Smitto brings up a good point, who else has even got a 2nd look anyway? Tressel is the only one is whos got a 2nd interview up to this point.

In 10 years we will all look back and think how "LUCKY" Indy was to have our franchise leader get hurt. It saved this team 10+ years of "rebuilding" on the fly.
QB is everything in todays NFL.... We (Colt fans) will see this in the very near future. When Manning is gone, we already have actually.
I think Indy hit the lottery getting this seasons #1 pick. I was all for trading it ... but not now. The more I have watched and read about Luck. He will be a blessing.
Think you hit the nail on the head man. Now all we need is for Irsay to say Tressel is hired so I can rip BBS a new one.

Your thread is about to get shut down lol
-
Yes - money. What did Collins cost this year, compared to what Luck will get (somewhere) next year?
4 mil. Luck's rookie wage under new CBA rules would cost somewhere between 4-5, 6 at the highest. Looks about the same to me.

Right, but a good coach doesn't get caught with his pants down when Peyton Manning is injured.
Theres no accurate telling if Tressel would be a good or bad coach though so you can't accurately use that equation of yours.
-
Chris Widlic (Local CBS Sports Guy) says he heres Colts WONT hire Tressel. This is saddening if its true, Tressel is easily the best coach avaliable.
-
Lol You're going to use Jim Caldwell as an example of a college coach who was successful in the big leagues?!?!
Getting fired after 3 years does not make one a success......and don't use '09 as a defense, we all know who carried the team. Yeah with Peyton at the helm, Tressel would be made to look better than he actually is. Then when he has to prove his worth, as Caldwell had the chance to do this year, we would see his true colors.
And you are saying any other coach that is hired wouldn't be made to look better than he actually is because of Peyton? Its a two-way street buddy.

Please don't take Dan Dakich as a crediable source of information. He doesn't know what hes talking about half the time.
-
He didnt just turn a blind eye - he helped cover it up! THAT is where I have a problem with it.
Dude theres coaches that have 10000x worse and some of them are even playing in a upcoming Super Bowl (not to name any names). Quit acting like we have to only hire spotless people and have some forgiveness. Its what all these morally, righteous people are saying we should do right?
-
I think you raise a good point about current teams and what they have in having a good defense, run the ball and having an elite QB.

To me it shows a pattern of poor decisions and judgement. Bad ethics are bad ethics. He had similar issues at Youngstown state. I believe that Jim Irsay is a quality guy and is going to get a name coach, he did not get rid of JC to bring another guy in who needs to learn on the job.
He doesn't need to learn to coach like Caldwell did. He knows when to call a timeout and when not to. And no, poor ethics is not universal. What happened at Penn State is not the same thing that happened as USC and what happened at USC is not the same thing that happened at Ohio State. Stop putting everyone under the same unbrella of Ethics because if you do that, you'd have to put the whole entire NCAA system under it, which is one huge ethic flaw in itself..and if you need me to elaborate on that then I suggest you do some of your own research and have it become apparent for yourself.

Grady and Big Joe both came out today and said they are "hearing" ... that Tress will in fact get the gig. And Christenson will be held over as OC..
DC?
I'm buying my Colts SweaterVest this thursday, completely stiched wth J.T.!
As far as DC, I'm not sure who they would bring in at this point. I doubt Zimmer would want to just up in leave Cinnci to come here in the same role.
-
The fact that he lied for his players' wrong doing says something about him..to me....
Lets get a pro coach.
To me that says he's a players coach because he was trying to cover up for some dumb kids mistakes when he had National Championship implications to worry about every season.

Dungy think's Tressel is the guy.. Dungy is really digging this media stuff.
I mean I'll take what Dungy says with a grain of salt since he also said he believed Caldwell's job was safe at the end of the year so we'll see. But I personally like Tressel and really don't see anyone else out there that is more qualified.

It's amazing that they would even want to hire a coach like Jim Tressel who is very immoral with the rules and regulations. It would be like an NFL coach filming another teams signals to their advantage knowing it was illegal and the team keeping him on as headcoach because he wins!!
Yeah a team known as the Patriots with some guy named Bellichek does that..
Seriously some of you people are acting like he stole girl scout cookies or something. The guy turned a blind eye to his players recieving tatoos for memorbilia that they rightfully won. In the NFL, if players are selling memorbilia Tressel wouldn't be liable nor should he be. People act like hes some sort of immoral figure, acting as if they are holier than thou.
-
He will forgive U upon hire..
lol sig check brother
-
When do you all expect Jim to hire new coach? Thursday?
Wednesday-Friday. Somewhere in that window. Great avi by the way!
-
Sig Check. If you wanna be part of the Tressel SweaterVest Club let me know!

Don Shula ring a bell when he was with the Colts in his 30's?
Cool and they were still in Baltimore.
-
But he's not NEW ERA age, at 60
Josh McDaniels ring a bell? Was he good enough for you? didn't think so. New Era doesn't actually constitute being young bro.
Hire Tressel. He's the most qualified and already has about a full year of seeing what was clearly wrong with this team last year.

I never thought it was possible to wake up to a nightmare... But apparently it's possible...
Reports: Colts interview Jim Tressel
Get your Miami bias outta hereee!
-
I would have to agree here with what a lot of INTELLIGENT posters are saying in that Tressel would be the best qualified hire with coaching xp. Granted it was in college but he does know how to lead a team.
-
I mean I like the idea of him being here but nothing in that post atleast shows me the Colts have reached out to him other than his connection to Dungy.
-
Oh boy, Two interviews is all it took for Grigson... we could be hearing a confirmation on who got the job by monday.
I personally hope he does get it... and if it does what does that say about RGIII.... i mean he's had Pryor, troy smith... wow.
Lol I agree except about the RG3 part. I mean I don't wanna stray into a Luck/RG3 discussion but I just don't see how we pass up on Luck. But yeah I think we could be seeing him signed on Monday or Tuesday.
One thing I was thinking about to was is this: Tressel knows the college system and understands the players, if we are rebuilding with a lot of new talent coming in primarily from the college ranks, wouldnt it make sense to get a guy that understands and recruited some of the best players from those ranks?
Jim Irsays Surprise Hire As Head Coach Is....

He deserves better than that man.
All stuff aside, If ZImmer goes to the Bucs which is looking like a possiblity, that leaves Tressel.
