Yep something like that. If we sign Ricky Jean Francois today I think that number goes down to around 13-15 million.
I hope we get RJF. A line of Redding-RJF/Mckinney/Chap-Nevi/Moala sounds nice and fat to me lol

The thing is, IMO it goes like this:
Top tier FA's (Big names, wallace, etc.) $6+ million/year in salary.
2nd Tier FA's: $3-5 million/year
3rd & lower: 2$ million and lower.
Toler to me is a 2nd tier player. He's a solid #2 cornerback. $5 million a year for him is pretty good in my eyes. Anything lower would have been a steal!

Why does everyone keep thinking we overpaid people?
Because they don't know who the person is. So if it isn't a big name, we overpaid.

I can't put a number on it and this is why.
Last year, the team wasn't Pags officially. It still had pieces left over from the old regime. Now that Pags/Grigs have put their stamp on this team, we will now see how Pags want this to play. It will be then we will discover out identity, our strengths, our weaknesses, our holes, etc.
So ask me this question next year and i'll have a number, but right now, this is the first year we are really going to see what the new regime can do.

I am going to love seeing Laron crashing down in some exotic blitz drawn up by Pagano and smacking the living crap out of a running back. This defense is getting nasty.
-
Did not say he is....so nothing to be sorry about. I mentioned what Ozzies outlook is and I like Bardens.....
And no Doss is not old like Boldin....Boldin flat out got the shaft...I love the guy!
Yeah, no more bail out catches from boldin. But I see what you're saying, I just don't agree with what Ozzie is doing.

Has the contract been reported yet?
-
Not worried about the safety position. Too many options between Landry, Pollard, and the deep safety draft.
-
I don't want to overpay Avril. I like the switch but ONLY if it means we're signing another piece to the defense.

Lord have mercy. Peyton Manning and Wes Welker is going to be deadly. Imagine how their redzone offense is going to be. SMH.
I don't care what you guys say, it looks like it's going to be the 49ers/Seahawks & Broncos in the SB.

How do you guys feel about Stewart Bradley?
-
Just saw on the nfl.com free agency wire we have visits from laron Landry and Stewart Bradley, so we're not done filling holes yet.

With butler, Davis, and tiler signed, it's no need to draft a cb with our first pick unless its a sure fire cb. I can see us picking up a dime cb in te later rounds.
-
You don't have this type of cap space often. Toler, Thomas and Cherilous were solid signings, but with this type of money, you would like to get one true game changer.
I hope we can grab asoughma. Then we could draft a safety in the draft instead of signing Landry. This draft isnsupposento be loaded with safties

I don't know how we didn't get Vasquez. We should have thrown money at him. But I guess he wanted to play for a contender because I'm pretty sure the broncos are going to the afc championship this year. I'm pretty happy with our FA so far. No big names besides Avril but good guys.

They are essentially trading Boldin 6' 1 220 for Tandon Doss of IU.6' 2 210..I think Blood mentioned this earlier in the thread.
Doss was exceptional at IU....is an athlete...and has a great vertical. As Blood said, "Ozzie is pretty good at the next man up" philosophy. You never know, they may be going after Bardens of the Giants too>>>> Who knows? I would not mind having that big boy!!!
Doss is no boldin, I'm sorry

Since we lost a lot of our high price FA prospects, I say we go for thisnguy

Ugly for the Ravens. People say Boldin hasn't done anything for the Ravens don't know anything.
Boldin was their leading reciever ever since he got there.
Boldin was Flacco's security blanket. He bailed Flacco out on a lot of bad throws.
Boldin is such a weapon because he is basically a WR in a TE's body. People are trying to say Pitta and Dickson will suffice. I don't see those 2 being effective in the slot.
Flacco will miss Boldin. All they have (as far WR's) are field stretchers. Who's going to go over the middle now?
-
Seems like Welker is trying to show the Pats he's worth the price he's asking for. Look for a team to become close to signing him, and if the Pats feel it's reasonable, look for them to swoop in and sign him

Man Seattle is building something nice. Tate, Rice, Harvin. That is one versatile and nice WR core. Wilson should have no problems running that offense next year.

That Hayden contract was the beginning of the end of the run for Polian. He was a good corner given top notch corner money. Thought it was insane when they did it. Mix in a couple bad drafts , and a injury to the franchise and you got the worst team in football. The Polian's just made some very poor draft and free agent choices at the end, most notably not having a functional QB to takeover in case of disaster.
I couldn't believe people were mad when Irsay fired him. I couldn't wait for him to leave.
-
It's crazy we are even talking about free agency after all those Polian years of the status quo.
Yeah, one of the reasons why we couldn't build a team for Peyton for so many years. I really didn't like "sign our own" idea. I understand if te see was talented but if it was a Hayden type guy, look at free agency before we give out a contract.
I like this regime. They are building the team through the draft and free agency while evaluating our own talent.
