While those losses hurt, beating the Texans in week 4 would currently put us in the division lead, and a win and a Pats loss away from a bye. I believe all of that can still happen next weekend, but it’s gonna take a lot of breaks. It could have also impacted the tiebreakers between the Titans and the Texans to the point that the Texans would be out altogether while the Titans would make it in.

We lost the game vs the Texans week 4. It's done regardless of how the board thinks it should've been played. You can't change that to a tie and say everything else stays the same. It doesn't work like that. The Texans L  is part of what made us the team we are now.

I'm fine with those results. Our season comes down to the game Sunday night  If the Texans lose it will not just be for a spot in the playoffs but to win the division.  I will take it and I doubt you'll find any complaints in the locker room.. I said before the season started that all the so called experts had poor memories. When healthy #12 is a difference maker. Guess what he's healthy and there isn't a QB in the league I'd rather have under C Sunday night.

     I hope we keep him.

I'm going to assume we don't know the extent of his injury but  he has the same potential he's always had.....and he's familiar with our offense and our QB..

With that said, I'm not sure of ALL the reasons we cut him.

I’m guessing frequently injured is near the top of my the list I don’t expect to see  him back on the field as a Colt

Stopping Zeke will be a very tough task for our defense. We haven’t played against any top 10 RBs yet so I wouldn’t be surprised if he runs all over us.

The D has been solid and Dallas has injury issues on their OL. Z Martin has been ruled out too. It would not be shocking but I’d be a little surprised and more disappointed. The plan has to be to make to make Dak beat us with his arm

I wonder if Bogdonavic would be better off if he played on the second team where he'd be a featured scorer.  No knock on either player..but Vic needs to go 1-on-1 a lot and all he needs is a spot shooter (like McDermott) .

I think Bogdonavic defers to Vic and on the second team he wouldn't have to. He was featured in the Olympics..I know he could score 15-20 a game for us (he's doing that with Vic out) .  McDermott would hurts the first team defensively but he'd get open shots and we tend to start game slowly

A second team of Sabonis, Bogdonavic, Cory Joseph, Tyreke Evans and Holiday or TJ Leaf (depending on whether we want to go big or small) could be very productive

That's makes sense if Bogy buys in but I remember starting just the opportunity to be part of the first 5 was important to him. I think it was one of the big reasons he signed here. We could get him minutes as the primary scorer with the second unit while keeping him with the first unit. Hopefully he and Vic will continue to mesh if and when Vic gets back. The time he's been out with a sore knee is concerning.

Evans has really been a disappointment for me. I was excited about what he could bring but haven't seen it. Have you seen what Alize Johnson has been doing up in Ft Wayne?

Looks like that kid down in Bloomington can play a little ball. He may have a future

Bog is having arguably an all star caliber year. Can't think many threes are playing as well as him. Guy gets 20+ almost nightly.

This is the Bogy we need when Vic gets back. The guy can score the ball Ive been saying it since we signed him. He was the top scorer in the Olympics. He's found a comfort level in Indy I think we are going to see his best ball more consistently this year. Vic being out and Bogy stepping up could really benefit this team in the long run. He has the skill it's  all about comfort and confidence for Bogy IMO.

  6. I like the kid. He has  size and is a plus athlete. Ballard said what most knew after the draft being a small school kid there would be an adjustment period. I'm not surprised he wasn't rushed into action due to injuries. The gave the kid time to adjust now they are going to let him show his stuff.  He was the MVP of the East-West game returned punts too. It'll be interesting to see what we do with him the last quarter of the year.

I mean, this is a thread titled "Ballard will get us that Running Back"  and Bell is the top free agent (most likely) Running Back available...... AND he has made numerous hints at wanting to be a Colt..... you are surprised, and better yet, weary, that this thread has some focus on him?

    Been on the internet much?

The thread is actually titled Ballard will find us that RB. That to me doesn't sound like the OP had Bell in mind. Have you been reading long?

That is what people said in the early days of the Sampson and Crean Eras

Sampson might have been the most disappointing hiring by any sports team in the state of Indiana for me. Miller coaches D and understands the importance of recruiting the state I think we are on the right path. There won't ever be another Robert Montgomery Kinight but IU bball is back

That place was rocking vs Marquette hasn't seen it like that in many moons

Not sure what he means but nothing would surprise me with the once proud program we had. IU hasn't been the same since Bobby Knight left after 2000. Davis had the one solid run in 2002 making the final game but it was Knights players he took there. Crean was able to recruit Oladipo and Zeller but never could advance further than the Sweet 16. I have no idea what this new regime is doing?? I am not sold on Archie Miller, I wanted Steve Alford. I have been a Basketball Hoosier fan since I can remember. I remember watching Isiah Thomas as a young kid destroy teams in 1981 on their way to the National Title. I remember Smart's shot against the Cuse to win it all in 1987, Alford got his Ring! Yeah the good ol days. I don't know what's worse the IU Basketball program or the Nebraska Football program lmao . Both are tough to watch now days.

Sounds like we are close to the same age my first memories of IU was Bob losing 1 then going undefeated loved Zeke.  Don't worry we are finally in good hands with Archie

Vic's shooting percentage has to improve or the Pacers will not win as many games as they did last year.

Free throwing shooting is a problem for Vic and the team. They both hit about 70% that's good for 29th in the league ahead of only Sacramento.  Hopefully Vic is just warming up he hits about 80% for his career and that's about as low as you want from your primary ball handler. I remember watching us shoot FT's was hard to do at times last season too.

It was encouraging to see Evans finally play the way most expected.

We've talked about it a lot this year.     Especially in August and September.    Ballard brings in all these kids and he has to see what he has.    How do the kids do in real games?

This past week,  we had Smith make a rare penalty in the 3rd quarter and suddenly we're facing 1st and 20.

The very next play works to perfection...   the J'Ville defense clears out and Hines is all by himself in the middle of the field.    Luck's pass is perfect but Hines turns his head to run with the ball before he catches it.    Dropped.     If he caught it,  he might have run a long, long way.

The next series,  a well conceived pass play finds Luck hitting Allie-Cox with a great pass.     Allie-Cox looks the ball into his hands,  but it goes through his hands, off his chest protector, bounces off and gets intercepted.     The perfect play works perfectly right up to the moment where it doesn't.

That's what kids do.     They make mistakes under pressure in big games.

This is the bad with the good.     If you're looking for Reich and Ballard to bench these guys --- you're going to wait a long time.   The kids still need to play.     The more experience they get this year,   the better they will be NEXT YEAR.

And that's what this year is about.     Making next year,  and the years after them,  as good as can be.

So, if we see more mistakes from the kids Sunday,   don't be too surprised and don't get freaked out.    It's what happens when you play the kids.   And Ballard and Reich know it.

Should be a great game Sunday!!

Luck is 9-0 vs the Titans let's make it 10

Honestly I would like to see more of Lewis, Turay and Ridgeway. Less of Autry.  Autry has been pretty quiet, or injured.

I agree Autry started off looking like a find in FA but injuries have really slowed him down. Lewis looked good especially considering it's his first action of the season. The second round Ballard put together doesn't look half bad. Leonard Smith and Turay look to have bright futures.  Lewis showed he can play on Sunday.  It's just one game still a lot to prove. He was the second rounder I thought would make the biggest impact as a rookie. He will have to do somethings a lot of things for that to be the case with the rookie year Leonard is having.

  13. Gabe Jackson is who I was hoping we'd draft back when we picked Mewhort. The guy's a beast never missed a game. I think he signed a 5/56M dollar deal through 2022. That being said the OL looks solid even absorbing injuries. I'm not sure but I thought Ballard said something about building thru the draft.  He has some crazy ideas about growing his own or something

  14. I was a big Turay fan when we drafted him. I said he wasn't as  raw or the project player some thought he was. I expected him to make an impact this season. The sky is the limit for this kid. I was pretty happy with all 4 second round selections

I recall a lot of head scratching by draft experts as well some fans. Leonard was a reach, Why take Smith after going Nelson in the 1st?  Who's the project from Rutgers?  Where's the skill players how about a CB? There was a lot of reaching for need. Really?

It's looking like Chris B and Co may know what they are doing after all. Leonard is on pace to be the DROY, Smith is settling in at RT and Turay looks to be a much needed differenc maker of the Edge.  If Lewis can get on the field and play up to the reports coming out of camp pre injury.  That's a heck of a second round.

As far as who we didn't draft. Mack was going to get his shot that's why he was drafted. The same can be said for Q. The addition of Hines and Wilkins may turn into a 3 headed monster that silences the RB cries. The OL is looking like a strength our early picks are a big reason.

The O right now looks to be a play making WR away from being insane. The D needs more play makers but we have over half a season to watch these young guys continue to develop. I'm anxious to see Lewis get on the field and hopefully Fountain gets some run too.

Both! I started watching football maybe 15 years ago, first game i saw was colts and manning. Have been a colts fan ever since! It helped that the seahawks were terrible back then too:D

Where are you in Oregon? I moved down from AK almost a year ago. I was born in Indiana will  make it home one day. I've grown to love being near the ocean it'll be tough to leave that behind.

  16. I think Grant has been ok. Rogers is the guy I am most disappointed in too. This is year 3 for him there really no excuse for his drops particularly the deep ball that was thrown perfectly. Pascal should catch the ball too. He did a better job the week prior. This was his first time having a big role and his first prime time game.  It may have been a rookie trying to hard. We will see how he rebounds.

Count me in on wanting to see Fountain get some action. Ishmael too before the season is over. We could still have the capable WR's on this roster. The young guys need to play for us to figure that out. They will make mistakes and probably drop a pass or two. That shouldn't continue to happen and certainly not into year 3.

Luck turning 30 is not like he is retire in a couple of years. Hell, Brady is 42 I think.

Just stop with the doom and gloom before you see the final results of what Ballard is doing.

Agreed it's after every game the same stuff. Ballard has explained his approach to building this team. He is doing it just like he said he would.  He isn't going to go nuts in FA. Those who are waiting for that will be disappointed.

As as far as this game. We are a very young  team that has been devastated by injuries. We had some of our top players out on a short week playing in a place few teams win. We are adding talent maybe not as fast as some would like but it's happening. Guys are going to continue to grow. We need to add more talent and I doubt anyone is more aware of that then Ballard.

Luck as previously stated is going to be 30. He has his best football in front of him. The guy looks like he's back in HS  Did you hear his scream and see his flex the touchdown after we got it to 24-17?

A video analyst, not sure of his name. I’m trusting he’s correct, so it could’ve been wrong, but Like Diamond on his podcast said it was at least 6-8.

Agreed I didn't keep a running count during the game but I saw almost every WR including TY have trouble. I haven't rewatched  but I seem to recall a lot happening with Luck throwing from the sun to the shadowed part of the field.

  19. The Chiefs aren't terrible but never excellent and the Bills four straight Super Bowl losses That had to be devastating for that city  They were so close in their first attempt if Norwood hits the field goal who knows how that changes things.

Let's see how it plays out with Grant. If I'm not mistaken, he's on a 1-year contract. If he's not retained, then Cain would be his replacement. We would still need to get better at WR.

We might want to pump the brakes on spending an early pick on a WR or looking in FA. We have only played a 1/4 of the season and Luck needed time to shake off some rust. We could still see someone emerge from the group behind TY.  We have young guys there maybe one or two who just need the opportunity.  Grant is the only guy who had played regularly prior to this season.

I have said since we signed Grant he would be the best WR to line up across from TY since Reg retired. He does things that don't show up on the stat sheet like blocking. He could earn a contract.  We are still waiting for Rogers to breakout. This season is the first he sees significant time and he just caught 8 balls on 11 targets Sunday.  I want to see more of Pascal like that kid.  We can't forget this years draft picks Cain and Fountain. Hopefully Fountain develops and we see him by seasons end.  Both guys should be in camp next year.  We traded for Johnson the drop wasn't a good start but he's another guy who's an unknown.

We will have a much better idea by the end of the year what we have in these young guys. We may be surprised.
