  1. “Because he knows he will get elite money for average play.” Dear God…. Pro tip: Just because YOU think MPJ is an average player, doesn’t mean Pitt thinks he’s an average player. Far from it. I don’t know how you even connect those dots?
  2. People were asking questions about rumors on this website. I was only talking about this website, nothing more.
  3. Holder did NOT spread false information. I may have been the one to post it and start it. I haven’t read every post, so I don’t know if anyone else posted something similar, but I’ll take the hit. Let’s assume it was me. But it was NOT Holder.
  4. He played and re-injured his ankle in week 15. As best I can tell, this is the injury that led to the ankle surgery. He sat out games in weeks 16, 17, 18. Taylor initially hurt his ankle week 4, and sat out games weeks 5 and 6. JT came back for week 7, then he sat out two weeks weeks 8 and 9 before coming back under Saturday vs Oakland with his best game of the year. Taylor played into week 15 where he got hurt again and sat out the rest of the year.
  5. I think that might be true if it were someone else other than Jonathan Taylor. And your version of events puts 100 percent responsibility on Taylor/agent and zero on the Colts. I rarely buy that kind of viewpoint. It typically takes two for things to go this wrong.
  6. It’s been pointed out that apparently Taylor was NOT pressured. But something has certainly gone very badly between the two sides. Taylor has been a high character guy since dating back to college. He has had a spotless record as a Colt. His teammates are saying he is NOT a problem in the locker room. But the relationship seems badly fractured. Feels like there are pieces of the puzzle missing that would explain things.
  7. No surprise, I don’t agree with a word of this… but let me put your argument another way…. As a WR who might catch 100 passes this year, (approx 6 touches per game) Pittman is willing to risk that he won’t suffer a serious injury. But Taylor knows he might have 20-25 touches a game and is far more likely to suffer a serious injury, perhaps even to a leg. Taylor is far FAR more at risk than Pittman. Better?
  8. You’re right. I misread. It doesn’t. That said, it’s not a stretch to think Taylor is as upset as he is now because he played hurt for the team down the stretch in meaningless games — got hurt twice more — and now the team is using that against him. Seems most everyone here has noted how un-Taylor-like JT has been. The article writes about that. As I said to another poster, if someone (Taylor) with a pristine record both in college and the NFL suddenly has done a 180 and is behaving differently, there might be good reason. Thanks for the correction.
  9. Thanks, you are correct about the scope and the apparent timeline. But the article also notes the team encouraged JT to play down the stretch last year AFTER he had already suffered the high ankle sprain. And the story says he suffered two MORE ankle injuries. And for what? What was the point? Saturday had already told Leonard to take the rest of the year off. Why didn’t the Colts do the same thing with Taylor? Seems Taylor feels like things were done to him that weren’t in his best long-term interest. Feels like he’s lost trust. That’s a bad thing because it’s hard to get back.
  10. Scope? Recover in less than a month? Have you read that someplace, because I haven’t. I don’t think a high ankle sprain gets scoped. All the Colts off-season talk was about JT needing the whole off-season to get healthy again. So something is not adding up here. And I’d say when a guy like JT who’s had a spotless record in college and his 3 years as a Colt is THIS UNHAPPY, he might have good reason and not just a cry baby.
  11. I think the story is either two places. One is on the Stampede Blue Website. The other is in Steven Holder's long article on ESPN today. The problem there is that it’s premium and behind a paywall.
  12. Part of Taylor’s very sour relationship is that the Colts reportedly pushed him to come back late in the 22 season. Taylor did and suffered another ankle injury (it may be two more ankle injuries?). When other players have had similar contract problems, one of the ways teams have used to compromise is this…. The team gives a financial sweetener (Ekler) plus the team agrees to only apply a Tag on the player only once instead of twice. So the Colts would get the best 5 years from JT instead of six and then he’d be unrestricted. I’m just saying this might be an option. Don’t know if the Colts would even be willing to do this? Just thinking out loud.
  13. Stampede Blue reporting a sore foot. Bears close watching….
  14. The Colts currently don’t have Taylor and now Moss. What’s so crowded about our RB room?
  15. We’re roughly 6 weeks before the Colts play games that count. The Colts have plenty of time to acquire a depth OL or two by early September. Odds are, it will happen around cut down date.
  16. That's a very fair argument. As I write in my post, I understand why the Colts are reluctant. I was only trying to respond to the idea that Taylor is just another player. I was trying to offer Taylor’s perspective and show how much he’s at risk. And that this situation happened just before the clock strikes 12, so just as Taylor is about to collect his biggest payday, it gets yanked out of his reach. It’s agonizing. His career is on the line. And I agree with Pat McAfee who today said things need to cool down. Things are way too hot. I’m hoping cooler heads might lead to a compromise. For example, San Diego cooled off Austin Ekler by throwing in a $1.75m sweetener at him. Something that demonstrated some good faith and at least an attempt to find common ground. That’s what I’m hoping for…. Whether the Colts do that, and whether Taylor would even accept that is a great unknown.
  17. Jonathan Taylor is not most players. He’s the best player in the offense. The Colts history is that they reward their best young players by offering the second contract before the start of the last year of their rookie deal. That has stopped. I understand all the reasons the Colts have. I’m just trying to offer more context for JT’s viewpoint. What was Pat McAfee’s quote today? Something like this has gotten way too hot. Cooler heads are needed. 100 percent.
  18. All I was trying to say is that JT isn’t jealous of teammates who play other positions. He’s upset because just as he was about to reach the finish line (the start of his fourth and last year on his rookie deal) the finish line has moved. So instead of getting his new contract NOW, he’s got to wait and put his body and career at risk by playing out his contract and hoping for a better deal next winter. And of course, after risking his body and career this year, next year he might get Tagged and so he might not get the big payday after all. This situation is more complicated than many here are acknowledging.
  19. Taylor is mad because HIS POSITION used to make more. And it was recent.
  20. FWIW: This morning on the NFL Network, it was reported Moss has had surgery, and the timeline is 6 weeks. That would put him back right around the season opener which is 9/10. Wouldn’t be surprising if they held him out for a week or so for precaution. But either way, Moss shouldn’t miss much time.
  21. Scouts having sharp disagreements in their assessment of any given player is a theme I’ve been talking about since I arrived here 12 years ago. As for my comment about the date, that wasn’t just for you, it’s for anyone and everyone. I didn’t want someone to think this was based on the recent off-season and now the camp that has just started.
  22. For what it’s worth…. This story is dated April 24, the night of the draft. It’s not based on anything since. He’s calling AR Trey Lance 2.0. Maybe he’s right, maybe not. Obviously we’re all hoping Ballard and the scouts and Steichen and his staff plus other analysts who see something special are right.
  23. @2006Coltsbestever Allow me to ask you some questions. You read the posts here…. 1. Do you not remember me writing over and over that the most important goal for the 2023 Colts is preparing AR to be the full time starter in 2024? And that it’s more important than winning this year? I got pushback. 2. When posters here started a let’s roll with Minshew this year thread because they think he can win 9 games and the colts could make the playoffs and how great that would be…. I offered that nothing was more important than developing Richardson. I got push back. 3. My big post about the approach that I think Steichen will take is just a guess. Could I be wrong? Absolutely. I even gave full credit to the poster who came up with the original idea. But with less than 1,000 snaps and 13 starts, AR is a unique kid, so I believe he needs a unique approach to how he’s developed. The kid has to play. But I believe he might get 10- 20 snaps week one, and slowly increase each week until he shows he’s ready to start. Does that seem unreasonable? Maybe AR is ahead of schedule. Maybe he’ll look great in the pre-season. Maybe AR gets the week one start. I’m just not expecting that to happen, but it certainly could. Either way, I’ll be rooting for him to succeed. I hope you have a better idea of my position….
  24. Forget he didn’t start. The guy didn’t PLAY. Mahomes played one game his rookie year. He played one game. One. Yet you don’t think it made a difference.
