  1. I don't mind it. Makes the point after a little more interesting. I think as the season progresses and the bad weather rolls into the cold weather cities you will see it have more of an effect. I also think we will see more two point conversions which are fun plays.

I agree. Instead of the PAT being almost automatic, it's at least a little more challenging.

  2. I think the Broncos need to figure out their running game to have a better chance, but the Defense certainly is playing lights-out. There are many on the forum that will say they haven't really been tested (the Defense), but they are number one right now (or at least near number one). As Colts fans, over the years, we always heard Defense wins championships. The Defense is already formidable, if they find some rhythm on the Offense, they will be a contender for sure.

  3. also shooting both arms in the air in the touchdown celebration thingy that he does

I have a constant, nagging pain in my right shoulder (although, I doubt it's the same issue Luck has). I can put my arms up in the air. I can use my arm for 99% of everything I want to use it for. However, I'm sure throwing a football downfield would be painful. There's obviously a lot that goes in to throwing. It wouldn't take much of a shoulder injury to make a QB ineffective.

  4. Not for me, anymore that I do not think Peyton is top 5 unlikeable for sitting naked on the face of a doctor in college.   Most folks have a mishap that could make them unlikeable but these mishaps do not auto make you top 5 unlikeable.

How old was Big Ben when the bar incident happened? I honestly don't know, but wasn't that only a couple/few years ago. Personally, I'd be a little more dismissive of things that happened in college than actions years removed from college. And, of course, the severity of the action would come in to play. i.e. sitting on someone's face vs. rape.

  5. If you were to go on Facebook, or read the comments sections for ESPN and NFL.com, it looks like Luck would be put in the top five disliked QB category. There's a lot of resentment against him by other fans due to the media's coverage of him.

It's really hard for me to rate anyone. Like others, I don't have much of a hatred for any individual player.

There was a time way back, after Romo's famous botched snap in the playoffs, that he went onto the disliked QB ranking. Things are always subject to change! Big Ben and Vick were also in the top lists for many people a few years back, and since then the public opinion of them has gradually shifted.

That's strange, but I can see that I suppose. I have many family and friends spread out across the country. They're all in the vicinity of various NFL teams and are big fans of those teams, but not one of them dislikes Peyton Manning. I don't think I would ever dislike someone because of the media's excessive coverage (assuming you mean excessive). I might dislike someone if that media coverage was to convey a negative image of the person, but not just because they're garnering more coverage.

I was talking to my dad the other day and commented about Rodgers. I said if you have to lose to someone, I wouldn't mind losing to him. We just happen to be watching a GB game. Rodgers is on my list of someone I perceive as likeable.

I don't care how much media coverage someone has, if I think they're a nice guy (likeable), I'm okay with that.

I guess the better way to have asked for the top 5 would be (and bottom 5), outside of football, who do you think would be the easiest to hang with? You know, come over, grill some steaks and hang out on the deck in the backyard.

  6. My list is based upon what I perceive their personalities to be...not whether I am a fan of their team.

    Likeable:

    1. Romo :  "Arts and Crafts Tony Romo" is by far the best performance of any QB in a commercial.

    2. Rodgers

    3. Manning

    4. Luck

    5. Wilson:  He's talked about too much, but that's not his fault.  A likeable guy on a dreadful team.

    Unlikeable:

    1. Brady:  How can you like a weak-gripped fraud who dumps it off all of the time?

    2. Newton:  Dripping with arrogance...for absolutely no reason that justifies it.

    3. Nobody

    4. Nobody

    5. Nobody

In the past, I'd put Rivers in the unlikeable list, but I think his performances justifiy his mouthiness, so its a wash there.  I like the fact that he has seven kids (all by the same wife) and reportedly would refuse to move to LA.  Obviously an athlete with the right priorities.

LOL, "Arts and Crafts Tony Romo" is hilarious. He does a great job playing that part.

  7. Yes, sorry to derail. Eli was being talked about so I just gave my opinion on him. We can just agree to disagree as I think he is a pretty solid QB in his own right aside from just his rings.

    Back to topic ....

    I agree, he's certainly a solid QB.

  8. Who said better? Right now he is more accomplished with his 2 rings, 2 SB MVPs, 8-3 playoff record with the most road wins of any QB in the history of the game. Those are some big markers. By the time he is done playing, he will have 50,000+ yards passing, 300+ TDs. His resume is pretty tight especially if he adds another ring.

We're getting a bit off subject here (from the OP, me), but I'll put in my 2 cents. IMO, there's a lot more than just the number of rings a QB has that makes him great or not so great. Eli isn't even close to Peyton or Rodgers. Rings don't make a QB great. If Brady only had 2 rings, he would still be a great QB. The fact Peyton has only 1 ring doesn't mean he's not a great QB. Ring count is only a part of the equation.

  9. whats to hate about wilson? because hes dating this

I'm unfamiliar with Ciara. Upon further review (Google), she's cute, but not drop-dead gorgeous by any means. Based on physical appearance only, I would think a multi millionaire QB could do better.

  10. What's so "interesting" or puzzling about that? Why not? Eli is humble, never draws attention to himself, does not berate officials (like Brady does), and is an all-around good guy. What's not to like? I bet that your bewilderment has a little to do with his beating your Patriots twice in the Super Bowl.

I like Eli too. I thought having Luck, Peyton and Eli in my top 5 was a bit too much though.

  11. Man.. we're putting Tom Brady in that class for deflating footballs?

For me, Brady isn't on my list for deflating footballs. He also comes across as smug. Maybe you folks in NE see him on some local TV I don't see. But, I don't recall him ever projecting a personality I consider as likeable.

I didn't say he can't play football. I'm saying, IMO, he's not likeable.

  12. Why is RW and Cam unlikable??

My dad likes RW too, but, IMO, he comes across as smug. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's my impression. Cam, the Superman thing annoys me. I'm not saying his feats to prompt his Superman things aren't admirable, but I prefer more humility.

  13. In your opinion, in no particular order, what are the top 5 most likeable active QBs? I don't mean most accomplished, I mean likeable. On the flip side, what are the top 5 most unlikeable...

    Most likeable...

    1. *Peyton Manning

    2. Andrew Luck

    3. Aaron Rodgers

    4. Drew Brees

    5. Joe Flacco

    Most unlikeable...

    1. Cam Newton

    2. Philip Rivers

    3. Tom Brady

    4. Russell Wilson

    5. Jay Cutler

*Maybe I'm a little biased, but apparently so are advertisers. :)

I haven't been watching football nearly as much this year (not because of the Colts' win/loss), so perhaps my opinions above would differ now. However, this would reflect my opinions last season.

  14. As I commented on my post for the same link, I think this description (without a doubt exaggerated to some degree) would apply to a great many other players. I don't care if you're 25 years old, you're going to be feeling pain after a game. Sure, Peyton may be feeling it a bit more, but it's certainly applicable to a big number of others. Is it far fetched to suggested any player getting a lot of play time isn't moaning and groaning, or in some pain after a game?
