I think Jan Stenarud is in as well. He was mainly a kicker. I haven't looked it up but I think he is.

Yes, he is the only placekicker in. So Adam would be the second. I hope he gets it.

Please, it's MVP that means most valuable player, there are 3 or 4 QBs who, if on the Panthers this year, would most likely still be undefeated.  In addition to that, his celebrations are the type that only the young and those with IQs below 90 enjoy.

It has to be Watt.  he has almost single handily turned the Texans season around and put them in the playoff hunt (despite that fact that according to some defensive players don't do that for teams).

No he hasn't. They have gotten solid QB play this year from Hoyer which has put them back in the hunt. They also have one of the best receivers in Hopkins. Watt is great but not even remotely an MVP candidate this year IMO.

this is nothing new. luck seems to like to get hit. he likes that concept of the game. hes not cuddled like other whining little babies. dont kill me AMfootball haha

I don't disagree. But that is also why he has been on the sideline most of this season and will continue to miss games if he holds the ball and keeps getting hit. I am not sure why fans get off on their QB being "tough" and taking hits. The most important thing a QB can be to his team is available. If he puts himself in harms way and ends up on the sidelines, who cares if he is tough? Does not do much to help his team from the tub.

  4. Hard to say 100 percent outside of the QB position. For QBs, obviously Manning and Brady and most likely Rodgers, Brees, Ben, Eli. I think Wilson will get there too.

I really hope Adam gets in. If he does not make it as a kicker, I don't think any kicker ever will.

Luck of New England. Seems it follows them. Dig up Gillette and burn it all ...grass, weeds, dirt, goal posts, & anything else found under that tar pit. Send it back from whence it came.

We have had some good fortune this year of getting teams when they have been banged up but we are pretty banged up too and it has cost the last 2 games. This time of year everyone plays through something. The teams with the toughest mentality rise to the top.

I just love that Cardinals team. They remind me of the 2009 Saints. People nitpick their defense and often slap the "Overrated" tag on them, but they did the same thing to the Saints. They play aggressive like we used to.

That team is hungry for success, and if they win 1 more game, they'll reach first time ever, 12 wins. They have to win the SB this year. It would be great seeing a team that's never won anything finally win it.

I like them too. Palmer, Fitz, Arians. Just a great bunch of guys. They are a lot of fun to watch. I hope they keep winning and get the 2 seed as that should lock them up vs the Panthers with a trip to the SB on the line.

Tough loss for the Vikes, but nothing they should hang their head about. They played a very good Cardinals team close. I definitely think they could end up beating Green Bay and taking the NFC North.

The division is most likely over given GB plays Dallas at home this weekend which should be a win and one game lead and they still have the Vikes in GB before season's end. The way things are projecting the Vikes would be the 6th seed and have to go to GB for the WC round. That kind of stinks but who knows maybe they pull the upset.

Norv Turner was maddening last night. No reason to call that reverse from over mid-field when the game was 10-10. What a huge momentum shift. Sometimes he just gets too cute. Just hand the ball to AP!

So after reading these posts and seeing the majority of opinions, the prevailing thought is 'Nothing any other team does matters, we don't need help, we just have to win out so I'm rooting for Houston'. So let me ask this:

IF the Colts lose on Sunday, do you still root for the Texans on Sunday night?

    Double post.

    Still think he is overrated

Not this year. He has really progressed as a pocket passer and is reading the field much better than in previous seasons. I had thought the Seahawks overpaid him this off-season for the type of production they would get but I was completely wrong. He has taken his game to a new level.

Will do AMF. I love behind the scenes pull the curtain back stuff on iconic athletes like Manning & Brady. Thanks for the synopsis too. I appreciate it.

I can't guarantee when I get thru it, but I will share my thoughts on it with you once I do.

Yeah, I think you will really enjoy it. Lots of cool stuff that have not been in other books or articles that I have read anyways.

First off, in week 2 our Oline was not in tack as starters Wendell did not start the season (later placed in IR) , Stork was on PUP and Connolly retired in the off season.  Second, the reason why we threw the ball as we are not the best running team (and our best back at the time Lewis was a back that is better in space, he is now on IR) and Buffalo had a great DL, so why run into a wall.

Third, not sure what you mean by "coaching staff gives him the opportunity to throw TDs even from the 2 yard line"  I take it you have a stat to show this point?   Oh by the way here are the numbers for the two teams scoring:

    NE: 43 TDs, 31 passing, 12 rushing, 0 ST, 0 defense

    Carolina: 43 TDs, 25 passing, 13 rushing, 0  ST, 5 defense

So you claim that the pats are always "passing" for TDs, then how come we have 12 rushing TDs, just a mere one fewer than the Panthers?  Is it maybe that we have a lot of scoring drives due to a successful offense and that we punch the ball in 43 times to Carolina's 38 times.  If we were a pass happy team we would not have nearly as many rushing TDs as Carolina, unless of course you are going to claim the same with Carolina.

As for weapons.  Who exactly is Brandon LaFell, Edelman could not find a job when he went to FA a few years ago, and Amendola is just not getting in a grove. Gronk is great I grant you that, but our receiving corps is not all worldly, altho I am happen with our receivers.

As for the MVP, it should be interesting especially if the Panthers lose a game or two and the Pats run the table.  I can certainly see the voters giving it to Cam if they go 16-0.

But as the stats go, you really can not make an argument between the two.

And as a side note, the pats D and ST have not score a TD all year.  whereas the panthers have 5.

Great stats here Yehoodi. It is amazing that Carolina has gotten 5 defensive scores and the Pats none. I really like the way our D has been playing this year but no scores and very few take aways as well. I hope that changes as the season winds down and we head into the post-season.

I disagree. Check out the Panthers roster from the beginning of the year til now. Cam has had Greg Olsen and no one else. His WRs are Ted Ginn and Jericho Cotchery.

MVP is much more than who has the best stats, IMO. In NE, Brady is throwing TDs when other teams would have given the ball to his RB. The Pats seem averse to running the ball. Since Brady is throwing the ball much more often than Cam is and to more talented receivers, of course his stats will look better than Cam's.   Brady has passed 130 times more than Cam has but has only 6 more TDs than Cam (31 to 25).

I think Cam has been more valuable to his team than Brady has been to his. Carson Palmer is a close second.

NE does not run because its offensive line is in shambles. That is the biggest difference IMO between Carolina and NE. Cam has a much better offensive line and run game. Brady has a terrible Oline and Blount who is a JAG except when he plays the Colts. Brady is asked to do more for his team to win every week than Cam on top of being a better QB hands down. He is blowing Cam away in every measurable passing stat this season. That being said, if Cam goes undefeated the MVP is his as that is such an amazing feat. If he loses a game then it probably goes to Brady or it is a split MVP between him and Brady. Palmer is a distant third at this point but certainly has a chance to close in these next 4 games.

Yeah Nuk and Watt don't even have to be named. Hoyer has shown that he is worthy of the contract we gave him, though he isn't Brady or Rodgers by any stretch of the imagination. Key players to look out for would be Whitney Mercilus and the rookie Kevin Johnson at CB. Johnson has his rookie moments but the guy has shown a nose for the ball and great tackling ability so far. J.D. Clowney has also shown the burst we have been hoping to see since he was drafted. I know I read that Belichick plans on putting more than one blocker on Watt, so it'll be up to Clowney, Mercilus and Covington to show their worth against the Patriots o-line.

The Texans run game has been severely lacking with Arian gone, but our wideouts have stepped up for Hoyer. The TEs have finally been getting some touches the past few weeks too. I think it's going to be a good game, Brady in a chess match against his former DC Romeo Crennel.

Thanks that is helpful for players to look out for as I watch the game. We are hoping to get Hightower back for this game which would team him  back up with Collins. They are the best LB duo in football but have not been on the field together in a month. I am also anxious to see how Butler matches up with Hopkins. I have to think Brady tests your secondary but I would also like to see us try to get the run game going. How are the Texans vs the run? Is Wilfork plugging the middle?

One is already second all time.   One isn't

I realize that but my point has been it is harder to win 12 straight games in the NFL by a team that won 7 games last year as opposed to the Warriors who are the defending champs and the best team in the NBA. Carolina's streak to me is more impressive. It is fine if you feel the Warrior's is we can just agree to disagree and see where both streaks end up.

am, the anxiety factor for you and the rest of Patriot fans are your games on the road in the Playoffs. New England is much more vulnerable to a loss when away from Gillette. To me, another loss puts you guys behind the 8 ball a little bit. Cincy & Denver can put a lot of pressure on the Pats if this happens. I know the Bengals & Broncos play, and could vault you guys to #2 if you continue to win. The Jets are the biggest problem the Pats face. Could get very interesting if you guys lose that one.

I agree. It is going to be a tough road like it was last year. I just hope we get our guys back and can make a push. A bye is ideal but we have to win out IMO to get it unless the wheels come off with either Cincy or Denver which I don't see happening even though both have some tough games left.

  16. http://espn.go.com/nfl/insider/story/_/id/14325167/russell-wilson-playing-well-seen-there-multiple-reasons-why-nfl

Interesting read on Wilson and the fantastic last few weeks he has had slinging the ball. Seems he is changing his style of play. A few snippets:

Russell Wilson has been playing lights-out over the past three weeks. He has a total QBR of 93.6 (on a 100-point scale), 11 touchdown passes, and zero picks. But he's doing something more -- he's starting to change the narrative on his style of play. This isn't just scrambling Russell making plays on the perimeter. No, these are stick throws, quick reads and accurate strikes down the field from inside the pocket. In his past three starts, Wilson has completed 85 percent of his passes inside the pocket (59-69) for 810 yards and 10 touchdowns with a total QBR of 98.6 on those throws. It's not an exaggeration to say it doesn't really get better.

Wilson is ripping the ball from the pocket and it starts with his eyes. Looking at the tape, the ball is coming out earlier and Wilson is putting some serious heat on his throws because he is seeing the field clearly. That allows him to identify the matchups and anticipate open throwing windows based on the defense's pre-snap alignments/coverage rotations. Whether that is carving up the Steelers' three-deep zone shells or finding Doug Baldwin in positive matchups versus the Vikings, Wilson is processing things quickly and finding his primary targets. And that includes making throws versus zone/man pressure. Over the past three weeks, Wilson has completed 21-of-27 passes for 381 yards, six touchdowns and no interceptions versus the blitz.
