Other than Sneed, who would be the best guy to bring in for veteran leadership?Ā
Ā
I'm thinking about someone on a one or two year contract to start and mentor the younger guys.Ā Then draft another CB in the middle rounds.Ā
Ā
Maybe Nelson or even Gilmore?
Ā
Basically the same need at Safety if we don't bring Blackmon back.
i have had a similar thought. Could the Colts use that remaining cap to bring in a vet CB AND FS that could help stabilize the secondary and would be good in their system?

If we lock it, then this one will become what the other one has become. I featured (put a star next to) this one so that if anyone wants this one, it is easier to spot.
Yes, please leave the arguments over there. Thanks for starting this one for those of us just looking for news and updates.

Which other vet CBs are still on the market? Anyone worth bringing in?

How about safeties? This is probably the area I feel needs the most attention.Ā
Wonder if Gilly would come back?

I'm conflicted when it comes to Sneed. If he really wants $22million/year, would the Colts be better off bringing in a decent vet corner for $10-$12 million/year and a vet FS around the same number? I keep hearing that the Colts defensive scheme doesn't require amazing corner play, but it would be nice to have a stopper in this secondary.

With Zaire mentioning both Sneed and Diggs makes me think he knows weāre interested in both players. Ā Players talk to each other and have friendships so itās possible he knows. Ā Sneed is public knowledge but not Diggs. Ā Heās lobbying for both I think.

Interesting
Makes sense. A new deal for Snead would take up much of the remaining cap space for the Colts. Tough to go after much else until they know if they can get him.

I donāt think Iāve seen any contracts today that I wish the Colts had made. Ā Iād be stewing that we overpaid on pretty much all the deals other teams have made.
100% this^^^^^^.

@richard palloI read the first part of your post and got my hopes up, only to be crushed again. š„

If they let Grover walk they better have a sure fire plan because this dline was a wet napkin when he was out for his suspension.
If they do let Grover walk I'm thinking they draft T'Vondre Sweat out of Texas. He would be a good replacement.

McKinney signed with Philly I think.

I prefer to experience neither dilution or delusion, but I have no idea what you are talking about.

You may be right. Jets fans say that the biggest needs are on OL. I did not realize Mekhi Becton was a free agent. He is only 24. The Jets have Alijah Vera-Tucker and Joe Tippmann, both of whom were well-regarded.
They have a 5th year option on Becton, but their cap situation is not good. I don't think they can afford to pick it up. They need guards, another tackle, and some kind of receiving weapon to take some heat off Wilson. Haven't looked at the defense yet, but they were pretty good on that side of the ball. Makes me realize how much better the situation is for the Colts.

They will need a QB at some point.
No question, but their o-line is a train wreck. Other than center, they seem to need help everywhere.

I'm willing to give it a go. Will depend on timing if I'm available, but sounds fun. I will take any team.

Would love to see the Colts pick up an experienced FS and/or corner

I think Roman Wilson is one of the most interesting prospects in this draft, because Iāve seen him projected as a 1st round pick but Iāve also seen him projected as a 3rd round pick. It seems there is a wide range of opinions on him. I really havenāt dug into him, so donāt know much.ĀDonāt know if it is true, but a UM FB account quoted him saying at the combine āno block, no rockā. I already liked this kid, but if he truly said that he just became one of my faves in this draft.

Ballard talked about blocking TEs being the most difficult to findā¦
Ā
Tip Reiman MOVED that sled.Ā
Looks like Brevyn Spann-Ford could be available late. One scout described him as āa sixth offensive linemanā. Could be worth a 6 or 7 to fill that gap on the roster.

Something else to think about on the d-line; Buckner is entering the last year of his contract. Might make sense to bring in a good young 3-tech and have them learn behind Defo for a year.
