I hope they keep Turbin next year...he's proven he's got value to this team.
-
whether they're eliminated or not, one thing you can't say often is that the team doesn't play hard and fight. Other than the KC game, they've competed in every game this year. They'll play like last week I feel.
-
well considering the O line went up against a far better overall D front in MN, I think they'll be ok...just can't constantly be throwing deep because Mack is a special player and will make a play eventually if you keep doing that.
-
You know we're a spoiled fanbase when THIS is considered a down year.
that said, I agree.....and I really don't think this team is far off and I'm standing by saying that this was a reset year.
-
you know even with Khali Mack, the Colts have more sacks than the Raiders..
if the O line plays like last week, I can see the Colts dominating TOP....of course Oakland has a far better offense than the Vikings so we'll have to see how that goes.
-
also as long as Josh McNary isn't wearing a Colts uniform next year will be a big plus too.

As long as Grigs and Pags get me at least 2 very solid pass rushers out of this off season draft and FA periods, talent added to secondary, add aditional D line talent, II can deal with having E. Jack and Morrison as the starters. You can't solve every problem in one off season. Its clear they like to cover with safeties. Green and Geathers can do that. Personally I really like Edwin Jackson. They may turn around and do opposite of what I'm saying, but by this time we should know Chuck and Ryan by now.
I think they're going to prioritize pass rush...just having an average pass rush will make the secondary infinitely better. But it also wouldn't surprise me if someone like Dalvin Cook is available when they pick that they take him and go D later. But it also depends on what they do in free agency too. Man I love this time of year and discussions

I know there's going to be some D talent available at 14(if the Colts stay in that spot)....but if someone potentially special is available like Cook, that might be too tempting to pass up.
Just have to wait and see how the draft board ends up falling.

Ratings have been going down, but they're not awful. I think the players enjoy it when it's in Hawaii, I don't know why they keep moving it around.
Wonder if cost has anything to do with it.....The cost to do it vs how much they make from it.

They will keep him for sure they got rid of Collins
that and I think Edwin Jackson has been coming on so well he could be DQ's replacement next year (depending on how the draft goes of course)

You mean like Frank Gore......
luckily he's the exception

what is it with players with no injury history come to the Colts and get injured constantly lol
-
And so ends his Colts tenure.
-
I bet Gore gets the 1000 yards....Colts going up against 2 suspect run D's the next couple weeks. And I can see them trying to do a ball control game against Oakland because they're a potent offense and trying to keep them off the field.

I think Edwin is a good piece. Love his passion and his leadership.
I'll admit Morrison has looked a little bit better, although I'm still leery of his speed. I have have a little bit of interest in Deon King. I just like his size and his build. Has good speed and I saw him make a really nice hit on special teams. Just speculation for right now, but something keeps telling me he can play if given a chance. Might have something there. Still need to look at improving the linebacking corps in this draft though.
Very true, if you can land a top end ILB then take it. But it also wouldn't surprise me if they take Cook or Fournette in the first if they're sitting right there staring them in the face.
This is going to be an interesting draft for sure. Improve the pass rush and LBs and this D takes a massive jump next year. On top of them being in year 2 of the system.

I think you seek continuity with Ted Monachino and give him better players to work with through the draft and free agency. That is what I think. I don't think you run for every flavor of the month that comes available. We'll be in the second year of our scheme which cuts down the learning curve considerably and he'll have or should have better players to work with. I'm confident this D will look better next season as long the injury bug doesn't rip us apart.
Me too...unfortunately, the injury bug has been really the one constant for the Colts the last 10+ years lol

I think you look at firing them after giving them better players to work with in 2017 and we still can't even make it into the playoffs. I don't think you fire them in 2016 knowing you've got all kind of holes on the defense and parts of the offense. Do it after you've given them something to work with and despite that it doesn't look any better. I feel this thing will look better if we improve the talent level of that defense mainly. The O line is still a work in progress, but there's some pieces in place there. Both sides need parts, but the O line doesn't need as many parts as the defense.
which is why I think there were most likely no plans in doing anything after this offseason....I bet this is a 2 year deal depending on how next year turns out. Grigson went hard on O line this offseason and it's looking to be paying off now, just has to carry over the next 2 games and next year. This offseason hit the D hard, especially linebackers. Really if the D line and O line can stay somewhat healthy next year they can be very good, as has been witnessed the last half of the season. And I've been saying that the linebackers have been the big weakness, not the D line, but Edwin Jackson is starting to shine and Morrison is playing MUCH better lately(save for the Houston game when the whole team crapped the bed). If they can get a legit pass rusher, this D could make a huge jump next year.
Now if the team stumble again next year, I can see that being it for Grigson and Pagano.

keep Todman (he's a very good returner), keep Turbin as he's great in short yardage and change of pace. Keep Butler because he's proven to be position flexible and can be good depth at corner and safety. All 3 should be cheap cap wise.
Cut loose DQ...Edwin has made him expendable and Morrison has actually played much better lately (good news for next year hopefully)
Keep Walden, very good edge setter and can be a decent pass rusher---has only gotten better each year of his time with the team.
unsure about Adams (he's lost a step but still has some juice) Guess it depends on how they view Geathers and Greene together.---that'll probably be a very tough decision.
-
This is Ted's first season and the D overall has shown improvements the last half of the season. He's a first timer and needs time to grow too.
-
Unless there's an obvious big upgrade over Pagano available then I see no reason to just fire him for the sake of firing him.
-
That's some real improvement the last half of the season. I think more needs to be made of the improvement.
-
The play calling sure helped but when the colts did go long Luck had plenty of time.....not sure how MN is against tight ends but I know Houston is one of the best in the league covering them.......but also the Colts ran for 161 yards today and Luck only had 8 of them.....o line has only given up 9 sacks the last 6 games.....they're really trending the right direction.
-
He whole OLine played amazingly today.
-
This is what you get with a team with a lot of youth....but they're showing what they're capable of.

I will say, depending on who else is still available, I think a Fournette or Cook my be too tempting to pass up draft wise
