    Yep, a bright spotlight will be on this decision. You could have traded up. You could have had any of the other three QBs. Two of them will be playing in your division while your old coach has the 3rd. If the Texans, Titans and/or Frank are successful and you're not, it will be front and center.

    By draft day, they thought Stroud would fall to them. That's more of how I read it.

    If it doesn't work, someone else will be picking another QB two years from now. Irsay will return to the Manning era for the next GM and coach, I'm sure.

    Ballard tricks everyone into going along with his grinding style of play after all. It's odd that the same people who didn't want to run the ball with Taylor are fine with a game full of between the tackles QB runs.

    Taking someone like Richardson top 5 is completely unprecedented. It's hard to even wrap your mind around what the expectations should be.

    I can't believe we had a top 4 pick and used it on Anthony Richardson. Hopefully it works, but I have a feeling a new GM will be picking top 5 again two years from now. If it fails, Irsay will almost certainly go back to the Manning era for the next GM and coach.

    I get what you're saying, but if you do that, you're continuing to push the whole QB thing further down the road, more years into the future. Let's see if we can have a different QB starting in 8 or 9 straight years. Ballard might finally have the young QB he drafted playing in year 8 or 9, which just sounds ridiculous.

    I wouldn't mind having Minshew, but if I were him, I would go somewhere they're not drafting a QB top 4 - Green Bay or Tennessee, maybe. If Love doesn't work or Tannehill gets hurt again, you have a legitimate shot to be the starter. With the way Vrabel approaches the game, Tennessee could probably make something out of him like they did with Tannehill.

    They're drafting one of the top 3 and developing them from day 1, the way they want them developed. That's why you bring in Steichen.

    I just remembered a Colts game that was canceled - 2016 Hall of Fame game vs. the Packers. The field melted or whatever.

    Even during covid, I think every team played 16 games. Outside of strike seasons, I'm not sure when games have been canceled - maybe some weather or hurricane game I'm not thinking of.

    Chad is right. It takes a hell of a lot to get an NFL game canceled. JFK assassination - they played two days later. 9-11? They played. As I said earlier in the thread, following the Jovan Belcher murder/suicide, they probably wrapped up the crime scene in the Arrowhead parking lot only few hours before people started tailgating.

    It takes a lot to get an NFL game canceled. Jovan Belcher shot his girlfriend, then drove to Arrowhead and shot himself in front of Romeo Crennel and Scott Pioli in the Arrowhead parking lot. They still played the game the next day.

    The last time something like this happened in Cincinnati the game was canceled. Umpire John McSherry went into cardiac arrest on the field during a Reds opening day game. He didn't make it. Hopefully Hamlin will pull through.
