  1. -Indy then trades Andrew Luck to Washington for their 1st and 2nd round picks.

1st overall pick- QB Andrew Luck

1st round- 6th overall (via trade)- CB Morris Claiborne (We finally have a shutdown type of corner that will make this secondary respectable.)

2nd round- SS Mark Barron (Our secondary continues to improve!)

2nd round (via trade) - NT Brandon Thompson or NT Dontari Poe (We need a NT badly)

3rd round - OLB Sean Spence (Very instinctive backer we need to play alongside Angerer and Conner/Wheeler/Sims)

    4th round- WR Kendall Wright

Rest of draft spent on OL, TE

We retool our defense with the selections made from the Luck trade by adding 4 new potential starters.

    Fixed.

  2. What makes no sense is to not draft the only can't miss draft decision of the past 2 decades.... even Polian can't screw up this pick, he just has to write four letters down on the card come April. :slaphead:

I thought the only can't miss draft decision of the past 2 decades was Ricky Williams? Or was it Robert Gallery? I've seen so many sometimes it's hard to remember them all...

  3. Tebow is probably the best option QB in the league. But still one of the worst passers I've ever seen. I'd probably take him over Painter because our guys don't seem to be getting open anyway. Maybe we could at least get some fluke points with Tebow running the ball.

I disagree that the donkeys are less talented. Von Miller has a decent chance of breaking Kearses rookie sack record and he's been a beast on run downs as well. They're building a semi-decent defense in Denver. While Tebow was busy being inept the first 3 quarters that Denver defense was keeping the game close (and tied the score the first time with a pick six). Same basic story holds true for the Oakland and Miami games.

  4. But if they think the other guys are on the same level they get more value trading the pick.

Luck looked pretty weak against Oregon. Unless he does something special in the next couple of months I'm gonna hold off on buying into the hype unless we actually draft him.

  5. Carter might be a better runner after contact and better when it comes to power running, but he definitely is behind in pass blocking compared to brown and addai. Not for sure if he's going to be the #1 back in the future, but him and brown together are a nice change in pace. Carter and Addai also don't hit the hole as fast as brown as.

I'm glad Brown had a good game, he's clearly our fastest back and he still has a chance to make it in this league. But I don't think any running back on any team is behind Donald Brown in pass blocking at this point. He hasn't been riding the pine because he can't run the ball, he's been a consistent liability in pass protection since he came into the league.

  6. Giving up two first round picks for Carson Palmer

Technically if they give up 2 first rounders for Palmer that means they made it to the AFC championship game. If that happens then it was a great trade. Jus' sayin...

    What's worse than 0-8? You'll know about 4:00 today.

    Burn! +1

  7. I really think far too much is being made out of Manning's recovery and that he likely will not ever play again just because at this point he isn't feeling so much better.

I had that same procedure that Peyton had, only a week earlier. I can tell you what I went through and what I learned. Now, given, I don't claim to be an NFL quarterback, but at least the healing process is about the same. I was told it would take probably 3 months for the bone fusion to even start. Before that time, it is likely I would feel weakness and numbness in my arms and hands until things stabilized, which is what I experience right now. My left arm is weaker than my right, but that is expected from this surgery. Between 3-6 months is the fusion taking and solidifying. And it can take up to a full year for the person to completely recover from this surgery.

On the good side, the disc pain I have had for years is mostly gone. I can turn much better than I could before.

So I really think it is far too premature to speculate whether he will play or not. I was told there was a 80% chance I would be pain free after surgery and be better than ever. But it does take time. My fusion hasn't started yet, but I can feel the relief of the pain I had before. My expectation is by the end of the year, Peyton will be throwing the ball just as he did previously and he will be fine. He neck will actually be stronger, with the fusion, then it was before when the disk could bulge at any point.

None of us can know and can only guess, but I expect next year he will have the best year he has had in 4 years.

Excellent post. Gl with your recovery.

  8. Not saying he's wrong, but in situations like this blame tends to trickle uphill. They've already scapegoated assistant coaches in recent years, now it's time to look at the coordinators and HC. Only if all that doesn't right the ship will the Polians be in danger.

Definitely not a fan of nepotism. I hope the anonymous sources are just doing the sour grapes thing and playing politics with the organization. If not the damage could be hard to undo quickly...

  9. I actually really like Donald Brown as a runner. He's so fast when he can slash into the right hole. It's when he doesn't have the ball that worries me. That man has turned missing a block into an artform, and that probably has more to do with him not seeing the filed then anything.
