It's hard for people who aren't accustomed to our (from a fans perspective) wretched approach to preseason games. It's almost like the staff wants to put players in a relatively poor position with vanilla schemes, unlikely starting lineups and substitutions and see how they respond. It's like they want to evaluate mental toughness and how the players respond to adversity. We have had some pretty resilient teams when it comes to mounting comebacks and dealing with injuries over the last several years...

It looked like Sims started over Conner on the weakside. He seemed to play ok, had a few good cleanup tackles in run support. Tied for the team lead in tackles after being out of practice for two weeks. Wasn't quite as taken with his cover skills, though. Haven't seen anybody mention him yet.

I think we should trade Hughes, a first round draft choice, and the ghost of John Unitas for Matthew Stafford and Ndammispelled Suh.
It's about as likely to happen as Hughes for Lienart so why not just go for it.

You can get him arond your 45 man active roster on game day by having a guy dress as your emgerncy QB. He doesn't count against the 45 on game day but he if comes in your first two QBs can not come back into the game.
They got rid of emergency QB this year and just upped game day roster to 46. Fallout from the Caleb Hanie/ Todd Collins debacle in the bears playoff game last year I think.

Hypothetically he could be a nice addition, especially with the change in the QB depth chart rules. He'd make an interesting run/pass/option guy out of the backfield if he was willing to do so.
-
I'm disappointed that Warren Moon isn't an option. Clearly he has the edge in experience over everyone else listed in the poll.
-
I'd rather name Curtis Painter all-time Colts starting QB for his entire lifetime than sign Russell to be a Colts camp arm, let alone backup QB.
-
I'm beginning to wonder if other QBs can run this offense. When has a backup QB ever looked good since Manning came to town?

o line is the worst we cant move any team in the nfl off the ball. like mr polian these smaller faster lineman dont work sign some maulers and lets get more physical. get away from this finesse shhh
I think Kimbo Slice is available.
-
Sims once he gets healthy. He brings alot of speed and athleticism @ LB that the Colts aren't usually in position to draft.
-
Signing a bunch of retreads isn't going to fix the o-line. If players are taking this long to sign it's probably with good reason.
-
No. He could barely even get on the field for the Titans last year. Let somebody desperate waste the cap space.
-
I think part of it was how violently he played. But football is a violent sport for every player in the league. I think it was a combination of bad luck and his aggressive style.

I'll miss Bob. He was Ronnie Lott for about two seasons.

Maybe you just had to be a fan all the way back to 1984 to understand. I thought there were more fans here that have been fans for the entire journey. I am starting to realize that many of you are Peyton era only fans. If that is the case then many of the responses I am getting makes sense.
Image if we traded away Dwight Freeney after his first contract for a second and a fifth round pick and then multiply that by 20. That's how someone who has been watching this team (every game) for close to 30 years now felt when we traded Faulk. But if you just hopped along on the Peyton wagon then none of this would make much sense because you’re not emotionally attached to it.
 I guess only drama queens can be true fans. I was ticked when they traded Faulk. Somewhere between winning a Super Bowl, going to another, and winning 10 games every season for about the last decade I got over it.

You're right. Polian can never do anything wrong because he has done so many good things.
I guess according to your blind thinking a man could save 10 lives and then turn around and shoot your dog, yet still be a perfect man who you would hold no ill will towards.
Being a fan is an emotional thing. If Marshall going into the hall and not finishing his career with the Colts doesn't bother you then maybe you just don't care.
Faulk had a long successful career. He showed love for the Colts in his speech. How could that bother anyone, let alone a Colts fan?
-
Faulk was one of my favorite players growing up, but he wasn't nearly as appreciated when we had him because he never got the blocking he needed. Fans always blamed him for being too soft and many of the things people now say about Addai. He was also somewhat injury prone. The Rams were an ideal landing spot for him and he flourished there in ways he never did with the Colts.
He might still have been a first ballot HOFer if he stayed, but then again he might have gotten killed running behind our line and never made it in at all. The number of variables that would've changed had he stayed would make it ridiculous to try and predict what his outcome would have been.
Just enjoy the induction of a great player who got his start with the Colts. Don't get worked up about minor technicalities.
Re:Polian bashing, Colts went to 2 Super Bowls and won 1 following the trade, Rams went to 2 Super Bowls and won 1. If you need a tiebreaker, Colts are on the cusp of being the first franchise in history to win 10+ games for 10 straight years.
Hughes And Brown

Hughes hasn't done much, but neither have Chick and (especially)Brayton. Hughes got to Rodgers a couple times against Green Bay but Freeney got there first. He still could be a replacement for Mathis next year. He certainly hasn't blown me away, but neither has anybody else @ DE except Freeney.
