  1. I know many have thought Freeney will be gone after this season but I really doubt he is going to get a huge contract for next year and beyond. He is Older, not tearing it up this year and been hurt last 3 years in some fashion. I could see us keeping him at 4-5 mil/ for say 3 years to let him finish out his career. Cold put in some incentives as well in case he has a full season and plays up to his reputation of his past. Depends on if he feels like he will garner a bigger contract elsewhere and somewhere he feels like he can succeed and win.

  2. I heard they lost their LT due to appendicitis..he just had surgery..that should help the pass rush greatly

Winning games because another team has a starter go out only gives fans false beliefs tha your team is good. I want to win against a team that has its starters playing. No sense in lucking into a playoff spot only to get wiped out against a real team. We r not that good yet and we need to focus on building the team and fundamentally playing better n all phases.

  3. I want a LG/RG from FA. I would then want to trade down from the first and take either best DE,CB or SS from draft. Then hopefully with the trade down we also pick up a 2nd Ed pick and we start collecting defense and a future RT if we don't believe our guy who keeps getting hurt isn't going to be the guy. I do not want to waste cap space on mike Wallace.

  4. Even with that healthy unit we are terrible against the run. We need an asnwer in the middle at NT fast. Im just happy we squeezed out a victory to stay in the playoff hunt.

This team has no business being talked about as a playoff contender this year. If u honestly believe we have that shot, you are being a homer and ignoring the real fact that we are a bad team playing a last place schedule who happens to be at 3-3 with no road wins. If the team wins 7 games this year I will be shocked and we overachieved by 2 wins IMO. I would guess by next year we are competitive and more consistent but realistically coming into a good team by the 3rd year of Lucks's career. Too muc patchwork being done this hear and then we are going to have a lot of replacements to gel with next season. And let's not dismiss the fact that Luck has some real work to get better and compete at the highest levels in the NFL.

  5. Like I said, Im sure a lot of it is supporting cast around Luck, but we seriously need to get that fixed soon if thats the case.

Drafting Luck is the part of a long term goal for the team. Deleting older expensive overpaid stars on this team was part of that plan. Drafting 2 of the better rated TE's in a poor talent TE draft was part of that plan as was obtaining young talent with high ceilings but raw. You can't resolve every issue on this team in 1 season that you had dumped major salary and had. I cap room left. Everyone e wants Luck to come in and win 13 games by himself in his first year with a young team but that is fantasy not reality. I think they have enough talent to start with but they have to rebuild the entire entire team and it starts with a talented QB, which we have. I would expect the team to get the oline fixed next season with draft and mucho dollars to spend in FA. Keep a defense that can just be avg for next year and then year 3 go out and get your defense built up into an aggressive defense. You can't build that plan in one single year, nobody can. Time

  6. I don't mind Mathis out with Hughes being there. But it is still a Blow to the team without Mathis & Redding. But I think we'll be Fine

I think I would love to have Mathis in and I hope Hughes can make the rookie QB uncomfortable but I'm not sold on Hughes. We will miss redding with Richardson running. Hopefully someone on the backup dline will step up

  7. Injury Report- DNP: D.Brown D.Butler R.Mathis F.Moala C.Redding M.Tevaseu. LTD: none FULL: P.Angerer V.Davis D.Freeney W.Justice J.Reitz - @JimIrsay (About 5 hours ago)

Davis, Angerer, Reitz, Freeney & Justice look like a Go

Having this group of guys back is way more important than having backups in the game. We will miss having Mathis but not so much the others. Anxious to see if Rietz is the answer for stablizing the oline.

  8. I put this in another thread but it works here too, here are some of the more recent top QBs taken in their drafts numbers threw their first five games. Andrew Lucks numbers stack up just as well if not better than a good chunk of them. Make no mistake Luck has his issues that he needs to improve on but over all he's playing just fine.

Peyton Manning: 4 TDs 12 INTs, averaging 34 passes a game completing 55% of them for 225 yards per game and one win.

Eli Manning: 3 TDs 7 INTs, averaging 25 passes a game completing 44% of them for 126 yards per game and 0 wins.

Matthew Stafford: 3 TDs 7 INTs, averaging 34 passes a game completing 54% of them for 169 yards per game and one win.

Matt Ryan: 4 TDs 3 INTs, averaging 26 passes a game completing 54% of them for 172 yards per game and three wins.

Cam Newton: 7 TDs 6 INTs, averaging 39 passes a game completing 58% of them for 322 yards per game and one win.

Sam Bradford: 6 TDs 7 INTs, averaging 41 passes a game completing 54% of them for 232 yards per game and two wins.

Andrew Luck: 7 TDs 7 INTs, averaging 44 passes a game completing 53% of them for 298 yards per game and two wins.

Good stats to compare others to luck. Shows that top pick QB's are usually the product of going to a bad team and that is just what we are. I think Manning came to a Colts team who already had a top flight LT, RT and some good interior linemen. He had MH at wr who had yet to break out but the speed and route running was there. He had a very energetic and good not great defense.

Compare this team Luck has to what Manning got and review those stats. Luck has maybe a solid LT and then crap on the rest of the line. None of the other 4 linemen would start on 90% of other NFL teams. He does have 2 young promising TE's and Wayne who has been his blanket and then speedy youth who is behind his learning curve . His defense has a hobbled Freeney and Mathis, one decent CB in powers (who knows about Davis) and Bethea (who has been inconsistent this year). He has maybe a lb or two that could play on other teams as starters but would it be in a 3-4 or 4-3?

The team Luck has is far worse than the one PM had coming in and yet he has put up better numbers so far. The only thing you can do at this point is sit back and watch the season and wait until next year to see how he has grown and add some talent to the team with FA and the draft.

  9. Wayne had that fumble on pretty much the last play that kind of hurt us. But things happen. How many overthrows did Luck have in total? It was just a BAD day all around. Unortunately it had to come against the team I happen to hate the most in the NFL. Living in New York State, I unfortunately have to listen to all the tal today. But these things happen I suppose. We'll get 'em next week I hope! :blueshoe:

I am pretty sure the game was far out of reach by the time Wayne fumbled but nonetheless, he needs to not do stuff like that. Had it occurred early in the game, that would have been a bigger deal. Luck wasn't throwing very accurate Sunday but he threw a bunch of similar balls that Wayne snagged the week before but kinda had a disappointing game this week. It happens to all wr's though, he will rebound ok. It was not Wayne's fault the team lost.

  10. I'm sorry I stopped reading here, on the account of we must have been watching different games. Avery was the worst colts player on the field yesterday, on offense and defense.

You should probably stop typing too cause if you believe that Avery was the worst player on the field yesterday, you did not see zibs, bethea, our dline any of the guards and special teams coverage. Maybe you are just a hater of Avery IDK but he was far from our worst player on the team yesterday.

  11. My only comment to the OPs remarks... I thought Wayne did remarkably well today, given the constant abuse he was receiving from Cromartie. I know he received plenty if penalties, but he was practically inside Wayne's jersey on just about every play. Maybe the refs just got tired of throwing the flag at Cro...?

It may be true that cromartie was on Wayne pretty good but so was his defender last week and he caught everything anyway. This week he dropped a couple catchable balls and then fumbled once so by all rights, Wayne had a bad game.

Maybe he should get the orange gloves back :)

  12. Luck will and should take a lot of the blame for this loss. He has no touch on the ball yet. He is young so I don't blame him for not being perfect. I fully believe he will improve greatly on that for next season.

Avery was good today, Wayne not as much. Too many dropped passes by our wr's still.

Fleener was much improved with his hands today.

Oline was god awful pitiful today but I expect them to be, they are not NFL starting quality. Satele was bad but we could run in the middle last week with Shipley in at center but returned to not being able to with Satele. Again, #74 is the only NFL caliber lineman playing.

DT/NT play was pathetic to watch and apparently our lb's could fill a hole today.

The $19 million dollar waste of time for a older DE is not looking so smart now nor did I feel it was smart to keep him before the season started. Jerry Hughes was present today at least.

Cb's. Hard to judge them, Sanchez didn't have to test them really.

Tackling was extremely poor today by most of the team.

NO help from the running backs but they had no help from a shoddy oline as well.

Playcalling was not anything to garner a response either way. Kinda predictable IMO.

My overtake is it is a team that will get better but it will take another draft and another year of those draft picks to become a team that is consistent and understands the situations they are in. The defense has to find their identity. Be a 3-4 or a 4-3 and get that personel and ditch the whole Freeney hope, he isn't a 3-4 lb and he has age and injuries mounting on him. Luck has to work hard this offseason on his touch and take a few more runs that are open for him.

I went into the season saying it was a young team in traing and expect about 4-6 wins. Anything more than that is bonus but it's tough to see a team play soooo well in the second half only to play sooooo equally bad the next week. Better days on the horizon and painful hopes dashed this season. Ride the wave

  13. While we have had injuries and not everyone has played together, this team is still not a good team yet. You note that we are better than last year, that may be true, but what makes this bad team better is a quality QB in luck as compared to what we had out last season. That oline is not any better than last season, our wr's are almost exclusive rookies as are our TE's and there is a big curve to reach good. The defense might be considered better but learning a new system as well. I'll say it again, this team is better only because we have a qb who can better overcome bad players around him much like that one guy who used to do it every year for the past many. We will improve in quality with a few more drafts and FA acquisitions.

  14. If I had anything really negative about Luck right now, I think he holds the ball a little too long and/or doesn't anticipate yet with enough consistency that a route will run open. I think that is why he has db's all over his wr's. He also locks onto his targets a bit too much. All these things are rookie QB issues and he does it still better than all other rookies IMO. He will be fine, he has earned respect in this leAgue already.
