  1. The most humbling thing is needing a job. Im sure he's become accustomed to a certain lifestyle and will be on his best behavior to get his check. Won't be anymore chances after his next.

I forgot about the incident with the woman though. That might be more of an issue. I would want to know more about what happened there.

This isn't the first time he's needed another chance.

Look, I wouldn't be against the front office and coaching staff talking to him, but he'd have to make one heck of an argument on his own behalf to convince me to roll the dice on him.  Like I said, even considering circumstances which, to a normal person, would be humbling and cause them to reevaluate, I just think it's a lot easier to change a 21 year old than a 31 year old.

  2. I think it's safe to say that Harrison is no Satele.  He'll get the rhythm down and do much better at the next game, which I will be attending I might add.

Yeah, that's something that can be learned by just doing a lot of reps and getting more experience.  He kind of got thrown to the wolves the other night, but if they like him as much as they say they do I think the problems he had are solvable.

  3. If he was a young guy who was just immature and I thought he could make some positive changes I'd be in favor of giving him a chance.

Incognito is not a young guy.  This would be his 10th year in the league.  At this point, I think we have to accept that he is what he is, and he's probably not going to change much.  I don't think we can make the comparison to a guy like Rogers.  Signing a guy like Rogers as a FA right out of college is low risk, and his youth made is more feasible to teach him maturity.  Young guys are more malleable, more likely to grow in a positive direction if you guide them that way, and don't hurt the team too much if they fail.  What people are talking about here is signing a guy in his 30s who has ALWAYS had serious problems with immaturity and anger, and then RELYING on him to bolster our team.  As a vet he'd cost a lot more - even the vet minimum would be around what Brazill and Rogers cost COMBINED - and if he fails it would be more damaging to the team.

And while I'm not saying that it's impossible for a guy his age to change, I just wouldn't feel comfortable taking the chance at this point.

  4. I'm as against hazing as anyone, and my fraternity in college made a point of not doing it, but I am for the most part OK with this kind of stuff, because I think the line between hazing and normal initiation stuff is essentially where the enjoyment of the experience derives from (plus whether you can choose to participate).  Stuff like bad haircuts or singing can be a bit awkward & embarrassing at the time, but it's the kind of embarrassing that you can actually say were fun, for you, in hindsight.  Real hazing is something that doesn't seem fun in hindsight, and your enjoyment of the practice or ritual stems from the opportunity to put others through it.

Basically, for the person going through it, the question is: Do you feel humiliated?  Probably hazing.  Do you feel a bit sheepish?  Probably not hazing.

  5. Yes, very stupid on Brazil's part and deserves what he got. The problem I have is that it is a very stupid and outdated rule. It is wrong to have such a rule against smoking mary jane by the NFL. Is there a rule against drinking alcohol? What would fans think about a rule that if you have drank any alcohol in the last month, then you are suspended for four games? What does any of this have anything to do with playing football? Alcohol is way worse than weed and yet it is not even called a drug. No weed, no alcohol.

I agree.  However, if the NFL CBA, as negotiated by the league and the union, included a provision prohibiting the eating of pie, and you eat a pie, it's still your fault, even if it's a dumb rule.

  6. No. You get out of here. Don't tell me what to do. I don't care about what was going through Brazill's head. It is a stupid amount of punishment no matter who it is.

Sure, but I don't really have much sympathy for a grown man who was told not to touch the stove, and told what would happen if he touched the stove, and decided the touch the damn stove anyway.

  7. Probably Thornton.

Side note, people don't realize how good a pick Thornton was.  Last year's draft was really, really shallow.  Check out PFR's 2013 draft page, they have an approximate value number based on a player's production.  Thornton got a 7.  That was the 3rd best in the 3rd round, and of the 170 or so players after him, only 2 graded out as higher than that (David Bakhtiari and Jordan Mills) and only 2 others graded out the same (Andre Ellington and Zac Stacy).

  8. what about our possible ILB duo; Jackson & Jackson?

will they have "D. Jackson" and "A. Jackson" on the back of their jerseys, or is the different number enough?

One guy will have "Jacked" on the back of his jersey, the other will have "Up".

  9. These are some big dudes.  Never heard of any of them so had to look them up.  Saw that the NFL got Ulrick John's name backwards (John Ulrick).  I hope at least one of these guys turns out to be a long term solution for protecting Luck.  GO COLTS!

When Uldrick John blocks him, JJ Watt is going to think his name is Watt JJ.  :goodluck:

  10. Just when i thought it couldn't get any worse it did, Ulrick has injury concerns and he's undersized. Plenty of secondary players left and we take a injury prone RT.

Well, he could add some bulk, sure, but he's not exactly small.  Same height as Castonzo and about 15 pounds lighter.  I think he can add a little weight without too much of a problem.
