Harbaugh and the Chargers will challenge the Chiefs for the West...year 1

with the chaegwrs past Common sense would say the chargers need to show me first BUT I don't disagree with you. And with Payton now there for his second season and highly likely a new QB, the Broncos could challenge as well. And if rumors are true that Andy Reid may retire after this season then that makes it more likely Harbaugh will have success. He hasn't failed anywhere before and with a Top 5 QB the chargers will possibly finally give their fans what they want.

Oh I mentioned them. Had to because they are the last team to Repeat, actually it was a 3-Peat from 1998-2000. I will always mention that team when discussing past Champions.

They were good.. And 4 out of 5 and just missed a 5 peat..

I think we may finish 3rd in division and make a wild card this year.

What's your over/under for total wins by Dodgers and Braves?

I didn't do homework on braves but off my head I'm saying  conservatively maybe over 212.

I do ok  but don't win every bet since roger Goodell doesn't consult me  with the script.

And the HC's of the brownies & dolphins never said ahead of time that their owners were paying them to tank. And neither did super bowl MVP Dwight Smith say that they were going to know the offensive plays from the raiders in advance!  haha

I think most comments seem to be debating over which playmaker should be picked over others.  Seems to be rearranging the furniture, IMO.  I would wager than at least 90% of the forum members would be happy with a new...better...playmaker at any of these positions:

    S

    CB

    LB

    EDGE

DT (if you think Buck is getting older, a replacement on a rookie deal looks pretty good)

    WR

    TE

There seem to be no need for a QB, LT, or RB at pick 15....and god forbid we pick another Oline position there.

That covers pretty much any one of the 11 positions of defense could use a player at 15.  And 2 of the 5 playmaking positions on offense.

Golly, that's a lot of options.  Too many for my usual pre-draft look at needs and players to not require a lot of time.  We got so many options/needs for any kind of playmaker, it makes my head spin.  I'll just have to sit this draft out for the most part and watch which position gets the need filled.

What you said  ^^^ but there's always the chance of Ballard trading back and getting 2 less impactfull players to add to the roster.

  6. I think the Orioles will be tough to dethrone in the ALEast.

Good young roster with more coming soon from farm AND new ownership that is expected to spend. In like 24 hours from taking over they immediately made a impact trade for Cy Young award winner Burnes.

I think they may also get Snell or trade for Cease.

My mom's hometown was Baltimore and so was the Colts. So some of my family were big oriole fans in the day....

I'm really looking forward to what should be a interesting season, especially now that Florida has added Sports Betting.

    Betting baseball is my expertise.

    2015 Royals

    2016 Cubs

    2017 Astros* proven cheaters

    2018 Red Sox

    2019 Nationals

2020 Dodgers* 60 game Covid season.

    2021 Braves

    2022 Astros

    2023 Rangers

Will the Rangers repeat? There has been no repeat Champion since the 2000 Yankees did it. They won 3 in a row from 1998-2000 for the 3-peat.

Its Disappointing you didn't go back far enough for the Yankees to be on the list.  :funny:

But you did say they were the last to repeat. :goodluck:

Wow….  You really believe that nonsense?

It’s called exceeding expectations,  that’s what the Colts did.   And some teams fell short of expectations.   That happens every year in sports too, not just the NFL, but all sports.   I don’t know why you don’t know this, but you don’t.

Did you not notice that Chris Ballard made ZERO major moves to try and help the Colts this year.  He signed none of the name free agents during the season that this community called for.   Zero.

So,  I have these pesky things known as facts.  While you continue to use your opinion.

But what you think you know is astounding.  You actually wrote that I have known you’ve been right all along for years.  Your words.  And you actually believe that.   I’ll simply be diplomatic and say the exact opposite is true.   180 degrees opposite,  that’s how far away you and I are on most issues.   You and I might agree on a small number of issues from time to time.  But they are the exception and not the rule.   Sorry.

I’ll give you credit for this one thing….   With most people if you call them a conspiracy theory guy they get defensive and deny it.   Not you.  You freely admit it.  You lean into it.   You warmly embrace it.  Good luck with that.

Its sad if you truly think that way.

And its interesting that you only try and call me out but ignore the masses that give similar opinions and the number is steadily growing and getting louder, but of course you won't address them......only me who continues to be right while you are not. You said the colts were tanking for draft picks while I said the colts and Texans would both contend for division and instead of acknowledging that fact(putting aside the others I've been right on for years) you explained it as  "exceeding expectations"......yeah maybe your expectations but not mine because I called it in June. :funny:

Just like I, and orhers criticised Reich years ago while you defended him and added to your record number of 'sad emojis' in the process. And then your boy became the first HC to be embarrassing fired in season back-to-back!!!

And remember you used to highly support Griggs until the vast majority turned against him and then he was fired. You have a track record of defending all colt employees and most in media and the talking heads while some of us critique those who we think warrant critiquing.

Listen friend, I've  been a colt fan longer than you and seen more than you and see more and differently than you, like the growing population does too.

Its up to you If you want to try and learn what so many more now say OR you don't have to and keep your way of thinking, I don't care either way what you or what anyone else thinks.

I'm just glad that so many now see the light. And I'm glad now that sports betting is now legal and can  kiss Vegas and off shore accounts good bye.

And I don't want or like us getting into these disagreeing discussions. We may see things differently but were both colt fans for better or worse (usually worse but we now have AR5 and hopefully the football gods will now smile more on the colts, but not holding my breath lol) And we also have something else in common....you live in beautiful southern California while I live in beautiful tropical South Florida. I just bought a new budget friendly Fishing Watch and will curiously see if it helps. Haha

The ads for the Super Bowl are sold out MONTHS  in advance!   The teams that reach the SB help determine the ratings, and that helps set the rates the following year.   But there are other factors involved as well.

Your latest conspiracy theory doesn’t go anywhere.

Oh.  Sorry.   Looks like I’m keeping receipts again.

Man, when you going to wake up, or stop pretending you don't hear what so many others, not just me say??

I know you search the internet top to bottom for your stats and stories etc.... Don't you run up on what so many have been saying??? And every year there's more and more content about it. So much now that I wouldn't be surprised if your view is now the minority.

And that's just the internet. Do you go on social media? I don't, except for here, but I'm told its all over Facebook, Twitter, tiktok, etc.... And then there's the people talking and joking at sports places to watch sports like bars and restaurants.

But you and anyone else can believe in anything you want, even Santa Claus and the tooth fairy.

But, you know for a fact that I have been right for years and years while you, to put it nicely, have not.

I predicted in June that the Colts AND Texans would contend for the division with about 9 wins each. Most here expected or at least hoped to lose enough games to be able to draft Marvin Jr.

I know a few others here also  predicted that their team the  colts would win 9-10 games.

I'm sure at least a few homer Texan fans in Houston predicted their team would do well.

But how many Colts & Texan fans predicted that both teams would contend for the division???

Did you see any?? Did any of the Talking Heads, who you regard so highly predict that the colts and Texans would both contend for the division. I'm guessing a Big No.

I may have been one of very few in the country to properly make that prediction?

So cut a long story short I was right......AGAIN LoL.  Like I have been for years and years.

And, btw, what did you say about the colts in '23???

Oh, you said something along the lines that "can't we tell by ballards moves that the Colts are tanking for draft picks for '24". .....you remember???

    Wrong again my friend.

Difference between Mahomes and Brady though, Mahomes isn't a proven cheater. Mahomes has never broke any rules nor has Andy Reid, like Brady and BB have.

Scripted games and help from the refs when needed doesn't elevate him or Reid over any other QBs and coaches.

There are a number of other QBs that coulda had the same results if they were given the same script. haha

Mahomes turned into Brady. A little cry baby that wines about everything that doesnt get a flag. Also for some reason the chiefs are always getting blessed with the refs.

The dwindling amount of 'naive' fans that don't or won't admit to seeing that will disagree. They'll put them both on All Time Great lists ignoring that the results are tainted. LoL

Nothing fans can do but except the script and make some money on the highly predictable outcome. haha

Just look, what blitzing is doing for Kansas City. The make Jackson look like rookie. This is why I am so disappointed in Gus. One of the least bling teams in the league look where it gets us. I certainly hope that we can find a defensive coordinator that is brave enough to attack a quarterback and not sit back and let him throw 7 yard passes all day along

Some will counter not blitzing because of young corners......well who's fault is that???

After 7 years  you'd think the secondary, a prime position group in today's passing game, would have more experience and talent.

Burrow is not done yet, just been 4 years in the league. If he stays healthy another 10 years, he will get his share. Burrow plays a lot like Brady too, not turning it over, methodical clock control, not giving Mahomes on the other side many chances etc.

Burrow is as good as any other top QB, right there with Josh Allen. Its just that both of them and add Herbert to the mix that they have a much tougher road  than mahomes.

But with a High.profile hire of Harbaugh that may hopefully change for Herbert and the long suffering chargers fans.

I think AR5 has the talent and physicality to join the other elite QBs.

If any of what you just said were true, Dallas wouldn't have been excluded from the Super Bowl for 30 years.   The Bears would be there pretty regularly.   Indianapolis has a larger TV market than Kansas City.  So does Detroit and several other cities.  Your notion is nonsensical

Its a known fact that the league doesn't like Jerry Jones because doesn't share as much revenue as other teams etc.....raiders and other teams aren't liked also.

Naive thinking is getting old and becoming the minority way of thinking when it comes to the nfl and sports in general.

  15. I said it before and I'm saying it again: Super Bowl wins is a poor measuring stick when talking about all time great players.

There's so many things involved and needed to go to a Super Bowl.....and none less important than your market ability for the networks/advertisers to want you and your team to be there for them to pay and get paid the astronomical advertising rates.

Its a business and entertainment much more than a sport.

The championship games, imo, are the most important games of the year because they determine who the participants are in the Big Game. And in the last 21 years the Cheater(brady) and Mahomes were in 18 championship games.....

.. ...so much for the NFL being set-up for parity. Not when it comes to the Big money games its not. haha

  16. Poll closed before I seen it.

I wanted a raven/49er super bowl but thought   the networks/advertisers would want KC and the swifties so I bet KC on the money line AND parlay KC & SF. Lol.

I'm glad the Lions lost, and not just because I bet the niners. And I'm glad Dan Campbell is getting the Heat and criticism for his recklessness. The lions were the better team and maybe the football gods prevented them from going to the super bowl(drops and fumbles) but definitely the alpha mentality and reckless decisions by their HC did.

And I'm glad for that.

Will be a good 1/2 punch with Alzolay I hope.

Also made a trade with the Dodgers for one of their top prospects, sounds like they’re hoping he’ll be the starting first baseman. Don’t know much about him other then what I see online…

@2006Coltsbestever what do you think brother, is Bellinger coming back? I truly hope so, game changer and he has unfinished business.

Still trying to wrap my head around Counsel as Cubs new Skipper, so odd. Gives me Colts/McDaniels vibes….but it was definitely time for Ross to go. Counsel is supposed to be leagues better then Ross, guess we’ll see.

Going to miss my multiple trips to Wrigley now that I’ll live further away, hoping for at least one game a season. Rangers are about 3.5 hours away, and Astros…….yeah I’m not going there unless Cubs or Rangers are playing them.

@NFLfan With Spring training around the corner, is it time for a new thread? If you want to move this to new thread I am cool with it.😎

I think the cubs have a good chance of belinger falling back into their lap.

As far as the Yankees are concerned, I'm not as enthusiastic about their '24 season as I was after the Soto trade who I now doubt the Yankees will resign him in '25.

We still need a big starter to go along with Cole.... and fell short of signing the phenom from Japan. Seems their reluctant to financially get it done with Snell. Holmes, our closer is not consistently elite but watched Hader go to our rivals the Astros.

    Looking forward to April.

  18. There were a lot of starting QBs that missed lots of playing time, most that I ever remember. So I think its silly to think AR5 is injury proned. All running and mobile QBs are of course more susceptible to injury than pocket passers but they get injured too.

I think AR5 is the real deal and I expect or at least think he has a legitimate chance of being another Josh Allen, who I think is  arguably the best QB in the league.

Numerous factors of course are involved, not just physical talent and having it upstairs.

The thought that keeps coming to my mind is this:

How much more could we have gotten out of Shane Steichen the coach if he wasn’t juggling between coaching a team fighting for the playoffs and coaching up the 4th pick overall that is sidelined with injury?

I’ve seen throughout the year people say AR is soaking up information. Always with an iPad. Always next to coach asking questions. That is a difficult situation for a rookie head coach. Coach for this year, but also prepping for the coming years by getting an injured qb up to speed. Meeting individually with him often. Maybe that is just Shane, but I can’t imagine when AR is healthy, he is spending much time with other quarterbacks…

Hopefully, with a healthy AR5 in '24, a Steinchen team will have a better prepared team down the stretch as they lost 3 out of the last 5 games and seemed out coached in a couple of those. And on future 4th and 1 with the season on the line both JT and a healthy AR5 will be in the game. haha
