*cough cough Kurt warner
I just looked up and saw your reference...
Care to elaborate?

Who do you guys believe is the best of all time at WR? My buddy and I have been debating for a while on this. I say Marvin Harrison but he is a total 49er homer and says Jerry Rice. Harrison is imo the most dominant to play. A lot of amazing WRs have played tho
I'm sorry to say it, but you come off sounding like a homer in this argument. Statistically, Jerry wins this debate hands down. Jerry is not only considered the greatest WR to ever play the game, NFL Network had him as their top player AT ANY POSITION to ever play the game. He was #1 in their top 100 of all time. I don't think Marvin even made the list (a HUGE mistake on their part).

I'll give it a try with my top four:
1) PAT conversion %
2) WR ability to catch in the rain
3) Ability to stop opposing FB
4) Touchback % on kickoffs
kidding...
I'm actually interested in all of your list and agree that the O-line is what I have the most questions about, but I want to see how healthy we can stay after our efforts to increase the size of our team.

"Twosday Twofer" -
Only considering the NEW PLAYERS (draft, undrafted FA or FA from another team) on the Colts 2012 roster:
1. Which offensive player - other than Andrew Luck - do you think will turn out to be your favorite ??
2. Which defensive player do you think will turn out to be your favorite ??
1. Samson Satele! Go Hawai'i Warriors!
2. Pat Angerer... Grrr... Erer... er...

Okay, I didn't see anything posted about this article on CBSSports.com. It's a speculative piece about the coming NFL season and has a positive spin on the whole Luck versus RGIII debate.
Oh yeah, item 3 discusses the Broncos outlook with some new quarterback they picked up during the off season as well...just in case you might be interested.

2. Who has more immediate success -- Andrew Luck or RG3?
Andrew Luck is the more ready of the two to step in and take over a pro huddle. He was trained in a pro-style offense at Stanford, and he thrived in it. But he doesn't have the experience around him that Griffin does in Washington. Nor does he have a head coach like Mike Shanahan, who loves to develop young quarterbacks. Still, I say Luck has more immediate success for two reasons: 1) His background in a pro-style offense and 2) the schedule. Five of Washington's first eight opponents are playoff teams, including the defending Super Bowl champions, and three of Griffin's first four starts are on the road. Now compare that to what's ahead for Luck: Three of his first four games are at home and only one of the Colts' first nine opponents made last year's playoffs -- with only two of those nine producing winning records. Then there's this: Luck's favorite receiver at Stanford, tight end Coby Fleener, is one of his targets in Indianapolis. If you're looking for the early edge -- and we are -- Luck has it.
I strongly disagree with this statement. Andrew Luck has Bruce Arians who loves to develop young quarterbacks.

You're kidding right? There clearly are paragraphs. It's just there's no space in between them. It's not one big log jam. You're a big boy, you won't get lost.
So... I make one mistake, and suddenly I lose all credibility. Have a heart.
Don't take it personal. Some people don't know block formatting.
I thought it was a good article. I look forward to the next one!

idk. usc hasnt really had good qbs come out. palmer is average, leinart is a bust, sanchez is trash.
True, but those were all Pete Carroll products. Barkley is a Lane Kiffin product. Kiffin is more of an offensive coach, while Carroll's background is in the defensive secondary.
-
#1 Weeden - He's already older than Colt McCoy, but with LOADS less experience.
#2 - Shea McClellin - I don't see him doing well as a 4-3 DE.
#3 AJ Jenkins - Won't even crack the lineup for a few years.
-
Matt Barkley believed he would have been drafted ahead of RGIII if he came out for this years draft.
My first thought when I read this was:
Matt Barkley must think highly of Andrew Luck. Matt thinks enough of himself to think he's better than RGIII, but he still thinks Luck would have been drafted #1.
I see this as a compliment to Andrew Luck.
Anyone else think so?

Man... first Vitatoe now Gallipo... We aren't going to have ANYONE with a fun name to say left on this team... Sheesh...
Chigbo Anunoby isnt going anywhere, Tim Fugger likely isnt going anywhere or Hayworth Hicks
Fili Moala should keep us covered as well. We also brought in Zbikowski for (maybe) that very reason.

having brady on the list twice is foolish.
But well deserved.
Brady (with Welker and Gronk), Bree (with Colston and Graham), and Rodgers (with anybody on his team) could all have multiple mentions.
Great list, though!

My own personal rule, which is completely arbitrary and irrelevant, is you don't give up anything higher than a 5th for a supplemental pick. That's just based on the success rate of supplemental picks in recent years, and how it matches up with other draft picks and their success rate. If you really, truly think you have a homerun on your hands, going with a 4th might make sense. But that would be an exception to the rule. We don't have a 4th in next year's draft right now, so if there's someone we really like and think can make the roster, we probably don't have the pick to get him.
We traded away our 5th rounder for next year, but I'm pretty sure we still have a 4th.
They were also saying on NFL.com that he pulled a quad during his pro day, so maybe he does slip to us in the fourth. We have the roster space (two under now that Gallipo is gone). Maybe Grigson had his eyes on more than one player.

So, had the Ricky been selected by Indy, would he be the superior RB?
Of course he would have...
He would have been a Colt...

2011: the year of Pat McAfee
-
I would have to go D, B, A, C for commentary during a game; but I would go with C, B, D, A for just getting the news.
It really depends more upon the person.
Examples:
A: I like Howie Long, Shannon Sharpe, and Tom Jackson; but I don't like Teddy Bruschi or Terry Bradshaw
B: I really like Herm Edwards, but I don't think Tony Dungy is cut out for it.
C: I don't really like any of them...
D: I really like Kenny Mayne.
-
Tom Brady carried a team with the 31st ranked defense to the Super Bowl, and would have won it if Welker had caught the ball.
Brady, in my opinion, was the better player. Rodgers was one-and-done in the playoffs.
It's hard to remember that this is actually the top players of 2012. (maybe the title of this thread needs to be changed).
You need to keep that in mind. Maybe the players are expecting a declne in Brady's play, since he is getting up there in age for a QB. Meanwhile, Rodgers seems to be just hitting his prime.
Otherwise, I'd agree that Brady had the better statistical year.
-
I'd have to give Fili Moala advice.
I'd ask him to recruit his cousin to join us.
-
Based on?
There being a lot of offensive line depth and more of a practice squad player.
Sorry Gavin, but I have to agree with them.
McGlynn, Ijalana, Anderson, Olsen, and perhaps Reitz are all guards that would start over Hicks. Hicks could be a practice squad player who develops into an eventual starter, but I doubt he starts as a rookie.

After watching these guys practice at LOS, seeing where they lined players up and my person feelings on who will get the start... this is my best guess as to the final 53 man roster at this point. Who do you think should stay or be cut from the current roster?

Huh? Are you going to talk about the previous coverage the Colts DBs have had against the Texans WRs? Or what you think will happen next time we meet? Or are you trying to say our coverage is so bad that it will appear later?
I think he is planning on writing a detailed breakdown of our coverage vs the Texans (I don't know which week, but I assume the secong game).
-
Hopefully, Justin King can step in and pull a similar turn-around for us!

Were talking a/b AFC,read the topic.Schaub and Flacco are very much overated, but Gabbert, you cant be serious.
It seems you quoted the wrong person.
Hahaha! It seems he misquoted multiple people... No one has Gabbert, Schaub, Flacco, and NFC players... He may be mixing up three or more posts!
And indynorth, I don't think any of them were very serious...

I've always liked Kenny Mayne. I don't know if you count him as a true analyst, but his stories are always entertaining.
