Garett Bolles is a very interesting player. I also like Forrest Lamp of the O-line class. But overall I gotta go with Alvin Kamara. He had some runs last season that were absolutely ridiculous. Check out his tape against Vanderbilt.

The thing with this Vanderbilt tape is... I couldn't figure out if he was good and powerful or the Vanderbilt players make the softest and poorest tackles I've seen recently? But overall I can see why you like him. He's a fun player to watch and he has a lot of WOW explosive plays.

  2. You don't need to think he's the best player in the draft or even the best player at his position. You don't need to want him for the Colts(maybe he doesn't fit our schemes). He might just be a fun guy to watch but be projected in the late rounds. And yes, I will insist on a single player per person :D

My personal draft crush this year is Garett Bolles from Utah. To the point where I'm not even going to be mad if we drafted him in the first round. I love the guy. I love his story, I love his tape and he's expected to blow up the combine as well. I love how aggressive he is in the running game, I love his ability to recognize and execute blocks, I love the way he pulls at the second level. I love the way he finishes plays (there are multiple cases of him driving linebackers 20-30 yards downfield or pancaking them at the line of scrimmage. He needs to add a bit of strength, but damn is he fun player to watch.

His story is a bit weird and he has a troubled past, but of the kind that make you root for the guy to succeed.

After this he transferred to Utah from his juco this past year and usurped the LT spot from day one and just destroyed opponents on his way to First Team All-Pac12 recognition. He's now married and has a baby boy and is preparing for the NFL draft.

So there it is. Who is your draft crush in this year's draft? Do you want him on the Colts and at what point of the draft would you be happy to get him? What is the thing that made you a fan of said prospect?

P.S. Yes, I decided for the draft season to change my avatar picture to Garett Bolles ...

  3. Here's all the picks for Denver:

    20. OJ Howard, TE, Alabama
    51. Jaleel Johnson, DL, Iowa
    82. Kareem Hunt, RB, Toledo
    101. ArDarius Stewart, WR, Alabama
    127. Julie'n Davenport, OT, Bucknell

Thoughts? I wanted to pick a OT earlier but never found the right value. OJ Howard was just too good to pass on. Davenport is a bit of a project, but has great physical tools and can be developed into a good tackle IMO.

  4. Yes, that's indeed Jamaal Williams breaking down tape of his own games with Matt Waldman from the Rookie Scouting Portfolio. It shows an interesting perspective from the viewpoint of the running back himself about what he sees and how he processes information:

Jamaal has been a favorite prospect of mine for a while now and this video solidified my favorable opinion on him. Any time past round 2 I would be good with taking him for the Colts. He also seems to have good head on his shoulders and he knows his limitations(jump cuts) and is saying he's working towards improving in those areas.

And I believe it was Mel Kiper who started mocking Kelly to us before everyone else did and the report came out that we loved him. I expect the same will happen in his next mock.

I think it was Matt Miller that released the report that we love Kelly and that we are leaning toward selecting him at 18. I'm not sure who was first to start mocking him to us and if it happened before or after that report.

This reminds me of last year when every Mock had Taylor Decker going to the Colts. I'd say Cook would be a perfect fit with the Colts, but the dream pick would be either Foster or Thomas.

Yeah. It was Taylor Decker after Taylor Decker mocks... And about a week or two before the draft there was a leak from the Colts that we love Kelly and pretty much everybody after that point mocked him to us.

    Except ball tracking skills.

I'm absolutely not on the "Green sucks" train, but that's something he struggles with, and did in college. And it's a major concern for someone we presumably want to play free safety.

How easy is this to coach up? Can we even expect him to improve to playable level(because yes - I do think he's not playable, at least not at FS, if we want to contend for anything with his current level of coverage skills? The only reason to play him right now is for development purposes IMO.

  8. If he's cleared off the field, Tim Williams without a question. He is a true blue chip prospect. Purely talent wise I think he can be the best pass-rusher in this draft. If he's not cleared... damn... there are some really good prospects I wouldn't mind picking on this list ... it's probably easier for me to list the ones I would rather us not take at 14/15 rather than the ones I specifically want and since I haven't really done a big board I will weasel out of it by giving up the ones I like best(in no particular order):

Malik McDowell(again - needs to get cleared off-the-field, from what I've heard people talking he's as close to a cancerous player as there is in this draft, horrible attitude, horrible treatment of teammates and coaches, etc.)

    Marlon Humphrey

    Sidney Jones

    Derek Barnett

    Takkarist McKinley

    Charles Harris

    Teez Tabor

    Tre'Davious White

From the pass-rushers I think I like Charles Harris and Takk McKinley best. From the corners I like Tabor best.
