ITunes wiped my entire IPod after moving all the files to a new computer. Freezes ITunes when connected, lags the computer all the way down trying to go into the device from Windows.

Yes it can. That's why I always have all my music on hard drives before installing any music from either you also have to make sure you computer is authorised are it will definitely erase your iPod and it lets you know it will. But it should never erase it from your computer. If you can get to your old computer for files you should have a file named iTunes.
