But when you write about lying and deceiving,  it stuns me because it makes me say you learned nothing about Luck all the years he was here before things went bad at the end.   Luck is simply not wired to lie and deceive.  To be sure, he’s a massive withholder of the highest order and his need for privacy and control borders on the paranoid.   And I’ve blasted him for years for mishandling the end of his career.   But I’ve never thought of him as a liar or trying to deceive.  I’m not saying he’s never lied in his life, as you say,  we all do, humans are flawed.

But you see him playing catch in that last pre-season game and you think he was lying and deceiving the fans.  I think all Luck saw was a chance to play catch with his best friends one last time.  That’s all.  I don’t think it ever occurred to Luck that he was sending out the wrong or misleading message to fans.   Just a friendly game of catch.  For a guy as smart as Luck is, sometimes he’s a big dork.

I sincerely meant every complimentary thing I wrote about you.   Yours is an important voice here in our community.  I just think your anger (or whatever adjective you prefer) with Luck clouds your better judgement.   I wish it wasn’t so.

    Say what ?

How would you know that ? Luck is simply not wired to lie and deceive ? Do you personally know Luck ?

For someone who often chastises other posters about making unfounded comments, this seems very close to that.

august 5th: “Luck said he aggravated his calf during the offseason, through he didn't specify when he initially injured it and or when he suffered the aggravation.

August 21st: Luck gives interview to NBC sports Peter King stating that his goal is to still pay week 1.

August 23rd: Luck again goes through full warmups in front of home fans before preseason game. Later during the game, it is leaked he’s retiring.

Luck deceived the world, fans etc. that was done deliberately and with full intent. No one wants to address it because video and audio from all the interviews show the serious flaws in how Luck handled the whole situation. His warm ups weren’t to play with his teammates it was done intentionally to keep the news of his pending retirement quiet.

This is a CSI like breakdown.

I think either Arnold or Bowers could be available at 15. Just a hunch. Too many QB needy teams in the top 15 plus there are very good WRs and OTs at the top of the draft. We always seem to see a pass rusher or two drafted high each year as well.

I was reading where the Chargers are picking 5th and interested in Bowers.

But if the pass and go WR, Bowers could easily fall to 15

Let’s play devil’s advocate on Brock bowers for a moment.

with the lions 34th pick of the 2023 draft, they pick Sam Laporta, tight end out of Iowa. Here is a draft analysis of Sam.

LaPorta doesn’t have an elite-size profile, but he does have elite-testing athleticism. One of LaPorta’s key strengths as a tight end is his catching instincts. Overall, LaPorta is a bend-don’t-break blocker who occasionally loses control with his lacking strength, but he consistently fulfills his assignments and brings solid effort. He’s also versatile with his alignments. He can function as a lead blocker, and with his athleticism, he can also block on the move and work in space.

    now Bowers-

Brock Bowers is a rare, explosive play threat from the tight end position. Anytime he touches the ball, he could go for a house call.

Bowers has exceptional burst and speed. He tears away from most defenders once he gets the angle on them, and he rarely gets caught from behind.

potential, but he's feisty. Bowers works his tail off in the run game. Bigger, stronger ends can still overwhelm him, but he makes them work for it. Bowers is far more useful as an on-the-move blocker out in space or at the second level.

Bowers isn't exactly built like a traditional Y tight end, but that's OK. Everything he offers athletically more than makes up for lack of ideal size. Bowers is a truly special player with the ball in his hands who can instantly transform any passing game.

Sam LaPorta had one of the best rookie years ever. Similar sized and not known for his blocking, he proved that effort and willingness to improve goes a long way. I would take a Sam LaPorta in a heartbeat, and so would most teams… It’s why I don’t see any way Bowers falls to 15. He will bring effort at blocking, and he will be a game changer in the passing game right away. If he falls to us, we would be silly not to take him, imo.

This man needs to be in Colts blue !!

Bowers vs Auburn.  The whole video is great but check out the play at 1:50 and 2:24.  Look how he bails his QB out.

After hearing Ballard talk about how hard it is to find a TE who can block I really wonder if he would take Bowers at 15.  I just read that’s the worst part about his game.  All of our receivers can block.  Cox is currently our only TE you can count on in that department.  You would think a player drafted as high as 15 would be excellent in all aspects of their position.  In such a deep draft you would think a more complete player at their position would be available at 15.  DT, WR, ER, CB ?  I would be tempted to go there first.

Where did you hear bowers can't block ?

I watched every game he played in for the past two years and blocked fine.

He's a weapon in the passing game.

    Think Travis kelsey.

He'd be a wonderful security blanket for AR

Sometimes I think some probably do think I brag if I get a prediction right and boast about it lol, but the difference between me and most people are, I am not afraid to predict/put my thoughts where my mouth is. I trust my football knowledge because I have seen it all since 1977 when I 1st started watching. So, If I get something right, I am just happy about it.

I have been wrong some as well. I crapped the bed with my 2022 prediction of how the Colts would do. I will at least admit when I am wrong too. I was wrong there. I am usually right more than I am wrong though, proof of that was when I created the 18 Weekly Picking Games Thread. Picking 272 games before every game was played and 10 people participated and I finished tied for 1st with @Moeby going 173-99, that is a winning % of 63.6. I also picked the Chiefs to beat the 49ers before the game last Sunday.

Every prediction I make has been posted in here, so everyone knows I am not a liar which makes it more satisfying.

In here, my before season pick for the Colts since 2018 has been:

2018 = 10-6 (make the Playoffs). I nailed it. I knew with Luck back, he was good for 10 wins.

    2019 = 8-8 (no Playoffs). We went 7-9. I missed by 1 game.

2020 = 11-5 (make the Playoffs). I nailed it. I bet on Rivers being good and was right!

2021 = 10-7 (make the Playoffs). We went 9-8 and missed the Playoffs. Still, I wasn't too far off. I missed by 1 game.

2022 = 11-6 (make the Playoffs and win the Division). That was my 1 GOOFHomer Simpson Laughing GIF by FOX TV. We went 4-12-1. I have never been more fooled in my life, crap happens though. I thought Matt Ryan would be similar to Rivers and we would have 2021 Taylor. That whole season was a cluster suck!

2023 = 8-8-1 (No Playoffs). We went 9-8 and missed the Playoffs. I missed my prediction by a half game.

I have never picked us to win the Conference or SB over the last 6 seasons (2018-2023) because I know we have never had the teams to do so.

@NewColtsFanI apologize for going way off topic but I was responding to Palmbeacher. I did read the article you posted. Thanks for everything you do in here.

Your predictions have been very close.

Keep doing it as I enjoy reading them.  Its always fun to compare at the end of the season.

Also its nice because you have made money by betting.

BTW, what was your prediction for 2024 ?

How?    I stated smart football people don’t rank draft classes for 3 years.

NFL.com knows this, but they do this now to feed the masses for instant analysis.  They know this is bogus, but they do it anyway simply for the clicks.   So I don’t buy into it.

    How is that contradictory?

You said Ballard had one of his best drafts last year.

How would you know that if you have to wait 3 years ?

    Hmmmmmm....... ????

I've asked this question to several people and have yet to get a "Yes" answer:  Can you sit through an entire MLB (non-playoffs) game on TV?

In a way, the regular season NBA is about the same.  The only thing you have to watch is the last two minutes.

But I don't care what anyone tells me (and my kids played) I will never understand why soccer is popular.

Yes. I watched every pitch of every braves game last season.

I really enjoyed Ronald acuna stealing 70 bases and hitting 40 home runs making history.

People in the south really love the braves because the Falcons aren't much to cheer about

Every year, I become less and less patient waiting for football. Thursday-Monday have zero meaning now. Isn't even spring yet and I'm already wishing football was back.

I'm going to thoroughly enjoy the spring and summer and take a break from football.

I'm going to enjoy the barbecues and the trips to the beach, swimming and the warm weather.

I'm also going to enjoy my beloved Atlanta braves as they try to win another world series. @Yoshinator

    I really enjoy baseball.

There will be times to check in on the NFL like the draft but other than that I'll be in summer mode.

Are sure it showed me the same video? I didn’t see a single slide, and that was some of the worst QB play I’ve ever seen. 😢

Thankfully I’ve already seen him be amazing in the NFL.

Sorry I accidentally posted the wrong video.

This is the video I meant to post

There may not be as much work with AR sliding and getting out of bounds as one might think.

Here's another video of AR avoiding contact vs South Florida

  12. Imho, the answer is yes.  But you are really comparing apples to oranges.

Manning came out in the ERA when the prototypical QB was 240, 6'5 and stood in the pocket and launched the ball downfield with great accuracy.  Rivers, Drew Bledsoe, Joe Flacco, etc were in that same QB mold.

Those QB's above had very little mobility.  Yes there were mobile QB's at that time but they did not have much success.  Accuracy in throwing the ball was a problem.  Probably the most successful mobile QB in that era was Randall Cunningham.

Fast forward to 2016, a new evolution of QB came out.  Slim tall mobile QB's with rocket arms.

Mahommes, Josh Allen, Herbert, Burrow, Lamar Jackson, etc.  These QB's all had the mobility factor and they were accurate.

Mahommes has this extra mobility element in his arsenal in that when the play is not there he can take off for a 20 yard run.  Neither Manning or Rivers ever had that.

So I would say Manning was a great QB for his era and Mahommes is a better QB for his era.  But the comparison is difficult because they are so different.

Everyone is salivating over possibly Bowers going to the Colts.  This reminds me of when Kyle Pitts and TJ Hockenson were drafted.  Both sure fire can’t miss players who were drafted top 10 in their draft class.  So far nothing much to shout home about.  Still possible they take off but for top 10 draft status a disappointment I would say.  The Bills drafted Kincaid at 25.  That’s a great return for them for a TE at 25.  Goes to show you how much risk is at stake with the draft.  No need to look further than Malik Hooker at 15.  Mocks are fun for a lot of fans.  But not really realistic until after FA.  Then we should be able to see if any major needs were addressed.

I don't think Kyle Pitts is a fair comparison.

Pitts has struggled at times because Falcons QB play was so bad.

In Pitts career, Falcons had Matt Ryan for QB in 2021 and Pitts had over a 1000 yards receiving.

It went all down hill after that in that Falcons had Marcus Mariotta, Taylor Heinike and Desmond Ridder.

So Pitts has not benefitted from good QB play for most of his career.

I think people saying they aren’t going to run AR are kidding themselves.  The ability to run is what makes AR special and part of why they drafted him.  They aren’t going to take that away.  They might work with him on getting down or going out of bounds to avoid hits when he can but they aren’t going to take away his ability to run.

There may not be as much work with AR sliding and getting out of bounds as one might think.
