But, that doesn't change the fact that Ballard didn't get so impressed with Stroud in their evaluations and didn't want to move up from #4 to #1 (which is a relatively comfortable jump rather than from #9).

You want your GM to be able to spot a great QB with all their off-season time,  material, resources the franchises have in hand.

We can say Ballard was impressed with AR much, and he stayed put but AR will have to do well and stay healthy.

Ïf AR isn't the franchise QB he seems to be developing into in limited time this year, and Ballard needs to find QB in draft again, he may probably bypass another Stroud in front of his eyes for the fear of moving up and losing draft capital for unsure reward.

That's how GMs are evaluated. You've all the information, tape at your disposal, you can bring the QB in your practice facility to evaluate up close. And, if you still don't like the QB or missed out for the fear of trading up in draft, it's a Miss for the GM's books.

Ballard can redeem himself only if AR holds down the franchise QB spot for Colts and wins some playoff game.

Ballard couldn't recognize a franchise QB if one came up up and slapped him in the face !!

    Philadelphia happened.

A growing segment of that fanbase want him gone. They think he mishandled AJ Brown. They think Steichen was the mastermind behind the offense. The Eagles have faced the ol rumored SB loser syndrome where the next season they're just a shell of themselves.

Alot of fans complained about the mastermind on the 4th and 1 call

I agree.  They are ruining it in many ways for me.   I would love to watch the Miami/KC game but there is no way it will force me to subscribe to a pay service.  A chance of a immediate classic game thrown out the window.

I'm going to watch the game on dofu

Who I think will win (as opposed to who I HOPE will win):

    Houston Texans

    Kansas City Chiefs

    Buffalo Bills

    Dallas Cowboys

    Los Angeles Rams

    Tampa Bay Buccaneers

    These are good picks.

I think the eagles beat the bucs.

I'm also rooting for Stroud. Looking forward to see him play.

  5. I for one enjoyed the interview.  It was a chance for an out of town fan like myself to get to know AR.

He came across as a very hungry, hard working young man that is easy to like.

I'm sensitive to the idea that it would have been better to have a different back in the game. It's not an idea that should be totally dismissed.

I just want to point out four things. 1) Taylor was hurt, clearly. 2) Moss had just come back from an injury. 3) The team has practiced that play with Goodson all year. 4) Any QB pass play had to go through Minshew, whether he was struggling or not.

As it stands, we asked our QB who started 14 games to make a simple throw to a RB who knows how to catch the ball. There's nothing reckless about this.

I made the Taylor was hurt in the gameday thread.

@NFLfan pointed out to me that Taylor was in the play before.

Also in the 4th quarter the Texans were completely stuffing the run, so a pass play was not a bad call.

Are you completely ignoring Pittman interview just 24 hours ago and his own postings in twitter?

When did he post in twitter that he wanted to wait until after the season ?

Good GM's sign good players before they hit FA.  Its cheaper that way.

Pittman said he told the Colts he didn’t want to have contract talks until after the season but yeah sure blame Ballard.

Thats not what happened.  At first Ballard said there would be no extension for either JT OR Pitt.

    Then JT started his holdout.

Ballard caved and gave JT his extension completely ignoring Pitt.

Pitt said "fine" (after being insulted).  Sure Pitt said, lets talk then at the end of the season where my per season value will go up by 40%.

Early on of course Pitt wanted to be extended.

Are you saying if the Colts offered Pitt a lucrative multi year extension early last season he would have refused to listen ?

In addition to the 13 games he started, Minshew finished a few of the first 4 games in relief of AR.

I think the only way the Colts don't resign him would be if another team showed interest in him as their starter but I doubt that will be the case. If he's going to be a backup, Indy is as good as anywhere else for him, probably better than most considering his familiarity with Shane & his system.

    I agree with this.

    Re-sign him as a backup.

He made 3.5M last season with an additional 2M in playing time incentives which I'm sure he hit.

I don't think any other team would offer him a contract like that.

This is the first I heard of this and I am a Vikings fan. I also have subscriptions to the Athletic and other sites. I never heard this. No way should we give 5 picks and Hunter for one player, regardless of who the player is.

Btw, the guy who wrote that spelled Hunter's name wrong; so, I am even less inclined to believe this. His name is Danielle Hunter, not Daniel.

    @VikingsFanInChennai  have you heard/read that?

    Sounds like a bogus story.

Why would anyone trade 5 first round picks and hunter for a guy who had a very mediocre college resume ?

AR is was all measurables at the time of the draft, nothing more.

  11. Moss is not known as a pass catching back. He is no threat to catch the ball.

With moss in the game on 4th and 1 it would be guaranteed to be a run.

The Texans would have read run on 4th and 1 as well and would have stuffed it.

So Shane called called a simple swing pass for the 1st down.

It was the right play call but bad execution

    This is getting ridiculous.

Does anyone think they ran a play yesterday that they didn’t run over and over in practice?

The deep shot to Cox was done to creat a mismatch.  It worked.  He was open.

I guarantee final play was run with that personnel group because he was the best RB receiver.  Easy pass, again Minshew threw a bad ball.

But it is good to know so many here are better play callers than our head coach.  You never know when Shane is going to come to the forum for his next game plan!

    Carry on.

Taylor was injured. Moss has never been known as a receiving back.

Shane went with who was available and that was the 3rd string back
