  1. That's odd; many professional football players go out of their way to come to New England for the chance to win.

Philly, on the other hand, is a completely different matter...

Just a generalization,i see you know the incident i reffered to.The Welker incident only one i know about in NE,but have seen many in the eastern US in different Markets,Although i know the trouble is not from the majority, its still a blackeye. No offense meant towards the true sports fans of the east, because true fans have class and show it,unlike the thugs that pull these shinanigans,You do these things in most midwestern markets your going to jail, wich is the way it should be.
  2. GoPats,

I will be honest with you. I wanted Eli to win his 2nd SB in LOS, the house that Peyton Manning built in INDY. But, I will acknowledge that I have a ton of respect for WR Wes Welker and it really ticked me off when so many NE fans dropped off all those Butterfinger candybars mocking his drop that could easily have changed the outcome of that game.

You can run the same route a thousand times and make the catch and then the 1 time you fail to make a connection you lose your opportunity to raise the Lombardi trophy. Wes Welker is a great WR; he didn't deserve to be treated like crap IMO. Real knowledgable football fans know this. Disappointment and heartbreak I get. Treating 1 of your best WR's like an insignificant scrub. I have absolutely no tolerance for.

Your right on Brother, unfortionate that fans treat sports figures like that, seems to go with a certain geographic area of the country or general direction,i can think of an incident of throwing batterys at a baseball player among other things, personaly as a pro athlete i would never play for a team in this general direction because of these things. It ludicrous
  3. You know how can i set here and feel sorry for someone whos made that kind of money.Guess what do the crime pay the time and shut up!If you hadnt squandered the money most of us only dream of making, you probably wouldnt be a crying little brat right now,Oh lets not forget who really pays your salary :hmm: Hmmmmmmmmmmm,oh yes its us The fans, dont forget it :hello: Oh yes pardon me for not

  4. No.....he like some of our favs had the injury bug....still liked him at MI and Liked his effort in the Not For Long.

I hope Carter doesnt fall into same category,i know his injury isnt the same but may be as critical for a ball carrier. And i was impressed with Hart, just a shame it didnt work out,i really like backs who can pound the ball

  5. I am glad I read all the way down on this thread. As I sit back and think about how many games the Colts won in the Dungy/Polian Era I would be remiss to say that I will 'not miss' games that are 37-34 and 40-38. I agree that we are not close to the personnel of the 49ers. We are closer to the Texan's change to the 3-4. There were questions whether Mario Williams could move to the 3-4. He got injured (My worry on Freeney) but proved unequivocally he could shine.

I look back at the debacle known as 2011's 2-14 season and see a team that actually played pretty solid defense the last 3 games of the year when 'attacking' under Mike Murphy. I remember a corner that was the definition of 'lousy' and 'abysmal' to most Colt fans getting a pick 6....Jacob Lacey? A 2-1 record against our division....that SHOULD have been 3-0.

An attacking defense creates opportunities and mismatches. Disguise leads to turnovers. Turnovers lead to points. My hopes are 2012 will be the beginning of what in 2 years (and 5 or 6 this year) where we see a 34-7 victory. I loved the great 18's comebacks but my aging heart did not :) This front 7 will be tough and unpredictable....this alone will make the corners and safeties better!! GO Colts!!!

I agree Brother as will not having to give receivers a 10 yard cushion to get a head of steam right off the line :hmm: What were they thinking?Oh excuse me they weren't!!!!!
  6. My perspective is this OL will be much improved do to size and athletic ability, there are some not real experienced ,mixed with some with quite a bit.I agree there will be more attitude, wich there needs to be.I really think some of these FA we brought in will play with a chip on theyre shoulder.I say bring it on!The same goes for the DL,when it comes to stuffing the run,I like what we have and let them learn to mesh in camp i think we all will be pleased, take my word HIDE AND WATCH :foam:

  7. We've been over this so many times now. I have an idea..... You believe what you want, we'll believe what we want, Neither opinion matters... What's done is done. Football season can't get here fast enough..... :grouphug::huthut: :drink: :cheer:

  8. Just to put those #'s in perspective.

While, I personally loved to watch Brett Favre play the game of football and can say that I was a fan of his individually, it is safe to say that he owns these two records based on longevity as much if not more than talent.

Even if Manning does play out his contract 5 years and averages around 4k a year pushing him to close to 75k, and averages 25-27 td's a year, pushing into the 530's and 540's, those #'s will likely be eclipsed by a player that plays his full career under modern and future conditions. If they add the 18 game scheduled it will happen even quicker.

    I gauge QB's in 2 categories

    Playing and Retired.

Dan Marino is the best all time retired QB I've seen play the game.

Peyton Manning is the best all time active QB I've seen play the game.

When Manning retires, he will replace Marino, and there will be a new "Best all time Active QB"

Barry Bonds has the most Home Runs, and Hank Aaron did before him, but I wouldn't dare put either of them in Babe Ruth's category as a hitter.

At the rate that Ruth homered, if he had accumulated the # of at bats that Bonds did and if you drop his production 33%, he would have hit around 790+ home runs. If you give him Aarons at-bats at the same 33% decrease he's in 940 range.

What if Big Mac hadnt retired do to back problems?
  9. While it is true that Peyton has quiet confidence & is very competitive too, I respectfully beg to differ with you Gavin my friend about the dignity, respect, & honor that Peyton carries himself with vs. Brett Favre. Peyton is mindful of NFL tradition & history paying homage to Johnny Unitas via replica footware & shoes on 1 occasion, never challenging the authority of coaches i.e. Jim Caldwell sitting all the veterans down during the Jets game in 2009, & being reluctant to wear a #18 jersey in Denver until the retired player gave him permission. Brett, on the other hand, held the Green Bay franchise hostage in his annual, flip flop retirement circus.

Once Peyton decides to hang it up for good, there will be no surprises, no gimmicks, no "all about me" antics. Yes, both field generals in question did delivery a Championship to their city & consistent Playoff runs no doubt.

I respect you a great deal Gavin & I enjoy reading all your You Tube posts, blogs, & personal commentaries my friend. Keep it UP!!!

Im not gonna get into the Luck,RGIII debate we made our choice and i think they are both very talented, but on that note i think our protection will be fine, when it breaks down Luck has athletic ability to escape IMO.Now on Brett he does everything to get the presses attention, has a need to be in the limelight,Peyton on the other hand has class proves it on and off the field, and is the limelight even if he doesnt want to be its just fate and a real true sign of greatness,he is not a Legend in his own mind.He just strive to be the best he can be,and make everyone around him the same.I agree with you my Brother and the difference here is CLASS!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. My problem with WR Pierre Garcon: He will make an acrobatic, freak of nature, 3rd & long catch for a vital 1st down & then fumble & drop an easy throw & nice pass right on the jersey numbers. I don't get it & it used to drive me nuts. :pullhair:

Your not alone Brother in the driving you nuts, has to be a mental thing, lack of concentration ,something you shouldnt expect in a good wideout :hmm:
  11. Eli is not flashy allthough he has the tools to be just that,What impresses me is he can seem lacadasical at times tho i know hes not,.May not have his best game but he will still beat you.LETS JUST FACE IT HES A WINNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :lombardi: :foam: what more can you say

  12. In my time watching dont recall ever seeing a QB making a living on passes over 41 yards lol.In all honesty its a mute point,Joe Montana sure didnt, hmmm how many SB rings does he have?

  13. If i may let me use an example of a franchise i compare the Colts to in this matter.Dont know if you are all baseball fans,Life long Cardinal fan, they had a player who my wife went to school with named Scott Spiezeo, who helped them win the Series a few years ago,he had a dui when he was playing in Oakland i believe, they gave him the benifit of the doubt that he was sobered up and had received treatment. In the offseason i believe he had a wreck dui related they emmediatly gave him his unconditional release.Point being neither organization wants the image

  14. Agreed Gavin your right, theyre have been some minor things, and i can name more ,there are to many personalitys involved not to happen. Its how they handle it afterwards that defines,i believed everyone deserves a second chance, and have seen the Colts give it,but also with understanding if it happened again it would probably mean walking papers.Really no way to be 100 percent, but when players have problems repeatedly somewhere else they dont and wont bring them here.

  15. I also want to say i admire the class of the colts players, ive not really seen the ME SYNDROME tude from any of them, that could cause dissention on a team such as a player like this.My hat is off to Mr Irsay and this organization for doing theyre homework on character before drafting or bringing in players via FA.:applause:
