  1.      Jack Conklin was taken in the middle of the 1st round last year and made the pro bowl.  Hopefully, either McGlinchey out of ND or Williams out of Texas will be there when we pick and we luck out like the Titans did with Conk.

I'd love if the Colts could figure out a way to get Quenton Nelson out of ND as one of our guards, but he won't be around in 2nd unless we really suck this year.  Tyrone Crowder could be an option.  Also, Gabe Jackson is an UFA next year I think.

I'm hoping Ballard will fix the Oline in one year like it appears he may have done with the dline with the additions of Woods, Hankins, and Hunt.

  2.       Not sure what your defininition of glass is, but my definition of glass means injury prone.  Nothing to do with toughness.  Injury prone players on the Colts are Davis and Luck for example.  Iron made players, meaning players you don't see on injury report very often with DNP unless it was for rest are Hilton, Gore, and Castonzo for example.

I guess we will just have to disagree on how important we feel it is to have most of the players practicing at full speed during the week in determining the team's success on Sundays.

  3.   I didn't say anything about starting games.  He's missed practices due to 14 different injuries since being here.  I would think it would be kind of hard for the secondary to form any type of cohesion when one of your elites is on the sideline during practices.  Also, I think it would be hard to perform at 100% with 14 different types of nagging injuries.  Not questioning his toughness, just saying he gets hurt a lot.

  4. I have zero faith there is any player currently on the roster that can play guard at the caliber Ryan Kelly plays center which is where the bar needs to be set.  I had high hopes for Good after the Rams game and then he went straight to IR.  Now, arguably our best 2 linemen are out for an extended period of time (Good and Kelly).  All we have is Castonzo and he is very average for a LT.  The guard class is weak next year except for Quenten Nelson out of ND and the buzz is he is one of the better guards to come out of college for awhile now.  If we can snag him and a proven veteran FA guard to put on both sides of Kelly we could finally have a nasty oline.  The d.ine looked good Sunday so hopefully, Ballard, who likes to build the trenches 1st can have both sides set up good after next years draft and FA period ends.  I think all of us new it would be a multi year build for Ballard.  Please don't bring Luck back behind this current OL.  He will get killed.  Just wait.

  5. I have some positives that we didnt have last year.  I know a lot of you hate PFF, but I tend to find it offers some elementary type of guidance on players performances.  All of our interior defenders has at least an average grade except for Ridgeway.  Woods actually had a score above 80.  All of our edge defenders had at least an average grade except for Sheard.  George had a score of almost 80 at ILB.  Farley had an average score of 75.  Hooker had a score of 68 which was almost average.  The rest of the secondary was horrible.

On offense, I think we have found our new RT.  Good had a score off 77.  Highest among OL.  Castonzo just broke into average score range with 71.  Everyone else had scores below 50 which is failing.  When Kelly gets back, we ahould have center and both tackle positions covered.  Worried about guard spots.  Doyle was only guy on offense with a score above 80.  Gore had a score of 75.  Everyone else not mentioned above had a failing grade.  Moncrief did have a score of 68 which is considered poor.

  6. I know most everyone is unhappy with the Banner pick in the 4th.  Maybe the coaches felt none of the linemen left were better than Haeg or Clark.  So, why not go with a monster from an incredible bloodline with great intelligence.  Give him a year with a strict diet, workout plan, and technique work and who knows, maybe we will have the next Alajandro Villanueva or John Ogden.  CB took one calculated risk in this draft on a mountain of a man with huge upside.  I think he will prove to be worth the small risk that comes with reaching on a 4th round pick.

He is a true Height Weight Speed guy. 4.7 guy at 270. Has 34.5 inch arms. His 10 yard split is 1.62 too.

I could see Ballard taking a flyer on Keionta Davis in the 5th to develop as another young edge.  Very similar to Basham.  6'3"  271 lbs. 4.72 40 time.   Verical 37.5   Broad  10.01   1.63 10 yard.

They are both big and are known for setting the edge.

  8. Based on BPA philosophy based on need after FA signings and 1st 2 days of draft, my picks in this order would be.  I'm sure CB has a much better feel for these guys than I do.  Keep rocking this draft!!

    1) Samaje Perine    (RB)

    2) Marlon Mack       (RB)

    3) Brian Allen          (CB)

    4) Howard Wilson    (CB)

    5) Anthony Walker  (ILB)

    6)  Elijah Lee          (ILB)

    7)  Elijah Qualls       (DT)

    8) Isaac Asiata         (G)

    9) David Sharpe       (OT/G)

I wouldn't mind doubling up on CB and taking another in the 3rd.  I think Rivers and Willis will be gone by then but good CBs capable of the #3 spot should still be there.   We still have nobody behind VD and Quincy Wilson, unless you want to count Butler.

Cordea Tankersly would be fine in the 3rd I guess, good at press coverage, but can be beaten if he doesn't execute good technique jamming receiver.  I can't see the Colts passing on one of the edge rushers if they are still there.  We really don't have anyone special backing up Simon and Sheard other than Mingo and Ayers.  At least we have Melvin AND Butler if Davis or Wilson go down.

  10. As far as CB's are concerned, I would prefer someone with excellent press technique.  Which would be Wilson, Tabor, and Tankersly.  The only problem is they all struggle in off coverage fearful of getting beat deep.  King, Witherspoon, and Awuzie all tested great at combine, but don't look as good on film according to the scouting reports I have read. They all are poor at press coverage and try to make up for it with superior athletic skills.  I think King and Awuzie will be drafted early in round 2 due to high ceilings.  I'm hoping Wilson falls to us (he may be the closest to a shut down CB that is left).  He is the only CB I would want in the 2nd due to how many quality #2 CB's will be available in the 3rd and maybe 4th.  I would rather take a chance and try and get Tabor or Tankersly in round 3 or 4.  Someone will drop to us in the 2nd like Hooker did in the 1st.  Trying to predict who it will be seems like a exercise in futility, but fun none-the-less, based on the crazy trade ups that happened in 1st.  IMHO, the safest picks based on off-field issues, injury histories and plug and play potential based off positions of need would be 1) Lamp 2) Wilson 3) Willis 4) Cunningham 5) Bowser 6) Basham.

  11. The best pure cover safety of the 2017 class, the bizarre offensive blitz by teams picking in the first 14 slots allow the Colts to get exceptional value on the defensive side of the ball. Marshon Lattimore is extremely dangerous and a solid playmaker, which GM Chris Ballard had as a top priority. Hooker is a bit risky and still a bit raw, but the ceiling is high for him long-term. Many Colts' fans will wonder if they should have gone wtih Reuben Foster, but the former Buckeye gives Indy top value at the pick. Grade: A

    Per Drafttek

  12. With all the linebackers and dline FA's brought in, it won't surprise me if we go CB in rounds 2 and 3.  The secondary has been neglected for so long and it's time to address it like we did the Oline last year.  We have nothing beyond Davis except Melvin.  Hopefully, we are set at safety with Geathers, Hooker, Butler, and Green.

  13. I think the chances are very slim that one of the top 2 S's (Adams & Hooker) or the top 3 CB's (Lattimore, Conley, White) will slide past the 9 teams ahead of us that have moderate to major needs in the secondary.  The secondary players that will most probably be left are Humphrey, Tabor, Awuzie, King, Moreau, and Jackson.  I'm a "build the front 7 and Oline 1st" kind of guy.  One of the top 2 ILB's, both worthy of being drafted in the 1st round, should be there.  The top rated guard and top rated OT should also be there.  All of the above guys are ranked around 15 on most big boards.  Majority of opinions say to not draft RB in 1st round.  There are no NT's ot DL3T or DL5T I would want at 15.  We could trade back to get a CB or edge guy in the latter 1/2 of the 1st round if Irsay is demanding CB draft those 2 positions early and often..  I know a lot of people think we are fine on the OL with Haeg at RG and Clark at RT.  I'm not sold on either one of them yet (I want to be).  And, what if one of them gets hurt and is out for an extended period of time (Good or Schwenke and more sleepless nights for Luck). Kelly was pretty much a sure think in the draft and he proved to be a stud.  Lamp appears to be in the same mold as Kelly and I really want him.  He's built like a guard.  Haeg, Good, and Clark are not.  And, Schwenke was benched by the Titans so he is just a depth player.   I want our starting oline to be Castonzo, Mewhort, Kelly, Lamp, Haeg or Clark).  Depth players (Haeg or Clark, Schwenke, Good, Blythe).

In all honestly, and I'm sure I will get criticized for this, I would love Lamp in the 1st and Mixon in the 2nd, then all Defense with the other 5 picks.  Yeah, our defense will still be average to a little below average, but the offense could be top 5.  The Raiders did just fine with an average defense.

We could still get Willis or Basham in the 3rd.

In the 4th, some of the following CB's should still be there: Tankersly, Griffin, Witherspoon, Wilson, and Elder.

ILB's: Walker, Lee, Maybin, and Beckwith.

Safeties: Jackson. Evans, Clemons, and Jones.

A lot of depth on defense this year so we can still get good talent in rounds three and lower.  We could get a good RB in later rounds as well, but Mixon could be the best RB talent wise in the draft.  We haven't had a blue chipper since Addai and we won the super bowl with him.

  14. It looks like all the NT prospects with early round talent are on the smallish side in terms of height, weight, or both.  Just looks like a whole bunch of DL3T's to me.  I did notice a couple big boys listed on drafttek that should still be available in the 5th.  I can't honestly say I know anything about them, but the 2 bigs I am referring to are;

    1) Josh Toupu    6' 3"  362 Lbs   Colorado

    2)  Josh Augusta 6' 4"  365 Lbs    Missouri

What do you think?  I know NT is a position of extreme need barring a FA signing of Hankins.  I almost wish we could get both of them and see if either one of them can hold up against the run or, if alternatively, they are more in the mold of Montori Hughes.

Well, nevermind, looks they are both slow and can only make plays if the ball carrier is right beside them.  But, I think Stevie Tu'Ikolovatu might be an option.  Compares to Brandon Williams.

    Nice effort.....

    Two criticisms.....

One in R3,  Mixon and Kamara should both be gone,  probably long gone by the time our pick comes around.  And the two other RB's I'm not sure I'd want to take them in the 3rd instead of a defender.    If those are our two best options in the 3rd,  then I'd rather wait until the 4th and take a back there.

The other issue to note....    is that you don't have the Colts taking a corner until our 2nd pick in the 4th round.   I think that's roughly pick 139.       I don't see that happening.    I think we'll take a corner in Day 1, or Day 2.

Otherwise, I appreciate the hard work that went into this.....    many thanks....

LOL, excellent critique and I think I have a good fix.  To make this happen we will have to roll with the OL we have now (Castonzo, Mewhort, Kelly, Haeg, Clark).  Then I would go.

    1st round -  ILB

2nd round - Tredavious White, Teez Tabor, Kevin King, Chidube Awuzie (CB)

3rd round - Terrell Basham, Ryan Anderson, Jordan Willis  (Edge)

4th round - Perine, Gallman, Mack, Hunt

and still try to get a DE and safety with the other 2 picks

5th round - Try  to get a NT
