How?    I stated smart football people don’t rank draft classes for 3 years.

NFL.com knows this, but they do this now to feed the masses for instant analysis.  They know this is bogus, but they do it anyway simply for the clicks.   So I don’t buy into it.

    How is that contradictory?

You said Ballard had one of his best drafts last year.

How would you know that if you have to wait 3 years ?

    Hmmmmmm....... ????

I've asked this question to several people and have yet to get a "Yes" answer:  Can you sit through an entire MLB (non-playoffs) game on TV?

In a way, the regular season NBA is about the same.  The only thing you have to watch is the last two minutes.

But I don't care what anyone tells me (and my kids played) I will never understand why soccer is popular.

Yes. I watched every pitch of every braves game last season.

I really enjoyed Ronald acuna stealing 70 bases and hitting 40 home runs making history.

People in the south really love the braves because the Falcons aren't much to cheer about

Every year, I become less and less patient waiting for football. Thursday-Monday have zero meaning now. Isn't even spring yet and I'm already wishing football was back.

I'm going to thoroughly enjoy the spring and summer and take a break from football.

I'm going to enjoy the barbecues and the trips to the beach, swimming and the warm weather.

I'm also going to enjoy my beloved Atlanta braves as they try to win another world series. @Yoshinator

    I really enjoy baseball.

There will be times to check in on the NFL like the draft but other than that I'll be in summer mode.

Are sure it showed me the same video? I didn’t see a single slide, and that was some of the worst QB play I’ve ever seen. 😢

Thankfully I’ve already seen him be amazing in the NFL.

Sorry I accidentally posted the wrong video.

This is the video I meant to post

There may not be as much work with AR sliding and getting out of bounds as one might think.

Here's a video of AR against Kentucky where he's sliding and getting out of bounds frequently.

Here's another video of AR avoiding contact vs South Florida

  6. Imho, the answer is yes.  But you are really comparing apples to oranges.

Manning came out in the ERA when the prototypical QB was 240, 6'5 and stood in the pocket and launched the ball downfield with great accuracy.  Rivers, Drew Bledsoe, Joe Flacco, etc were in that same QB mold.

Those QB's above had very little mobility.  Yes there were mobile QB's at that time but they did not have much success.  Accuracy in throwing the ball was a problem.  Probably the most successful mobile QB in that era was Randall Cunningham.

Fast forward to 2016, a new evolution of QB came out.  Slim tall mobile QB's with rocket arms.

Mahommes, Josh Allen, Herbert, Burrow, Lamar Jackson, etc.  These QB's all had the mobility factor and they were accurate.

Mahommes has this extra mobility element in his arsenal in that when the play is not there he can take off for a 20 yard run.  Neither Manning or Rivers ever had that.

So I would say Manning was a great QB for his era and Mahommes is a better QB for his era.  But the comparison is difficult because they are so different.

Everyone is salivating over possibly Bowers going to the Colts.  This reminds me of when Kyle Pitts and TJ Hockenson were drafted.  Both sure fire can’t miss players who were drafted top 10 in their draft class.  So far nothing much to shout home about.  Still possible they take off but for top 10 draft status a disappointment I would say.  The Bills drafted Kincaid at 25.  That’s a great return for them for a TE at 25.  Goes to show you how much risk is at stake with the draft.  No need to look further than Malik Hooker at 15.  Mocks are fun for a lot of fans.  But not really realistic until after FA.  Then we should be able to see if any major needs were addressed.

I don't think Kyle Pitts is a fair comparison.

Pitts has struggled at times because Falcons QB play was so bad.

In Pitts career, Falcons had Matt Ryan for QB in 2021 and Pitts had over a 1000 yards receiving.

It went all down hill after that in that Falcons had Marcus Mariotta, Taylor Heinike and Desmond Ridder.

So Pitts has not benefitted from good QB play for most of his career.

I think people saying they aren’t going to run AR are kidding themselves.  The ability to run is what makes AR special and part of why they drafted him.  They aren’t going to take that away.  They might work with him on getting down or going out of bounds to avoid hits when he can but they aren’t going to take away his ability to run.

There may not be as much work with AR sliding and getting out of bounds as one might think.

The wikersham report has been shared multiple times in this very thread.   Read it.

I respectfully will ask the same question again because i always respect my elders.

    Please stop dodging the question.

What did the the Colts know about Luck retirement and when did they know it ? Especially after ther the shefter report ?

Mr Link can you provide a useful link ?

I'm not at all.   Just helping you with facts.

Let's get back to the point of the current discussion.

You have said that the Colts knew before Luck was going retire that he was going to retire. You said the Colts knew about it before the shefter report.

So what did the Colts know about Lucks retirement and when did they know it ?

Can you provide a link ? Or did you hear a rumor ?

    What exactly?

He went thru warm ups and was throwing in front of fans that very day… even said he was planning to play week one just days before.  He played everyone.

    That's strange.

Why there are posters in this very thread that claim the Colts knew way before hand even before schefter leaked the story.

The claim is the Colts knew early on but the fans did not.

    Weird

Going over to my friend Brent's house. He has having over around 5 or 6 people. He is going to order and pickup 100 Wings from BW3's. 50 Hot Barbecue, 50 Regular Mild. He also has a ton of summer sausage with cheese and crackers for more finger goodies. He will have a nice big plate of that ready. He will have the normal stuff as well like a couple bags of Cheese Doritos and a couple of bags of Ruffles with Onion Dip. It is BYOB, I am taking over a 6-pack of my 9% Voo Doo IPA strong beer and a pint of Crown so I can do 2 or 3 shots.

Regarding the Halftime Show, I rarely watch and probably won't this time either. That will be my time to go outside and get fresh air. Probably do a shot too Celebrating Episode 18 GIF by The Simpsons- PARTY!

Wow !! I'd like to go to Brent's house too. He had to drop at least a 100 for 100 wings.

Sounds like he has quite a spread !

  13. I'll be at home with the wife making air fryer wings.

I have found getting take out wings is really expensive and the wings are small.

I bought some large wings at the grocery store and going to try some Facebook wing recipes.

Rooting for the 49ers, can't stand the chiefs.

I'm concerned the game is going to be a blowout as I think Purdy is going to melt under pressure.

What is the over and under on how many times the camera shows Taylor? 50 ?

  14. Here is Cynthia Frelunds mock.

She has bowers falling to 15

"Bowers is one of the new-mold tight ends, which means he forecasts to be especially potent in a more modern offense. Enter Shane Steichen, Anthony Richardson and the Colts' scheme. Between blocking, aligning in the slot and out wide, making catches in the vaunted middle-third of the field and generally bullying defenders, Bowers is the kind of versatile piece that could make an immediate impact on the Colts' offense -- similar to what we saw from rookie tight ends in Detroit and Buffalo last year."

i disagree with the bolded because I think the Colts feel they are playoff ready.  If AR misses a few games, I hope the Colts are not willing to lets those games be losses with a rookie QB.

So we know what minshews ceiling is.

We missed the playoffs with minshew by losing a few key games.

Why not take a chance and try to find our Brock Purdy?

And if AR gets injured again what if our 4th/5th round rookie comes in and plays so well he wins the starting job like Purdy ?

The Colts would have found their franchise QB, just in a way no one ever expected.

Let's try to do something different

You forget Jimmy G was the vet for those 2 young guys.    A rookie can't help AR develope..   He can't answer questions that AR might have.   I think a vet as the backup is the way the team will go.

    Surely you can't be serious.

Are you saying Jimmy G who dated pornstars was giving young rookies advice ?

I don't think so. Jimmy G was all about Jimmy G and no one else.

Lance and Purdy were pretty much on their own.

Lance washed out of the league by being constantly injured, sound familiar?

It was Shanahan and the QB coach that worked with Purdy not Jimmy G.

Jimmy G spent all his time at the bunny ranch, not working with young QBs.

Come on you're better than this

I just don’t want to waste four years waiting for him to develop and then end up drafting another quarterback later.  I hope he can put everyone’s mind at ease this upcoming season but I don’t understand why some already have so much faith he’s going to pan out.

I think your concern is justified.

I would do what the 49ers did.  Go get the Colts a Brock Purdy.  Draft another QB in the 4th or 5 and sit him behind AR.

    Let Minshew go.

Then if AR fails or gets injured, let the new QB come in and win the job.

I would not put ALL of my eggs in the AR basket, just most of them.

Follow the 49ers Trey Lance/Brock Purdy model.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. He is an emotional player that wants to win. He hates to lose. Fans seem to prefer players who are docile, quiet and don't show emotion.

As others have said, I too believe that the Colts should not trade for Diggs but not because of the "diva" reasons given. I always seem to agree with @stitches and I do once again. If the Colts are going to trade a #1 pick for a WR, it should be for a young WR like JJ, Waddle, Lamb and the like. What about a 2nd round pick for Garrett Wilson? I like Wilson a lot.

Diggs would work better on a more veteran team that is winning like the CChiefs

I agree.  I like Diggs.  I dont think he's right for the Colts though.  He's getting a bit long in the tooth.

He wants to win badly and calls out the team mates for their lackadaisical effort.

The Bills loss to the Bengals last playoffs was a great example.  The bills didn't even show up for that game.
