Hankins. Melvin, Mingo, Desir, Simon, the DT Jets got from us, wr Ingram etc....

OK, firstly Desir has not left yet. He is being allowed to test the market and still may yet return.

Even if he does leave, doesn't he bear a striking resemblance to Melvin last year, who left and did nothing for $7m (93rd rated CB by PFF for 2018).

Aside from maybe Henry Anderson, I don't think you can say any of those guys listed made a big enough impact at their position that you would rather have them than a younger player building reps towards his future.

  2. I know it is disappointing, but I feel like I have to remind people that there are 31 other teams in the league, all with needs and most with cash to spend!  We cannot sign everyone on day one folks (bearing in mind day one is tomorrow!! haha).

I understand the frustration seeing teams like the Packers and Jets making a lot of moves, but that is not how we have been built to this stage and I don't see it being the way we are built going forward.

Let's just take a breath and see where we are come the end of the week.

  3. Wow, log in this morning and the forum is in meltdown! That's not like us! :sarcasm:

I admit I woke up to see the flurry of activity and saw the news we had signed Funchess and it felt deflating.  However, a lot of posters on here, who know a lot more than me, have made me feel better about this with some valid points and a bit of perspective.  I don't think anyone will be rushing out to get their new Funchess jersey, but let's give the guy a chance.

Yes, it is a lot of money and, yes, it is not a "star name", but it looks as though this was someone that Ballard and Reich really wanted and we are not breaking any news that the Colts have the most cap space, and players' agents are more than aware of this too.

Let's not forget, Free Agency still hasn't even officially started yet and we still have a ton of draft capital, whether that translates to picks or trades, we still do not know what the WR room will look like come training camp.

  4. Love him.

The thing for me is not the fact that he predicts the plays, it's that he talks you through what he sees before the snap that means he can predict the plays.

For example "Gronk out left one on one, if the safety doesn't sneak over to double cover, expect the ball to go there".  He is educating the viewer, not just showing off by saying what is going to happen.

  5. It's a great question.

Both not just great players but great team-mates and leaders.

I think I would go with Nelson, purely based on how hard it is to find great O-linemen.  I think it would be much harder to get someone in at LG near his level than getting someone close to Leonard's level at LB (and much more costly).

No dig against the Maniac at all, just position scarcity that means Big Q is the one for me.

  6. I agree with @MTC in that it was worth a listen but a lot of it was reiterating what Ballard has already said. I did like the fact that Pat seemed to take this quite seriously, as his questions were clearly thought out and not just the same questions every journo asks.

In terms of the swearing, I found it odd that they bleeped out Ballard's F-bombs but not Pat's, was also odd as they left in Ballard's other curses.

As a Scottish person, f-bombs are part of our lexicon....used as verbs, adjectives and nouns and so I didn't particularly mind! haha

Did he play any during the regular season in 2017 or 2018?  I honestly have no memory of him but I did not get to watch every game.

To be fair in 2017 I kind of stopped watching on purpose.  Just not a person that can sit and watch his team lose every week.  Not going to change teams I like, but when the team I like is terrible, I usually stop watching at some point.

If I remember correctly he had a couple of great catches against Denver in 2017.  That is how he initially got on my radar.

Sticks out in the memory as I think it was a color rush game.

Matt Danely on Stampede Blue seems to really like him also.

I had him coming back for one year, $4m. But I think he wants more.

Do you see Rogers as a better option than Inman for us next year?  I know Rogers is the younger and cheaper option, but he didn't seem to offer much last year in my opinion whereas Inman seemed to step up more than anyone else not named Hilton.

I appreciate that wasn't every game but I thought he brought more than Chester.

Also a Rangers fan Dave. I think next year will be our year......

Good man! We at least seem to be finally going in the right direction after years of false dawns.

Yeah, a step too far this year but we just need to find consistency, as we have shown how good we can be on our day.  If we manage that we could be a force to be reckoned with.

Your opinion.   Even Manning said he wanted him

It may just be @NewColtsFan's opinion but it is 100% correct IMO.

You hear Ballard speak for more than 2 minutes and he will mention the importance of the locker room.  Not just the talent, but the character, that matters immensely to Ballard.  Yes he might take a risk on a player with previous issues, but not before exhaustive work to find out about what type of man he is (see Marcus Peters).

Incognito has been shown up as racist on more than one occasion, and you think Ballard would allow that in his locker room?  Never mind all the other issues listed by NCF.

....oh and you will need to provide a link to somewhere that shows Manning wanted him, as I couldn't find anything.

Be careful who you call from the UK. A lot of other Irish people would be veeeeery offended:ninja:

That's a fair point mate, apologies.  I was just scanning through comments looking for close locations....should maybe have phrased it better.

  12. In terms of the first one, I can see why people dislike it, but I can imagine it is what makes him the player we love.

The pancakes and strong finishes will come from his determination to "own" the opposition and that will come from internal processing of them as the enemy.

As long as it works for him and he leaves it on the field, which he seems to do, then I am all for it.
