  1. After reading about his history, I don't think it would be a good idea, but I'm not slamming the door on the idea either.

He's not just an immature knucklehead, he's a full-blown addict.

However, sometimes addicts really do turn their lives around and apply their addictive personality to the right things.  It's possible he has pulled himself up out of that hole he dug for himself and is on the right path.  And if that's the case, he might actually be a good addition to our locker room.  If he is now addicted to working out and being healthy and improving as a football player instead of drinking, smoking, and popping pills before kickoff...

The idea of the Colts having the best version of Josh Gordon...

It's entirely possible that Brady made Belichick.

Have you been watching the Pats this year?

I know Brady isn't in his prime anymore, but he is surrounded by a pretty average supporting cast on offense, and it is showing.

It looks like his elite HC/Defense are going to carry him to another SB this year.  Again.

It's not really a telling statistic.

It's kind of telling.  An NFL career is very short.  Relatively speaking.  The longest career playing in the NFL is only half as long as the potential career-length in almost any other profession.

It's very hard on the body.

I knew a guy in the beer-keg delivery business, and he said almost every employee lasted about 6 months before moving on.  The only reason he had lasted 7 years was the 12 surgeries he'd had to have on his back, shoulder, etc.  Some jobs are like that:  the money is good, but people are being asked to do things the human body just shouldn't do.  :dunno:

Funchess and Pascal don't play the same position so it's moot.  Funchess is an in-traffic receiver who does his best work against man coverage, Pascal is a set piece reciever who plays very well in design plays against zone.  The two can easily coexist.

Pascal and Funch are "possession" WRs, while Cain has the the highest average target distance of all of our WRs.

I remember creating a thread about labeling WRs for this specific reason.

It's not like it used to be with Harrison, Wayne, and Stokley lining up in pretty much the same spots every play.  You can't just label guys as WR1, WR2, WR3, etc. anymore.

There's slot guys, outside guys, possession guys, man-beaters, zone-beaters, and they line up all over the place nowadays, especially with creative play-callers like Reich.  It's enough to make your head spin!

It stinks we were so depleted against the Raiders otherwise we would be 5-1. That is the NFL though. 6-0 had Vinny been himself on opening day. I am a Colts fan so I can make excuses for them as well for losing the 2 games we lost. We lost our franchise QB at the beginning of the season and people want to make excuses to why we beat KC and Houston. Jeez Louise Steve Harvey Lol GIF by NBC

    That slices both ways, though.

We can make excuses for the games we lost.  Opponents can make excuses for the games we won.  We could just as easily be 0-6 as 6-0.  Just a few key plays/players away.

Call it Luck.  Call it the loss of Luck.  Either way, the opponents can take their losses, I'll take the wins!  haha

  6. This might be kind of a taboo topic, but has anyone else noticed how many players on the opposite teams are getting injured when they play the Colts?

I understand injuries are part of every game, but it seems like these Colts are sidelining opponents every week.  From Melvin Ingram in week 1, to Mahomes and Chris Jones in KC, to Will Fuller and Jonathan Joseph on the Texans this past week.  There have been more along the way, I just can't remember them all.

This Colts team is playing a very intimidating and physically punishing brand of football.  I'm not saying it's a good thing to injure your opponent, but if upcoming opponents notice that it's becoming a theme every week, it might be in the back of their head on gameday, giving the Colts a slight psychological advantage before the game even starts.  :dunno:

The "soft" Colts of yesteryear are gone.  This Colts team is the new bully on the block.  :gym:

  7. Not only is he enthusiastic, but he seems really keyed into the game on every play.

His in-game awareness of down-and-distance, applicable rules, personnel on the field, and ability to adapt his strategy to the game situation is top-notch.  I don't think we've ever had a HC this good in Indy before.

He's not heartless, he loves the game, he loves his players, and he hasn't shown a tendency to exploit the rules (like a certain coach).  He has all the characteristics I want in my HC, and none of the ones I don't.

Before Belichick had Brady, he had a losing record as a Head Coach.  It's entirely possible that Brady made Belichick.

Brady would have zero rings without that elite HC/Defense combo he has had basically his entire career.

Belichick without Brady since 2001:  15-5.  That's pretty good compared to the 2-14 record of the Colts without Manning in 2011.

I don't think Brady could put a mediocre team on his back and carry it to the playoffs the way Manning used to do.

  9. Jacoby Brissett is the perfect QB for the situation the Colts found themselves in this year with the retirement of Andrew Luck.

He isn't going to turn the ball over and lose the game with stupid decisions.  He is getting better every week at going through his progressions, making the right read, and taking what the defense gives him.

If he hones his anticipation and gets better at looking off safeties and throwing open his receivers... :woah:  JB could put up some legitimate MVP numbers this season for a team that could find itself in the mix in January, and that's pretty amazing when you think about it.

@Lucky Colts Fan The 1992 Cowboys would tear them apart, you know it and I know it. Too big and strong up front. Emmitt would gain 100 yards on that Steel Curtain like it was nothing.

He'd have to last 4 quarters, and I'm not sure he would.

I hate to say it, but this is a no brainer.  Guy has been to 9 Super Bowls in 18 seasons...winning 6.

    Nobody else comes close.

    Reread the OP again.

This isn't a discussion of past accomplishments, or who the greatest QB ever is.

It's about who can do the most with the least help from his coaches, defense, and supporting cast on offense.  Brady has never had an average coach.  Or an average defense, really.

  12. You are the new GM of the Colts, but the ONLY thing you get to choose is your franchise QB, and it can be any QB in history in their prime.

You are saddled with an average coaching staff, average defense, and average supporting cast on offense.  Your QB has to carry your team.

You want to win the SB this year.  What QB in their prime would you choose?

probably a worse one than deflated footballs if we're all being honest

I disagree.  IF Manning and Luck were using HGH, it was because significant injuries made them unable to play the game they love.  They were just trying to get healthy enough to play again as quickly as possible.

IF Brady was in any way involved in over-deflated footballs, then we're talking about an unfair on-field competitive advantage over another team in-game (albeit, probably a relatively slight advantage).  Now you're messing with the integrity of the game.  That, to me, is much more serious than using any means necessary to get healthy enough just to be on the field playing the game.  :2c:

The possibility of someone at the bottom of the proverbial food chain messing around in a way that causes his bosses grief isn't just plausible, it's practically inevitable.

You really believe that?  The equipment guys went rogue and over-deflated the balls without Brady knowing it?  With a guy like BB at the top, who is meticulous with his entire organization, you really think some equipment guys did anything without BBs knowledge or permission (or even instruction)?  And that BB wouldn't have Brady in the loop about the benefits of under-inflated balls?

    Khari Willis

Team: Indianapolis Colts | Position: S

While second-round cornerback Rock Ya-Sin has been stingy in man-to-man coverage, he's struggled in coordinator Matt Eberflus' frequent zone looks. Fourth-round safety Willis, on the other hand, has been a revelation as a stand-in for injured starters Malik Hooker and Clayton Geathers. The former Michigan State star caught NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger's eye in the Colts' upset victory over the Chiefs, logging playing time in the box, at free safety, along the defensive line, in the slot and even out wide. It shouldn't be long before the versatile rookie overtakes Geathers for the full-time job alongside Hooker.

Occam's Razor would be that Brady is just another cheater in an organization full of cheaters.

But there's rules against using HGH to recover from injuries as an active NFL player.  And in 2015 when the story broke, Manning was active.

See?  You're assuming Manning used HGH, and you're assuming Luck did too, but you're assuming Brady had nothing to do with over-deflated footballs.

You're making assumptions all the way around.  But you KNOW nothing.
