  1. yeah they clearly were looking at Kinlaw and thinking it was a nobrainer. What Buck has done for the defense since the minute he stepped foot in Indianapolis made that trade a success, regardless of what Kinlaw might have turned into…
  2. There is something to be said about letting your team grow together. I’m watching a lot of turnover right now in the league, and every year people think and say team X had the best offseason because of the heavy hitters they brought in… rarely does it translate that way.
  3. There is no formula. The league is constantly evolving. Those that evolve (and have strong consistent qb play) win. The approach to win in the trenches isn't a bad concept. It can make a decent qb look much better and can cover up holes on the defense. The Raiders are going all-in on the d-line. Will be interesting to see what results they can get with Minshew under center.
  4. I don’t know. I don’t follow grades like some do. I’m not sure anyone really even played the slot last year, since Kenny only missed one game…
  5. the fact that Kenny isn’t re-signed is interesting… I could see us making a push for Snead as the splash move. Maybe not. But there is definitely smoke there.
  6. I don’t value complaining on opening day of free agency. That isn’t independent thinking, it’s just complaining without knowing what moves may be made in the coming days… And about something that the gm couldn’t be more clear regarding his stance.
  7. … it’s day 1 of legal tampering period. Samsun Ebukam was a game changer for the defense last season and was signed on day 2. I wouldn’t have been upset about McKinney. I think he’s a stud. But I don’t know what the strategic plan is of the Colts either, and as @NewColtsFan has repeatedly said, don’t bet that we will be signing anyone outside our four walls for the $17 million a year he is getting. What do you expect? To trade a 2nd and 5th and throw $150 mil at Brian burns? It’s the first day of a long offseason. who is to say McKinney wasn’t offered similar money and turned his nose up to Indianapolis? Can you even comprehend such a thing?
  8. they are looking solid heading into the big ten tournament. They usually play strong in it, so they are clear favorites to win it as well. Just have to prepare for life without big ten officiating. All my Purdue friends say it’s final four or another early exit. Just gotta beat that 16 seed this year. Hahah
  9. I’m with you in that I don’t see Ballard spending resources trying to upgrade from Fries. If anything he is going to be “encouraged” that Fries will take another step in becoming a legit right guard. I think he’s very close, which is good news on the o-line, because we are solid everywhere else. I think guard depth and versatility to play center is a need. I would argue that upgrading our swing tackle is much more important. But upgrading starters on the defensive side of the ball and at receiver is far more pressing.
  10. His comments this year about free agency really resonated with me. It really made sense. He basically said (and I'm sure he's said it many times, I just never paid attention to it like I did this time) that they work really hard to understand players and build relationships, which is easy to do when drafting a player. And it's especially easy to do once you have them in the club for several years. They value extending their own for that reason. They simply understand them, their work ethic, their teamwork, etc. In free agency, you really don't have a clue what type of player you are getting. You know what you see on film, and what little encounters you may have had. Maybe you scouted them hard in college, and interviewed in the draft process, but you still don't know the type of teammate and professional they are. That made a lot of sense to me.
  11. Turay was promising. 2019 was going really well for him working under Justin Houston and then he broke his ankle and just never was the same. He had a couple surgeries on it, had a decent ‘21 season but never developed like intended. Injuries suck.
  12. So we are looking at the #3 and 4 receivers then…
  13. it’s actually a move I could see Ballard making. Going into Buckner’s final year, they would be paired to be a force in the middle. It would give us a sure anchor going forward, regardless of what happens to Buckner, Paye and Dayo. We would obviously be taking him in place of Stewart. But with the amount of money and emphasis Ballard put on the fronts, and how aligned Steichen is on that, it’s a move I wouldn’t be shocked by. If there is ever a time to do it, it would be now. Again, buckner could be gone, we might draft his replacement, or draft Paye’s and sign Dayo to an extension replacing Buckner. Who knows what the strategic options are on the d-line, but understand this- if Ballard’s in charge, they won’t be afraid to invest there.
  14. I think it’s pretty telling on Kenny Moore that there are reports of serious interest for the Colts. He would not be back with Sneed brought on the roster… I don’t think it’s hard to believe. He’s a legit player. I think they realize they need to upgrade the secondary both at corner and safety to be competitive with Houston, who is no doubt going to make some moves this offseason. There are some that think Houston can be the biggest threat to KC this year with the right moves. We have to play this offseason right.
  15. I would say they’ll have to be flexible to an extent for it to work best. I don’t see it being a win-win for all parties if he isn’t involved to an extent and satisfied with the end result.
  16. you don’t think he is going to have influence? Whatever team is trading for him would have to work out a signing agreement too. So it’s not as simple as the chiefs just taking the highest bidder. It has to work out for all parties.
  17. I would give up a second round pick for him. And I would look to bring a free safety in to pair. We would be flexible to do whatever at 15, including trading down to make up for the pick given. Sneed and an upgrade at free safety gives versatility on the back end of the defense, and would be major upgrades. It gives the option of drafting d-line early, and using a strong receiver pool to round out the roster. If they are committed to Pittman, then drafting a receiver at 15 is probably not in the cards. Bringing in Sneed cans the idea of a corner as well. A Brock Bowers or Jared Verse? Possible.
  18. why 3 instead of 4, which would tie him to the end of Richardson’s 5th year option?
  19. is this either of you getting on the forum in the evening? 😂 I kid. Much respect to you both.
  20. Yeah I think so too. He was a 100- 1000 receiver with a backup. He's made enough highlight catches in his young career to know what he's capable of. I really just want him to push the limits with him to find out. If there was one pro to Carson Wentz, it was that he could push the ball downfield, creating jump ball opportunities for (what was then a very young/raw) Pittman. He drew a lot of PI calls in '21. We haven't had that since.
  21. His name kind of represents the entire umbrella though. You need a title.
