prove my point, if you have a good gm in a big market, it's open season. Imagine a good gm in a small market working with half the money. He has to make sure every step he take is a good one because one bad contract and that team is done. In a big market, they have the money to eat it.

And yeah, a lot of teams are over the cap but not by much. You won't see a small market team paying as much luxury tax as a big market team. Trust me, if it wasn't a problem then why was a the issue of a hard cap almost cancelled the entire season? The "new luxury tax" is basically a hard cap in disguise. You'll see next year how free agency plays out. I mean look at the past trade deadline, this was one of the most quietest ones in history.

And the heat, you have to research on that, that was 6 years in the making. Once again, pat Riley Is a genius.
