  1. He's hasn't lived up to his draft status.  There are questions about his drive and love of the game. He was released after a tantrum on the sidelines vs NE last week. Does that sound like the profile CB talks about when bringing guy's in the locker room?  He's probably best suited for a 3-4 anyway.

There were 9 drops. So in reality, Luck was 51/60 if there were no dropped passes. That’s really impressive by Luck.

Where did the number 9 come from? It sounds about right just curious.

I really like this pick up. Especially with having Rathman to coach him up.

I think it will work out good for us. He's got the ability to be an every down back. He's tough and a good inside runner.

Yeah I like the move and also liked Williams coming out of Arkansas. He's had a strange run in the league. He was expected to be Shadys primary back up in Buffalo. He was a surprise cut. Then this year after a solid preseason in NO. He was expected to see a lot of time as the guy behind Kamra while Ingram was out. Again he was a surprise cut.

I'm not sure what that's all about but hopefully he gets it straight here. There would seem to be an opportunity for him in our backfield.  Reich wants to use a platoon of backs. His size and speed vs a tired D would be a good match up for us. He did put the ball on the ground a bit at Arkansas but I don't think that's been a NFL issue for him. Maybe something to keep an eye on.

He had about 3 that I can recall on a few slant routes he ran. The catch that killed us the most was the Marcus Johnson drop in OT he was wide open.

Grant had one drop vs Houston. He caught 5 of his 7 targets in that game and has brought in 18 of 23 for the season.  Here's the team stats through week 4 click on the name to see individual game stats.  I haven't had time to double check but I think a lot of the balls we had trouble handling happened with Luck throwing from the sun to the shadows.  That isn't an excuse and wasn't the case with Johnson's costly drop.

There is a HUGE difference between a dropped pass and a contested catch.

I marvel at people clamoring on and on about it. As a former WR it's infinitely more difficult to catch and hold on to the ball when you have a DB draped across you or swatting at your hands or chopping your arms - which was the case on quite a few of the "drops" this year.

The only true "drop" that I recall yesterday was Chris Johnson on that 4th and 2 when he turned his head to run too soon.

If there were others I ask you to rewatch the game and look at those contested catches that were "drops"!

I agree with what you are saying. There were some contested and others the DB slapped away but there was more then one dropped pass yesterday. The Johnson drop was the worst of the bunch but  Hines dropped a little dump off.   Pascal and Grant might have been guilty too if I remember correctly.

I think part of the problem may have been the roof. I'd have to go back and watch to be sure but I think we had problems when Luck was throwing from the sun. I'm not trying to make excuses we should still catch the ball.

That being said I don't quite understand the call for an early pick on a WR. We need more speed? The guys we brought in run 4.4 or better with size. Grant has played well and Rogers is coming along. I have liked Pascal from jump street. We will get Cain back and Fountain/Ishmael from. the PS..

This group has potential from where I sit.

I'm afraid those who want a WR early will be disappointed.  I think Ballard is going to give these guys a go. That's why they are here. It is a bit early to declare the WR position a need It has  just been 4 games and last week our QB was broken.  Our draft picks from this draft aren't on the field. This week Luck goes for almost 500 yards minus his top guy and safety blanket and the WR's stink?.

And what exactly was Doyle before they actually gave him a chance? Nothing but a little H back who caught passes in the flat every now and then. You know exactly why the timeframe was long.

Doyle did what a TE3 has to be able to do to earn an opportunity. First of all he was available week after week. Then he did the dirty work well mostly  blocking while making good on whatever other opportunities came his way.

I like Swoope and he has a great story. It's going to be very difficult making it as a TE3 or TE4 if you are just a receiver.  Does he contribute on ST's? That's why he's not on the Colts or any other roster.  He is not a reason we lost on Sunday.

We lost that  game because  2 turnovers gave the Texans an easy 14pts. We aren't winning many games when we give up 14pts on 8 gained yards. It wasn't the roster, dropped passes, not signing more FA's or any of that other stuff. The Kelly snap to no one is inexcusable.

I don’t understand cutting Swoope with Doyle out...  There’s gotta be more to this story. Either injury or something else because this Hewitt guy has been a waste thus far.  No speed and they keep bring him in on these jumbo formations and we go nowhere...  Maybe he’ll be more effective once Turbin is back but there’s no way I’m keeping him and releasing Swoope.  I’d have even brought Daniels back.

My guess is it's about blocking with both T's out. Doyle is best blocking TE and he's out too. Ebron and Swoope aren't great at blocking so we have Hewitt and Mo. I don't think Swoope is a difference maker myself but who knows.

I believe so. 6:30 kickoff. It's at home and we made an upgrade at qb so that is the only reason I'm giving us a chance. Still think Stanford wins by a TD.

Irish are a different team with Book at QB. That was a big W. The Cardinal have had our number. They'd won 3 in a row overcoming second half deficits by out scoring us like 39-7 in the 4th quarters.  We head to Blacksburg next never an easy place to get a W.

What does not having Turbin have to do with the problems of the running game?

You were expecting him to start and be a 1,000 yard rusher?

Turbin is a situational short yardage running back.

Not sure what you were expecting?

I was not expecting him to be 1,000 yard rusher but I think he would have started in Mack's place. I think given the opportunity Turbin will show he can do more then handle short yardage duty. He may prove to be the best all around back on the team. He is by far and away the best blocking back on the roster. When your starting T's are injured and you have rookies in the backfield in pass pro that changes things. His absence has been felt beyond short yardage situations IMO.

There are two short yardage situations that were pivatol points in our two losses that I think Turbin's availability impacted. The first was the week 1 possession after K Moore's pick. The second was in Philly when we stalled at  the 4 yard line. If Turbin were available I think we pound the ball in those situations. We will see if things are different when he returns. I thought going into the season Turbin could surprise and still feel that way.

  10. My pick is Turay. I read the game is starting to slow down for him. I liked this kid predraft and was very happy we took him. He's going to be trouble for opposing OL's when he puts it all together. It just so happens his breakout should go hand in hand with a certain S showing his ball skills as well.

  11. He started at RG for us in one game. I am pretty sure it was the game in London.  That did not go well for us or Austin.  We cut him because he lacked position flexibility as a Colt. Whatever the reason was be it scheme fit, short arms, or lack of strength. He struggled playing G while he was here.  It's next to impossible to make a roster as a reserve if your a pure pivot.

It is good to see him having success else where. We may have found something Grig's was good at. He nailed those 7th round picks and went OL heavy. We have to toss out the 2012 draft but after that his 7th rounders were K Williams 2013,  John 2014, Good 2015 and Blythe 2016. That is quite a run. Unfortunately Good is the only one that helped the Colts. .

I think we should call Fountain and Ishmael up and cut Pascal and Johnson. Or maybe go with Johnson and Fountain. I think we need more size and athleticism. We could always use Chester Rogers at KR. And I most definitely think we should be taking greater advantage of packages that have Swoope and Ebron on the field at the same time. Reich hasn't gone the direction I've wanted to go with that yet but as soon as he figures it out It's going to open up some things for us. Swoope hasn't dropped a ball yet. They need to target him more to take heat off Ebron and TY. I think the run game will improve with the availability of Mack and Turbin. Whenever we get Costanzo back that will help. Plus Good on the right side.

I think the run game and Turbin have been the bigger issue too. When Turbin got suspended I knew that was going to cost us early. He's one of those guys who you don't realize how much you miss. The series following the K Moore INT return week one and then getting stoned at Phillys 4. Those are 2 game changing situations where we really missed Turbin. We aren't scaring anyone going with 2 rookies. Then we have our best run blocking OL out and then our best blocking and short yadage TE.

That's a lot to overcome. Hopefully we start getting these guys back. When we are able to run the ball more consistently things will open up. I expected Rogers play better and it's early he may.  Our receivers as a group need to catch the ball.  I don't think the O is that far off some of this is a bit of an overreaction to playing a good D on the road in less then ideal conditions.

We are young and many didn't think we would be this competitive. The season just started things will come together. It usually takes the O a little longer and we can't forget new coaches new system and our QB is playing his way back in to it.

  13. Hopefully we get AC Doyle and Mack back this Sunday. IMO the inability to run the ball has been the biggest problem with the O. I knew not having Turbin would be a problem. That and injuries to key guys have really hurt this side of the ball.  It's tough without your top OL TE and RB.

The Texans will test the D. I hope Sunday was a step forward for Turay. When he gets it figured out he's going to be a handful. Watson has had back to back 300+ yard games and they have a lot of speed outside.

I don't see anyway we get caught looking at NE. This is a division game we will be ready to go. I think the Colts get the W in a high scoring game.  31-27

Ya I meant DB. My bad. Him and Moore are both 5’9”

It's a head scratcher having 2 CB's that small especially considering Ballard's CB profile. I was a fan of K. Moore when we brought him in. He had tore up NE's training camp turning a lot of heads. The buzz he created with the Pats and his pre draft numbers 6.86 3 cone, a 40.5 inch vertical, 10'7" broad jump and a 4.4 forty made him an interesting addition.

I don't know much about Maulet except his size. Ballard must see something to put in a waiver claim. It sounds like  NO hoped he'd slide through the wire. They cut him to make room for LB Biegel. We are going to have our version of the Smurfs. It'll be interesting how it plays out.

I’m somewhat surprised people are turning on an above avg LT that has a history of being consistent and healthy, and who if were another teams FA these same exact fans would say we should sign.

I am surprised that you are surprised.  The dumbest post of the season are made about AC every year. There are couple of real contenders in this thread.

I think we have a chance at 10-6, we just need to beat the teams we supposed to beat like the Bills and Raiders for example + get wins against the the Texans and Titans at home. I really wish we would've won that Bengals game but oh well. We somewhat made up for it yesterday because winning on the road is never easy.

We usually win one no one thinks we are going to. That being said I think we get one of our toughest three games. We either win @Philly @ NE or @ the Jags. I would love it if this were the year we into Foxboro and getting the W.  I think it's much more likely we get Philly. They haven't really been able to get going this season. A Super Bowl hangover maybe. They get Wentz back and he will help the team in the long haul. He's going to take a minute to find his groove. We really couldn't get them at a better time and Reich's history there should help.

I guess I should have looked up his measurements and not taken the announcer's word on it.  5'11" is a lot different than 6'2", but he does look good so far.

We really don't get accurate measurements until the combine anyway. Anyone who thinks we are going CB in the first has not been paying attention. The only way I can see that is if the CB is by far the BPA. I don't think that will be the case in this coming draft.

I think even at 2-3 we can still go 9-7 because after we play the Pats the schedule gets favorable. We then play the Jets, Bills, and Raiders.

I don't see how we lose 7 games unless we get hit by injuries. We should win the home games.  Let's say we drop one and we gave away the Bengals game so we go 6-2. That means we have to go 2-5 on the road. We already beat Washington.  We play Philly, NE, NYJ, Oak, and then the Jags, Titans and Texans.

We should beat Oakland and the NYJ.  So we have to lose every other road game.  Philly hasn't looked good and it's a good spot for us. Wentz first game back trying to shake the rust off.  The Texans and Titans don't scare me.  Houston has problems IMO.  We know Chris B and crew want that NE game.

I think we go at least 3-4 the rest of the way on the road. If we take care of business at home that's 10-6.

Im waiting to see what we can do on the ground with the full stable available. Mack, Turbin, Hines, Wilkins.

Yeah it's tough to judge the running game with our RB1 and best offensive lineman out.  Turbin will help but if we are counting on him to jump start the running game that's not good. I think Mack is going to have a big year.

I will give V a listen. Ridgeway could be valuable at least for passing downs. Pressure in the QB's face makes it tough and helps the E get home. The injuries had to play a role in our inactives what that means for Ridgeway who knows.

It may be difficult to have all 6 WR's active. If Pascal is now the top KR he may continue to  get the nod.  I like that kid.  Pascal Chester and Grant are all 6'+ and run in the 4.4's.  Johnson is a hair faster but they all should be able to get deep. IR will be interesting to see what we do there. Johnson had some KR experience at Texas. That may be his ticket.

I feel like the Colts are going to play a very good game this week.  I just have that feeling.

I agree the +6 is like free money. We should be able to run the ball more effectively with Mack and Castonzo back. Ive been saying it since this summer this is the best group on offense Luck has had to work with. I wish they'd have said something about Ridgeway being inactive. I bet he is active this week and records his first sack of the season. I don't think the preseason was a fluke I expect Ridgeway to flourish in this system.

Now if they get Corey Coleman playing good then that's double to deal with in terms of speed.

From what I saw of Coleman on Hard Knocks I'm going to go out on a limb and say he will have trouble dealing the hoodie. PD was a good kid by all accounts he just struggled to put it together on the field for us. As hard as it is for me to like a Patriot its good to see PD have some success.

Tyreek is a freak. He looks like the road runner in a video game.

Tyreek is a bad man I had him last year and again this year in all 3 of my fantasty leagues. He put up solid numbers last year but he out ran Smith's arm more than once. That shouldn't be a problem with Mahomes. He may not be as good as Smith yet but he has a stronger arm. Tyreek is going to explode this season as long as he stays healthy. The 169 rec yards 2tds and 91 yard punt return td are a glimpse of what's to come from this guy
