No, in my youth I was. I enlisted at 17, got the freak out of there and never looked back. Used the GI bill and a full time job to get myself through college and earn a masters degree and go on to have a career. I dont and didn't let ancestorial history and actions define me.

The only  way to heal a wound is to let it be and let it heal. Picking at it and constant reminders of those heinous days will only make it continue.

Okay. Thanks for sharing. I don't disagree with most of that. I just think that for some, it may be harder to move on from than others.

It shouldn't matter if a white person said it or a black person. It still shouldn't be used by anyone. Saying it's ok for one group to use said word but not another is actually a racist notion. Why?

I think a black public figure would get in trouble for using that word. Young people using that word amongst themselves is repugnant but what are you going to do to them? Arrest them?

Ive worked with at risk youth from the most violent sections of our inner cities for years now. I have to explain to each of them how they shouldn't use that word when referring to their own friends and family when others lose their careers and livelihoods for saying it once.

While I think this was overblown and someone should not have lost his job over this, I disagree with your comment above. There is a difference between someone calling a member of his/her group a derogatory word and someone from outside the group using the same word. I'm sure you can understand that. Don't you get upset when a non-Americans criticizes your country? I know I do.

In addition, you probably are not from that group ("risk youth from the most violent sections of our inner cities").  If you're not, those youth probably will not appreciate what you're telling them, as they can dismiss that as coming from someone who cannot relate to them. On the other hand, if a member of their own group tells them they should not use the word, that will resonate with them more.

Call it the Pappa John effect

the are certain words or quotes one does not use in public esp. if you are a public figure

I think Lamey made a mistake

I don't think that is a good comparison. I had to read that article several times to make sense of it. He did not use the word himself to address someone or to describe someone/group of people. He was quoting someone else while telling a story. What's so egregious or offensive about that! Okay, the word is offensive but look at the context.

I agree with Stitches. This should have been a non-story. There are real stories of racism. This is not one of them.

Cincinnatti's starting safety released after 4 seasons....as the starter......for cash money reasons..

    6-4, 215.......28 years old...…...who needs him?

….Dallas...?  Green Bay?  Bears?   ...another certain Midwest team?

When Iloka was a free agent two or so years ago, the Vikings tried to sign him. Reports were that we offered more but he chose to stay with the Bengals. He has a relationship with Coach Zimmer from Zimmer's days in Cincy.  We now have no room for Iloka unless we move on from Andrew Sendejo. With these new rules, I can see Sendejo being penalized often because of his excessively aggressive style of play. So, maybe we replace him with Iloka. Not likely.

  7. I can't beat PT's list but I've been to some.

    Baseball

Mets -- many times since 1992; one year I went to over 20 games, but I go to one or two a year now.

Spring Training-- Mets, in southern Florida

I have also been to a few Yankees games but it has been a while.

Minor league baseball: Mets in Binghamton, NY in 1992

NFL -- Vikings in MN, DC, Atlanta in last 3 years; Giants, at least one game a year since 2014; Jets, about 7 games since 1996

NBA basketball -- about 3 or 4 Knicks games

Hockey -- 1 game (I am not a hockey fan)

College Basketball -- in college and later at Madison Square Garden (saw Indiana, Temple, and some other teams)

Tennis -- I used to go to the US Open but it has been a while since I was last there.

I'd like to attend a round of a golf tournament.

Lol, I love the Colts but sometimes I forget they're in Indiana...

Then I see some posts here and remember exactly why I left.

I don't know how many posts were deleted but the person who wrote those  comments that I read is not from Indiana.

But I agree that this poster's comments are almost as inane as Jalen Ramsey's ludicrous comments about Luck, Big Ben and others. I'll take Luck on my team right now and would win multiple Super Bowls.

I can see I've wasted my time here.  Again.  I don't know why I thought this time would be different.

I appreciate your attempts to bring some awareness to one's behavior (argumentativeness). I agree with you. However, your efforts are clearly futile. There is no self-awareness. So, to maintain some level of civility and to enjoy the forum, it is best not to continue.

Does any body think Chad Kelly plays a lot like Baker Mayfield

He sure did. I wanted the Vikes to draft him last year. One of the guys on the Daily Norseman is an Old Miss fan and he swore by Chad Kelly. He is competitive and does not give up on plays. He plays like Mayfield-- with that competitive nature.

I think Chad may replace Case.

I like all your picks. I think the Giants are underrated.

The Vikes OL is a mess again. I read where your favorite guy Incognito said he got a call from the Vikes. I hope we don't sign him. I want no part of him.

(I signed up with this forum after reading your posts about Incognito back in 2014. I agreed with you 100%.)

Coach Zimmer says he has no interest.

    AFC

    Patriots - East

    Chargers - West

Steelers - North (but record is down and barely ahead of the Ravens)

Jaguars - South (narrowly over Houston, Bortles doesn't regress as bad as folks believe he will)

2 Wildcard teams - Broncos, Texans

    NFC

Giants - East (Eli makes a last hurrah; and a good one too)

    Rams - West

Vikings - North (Cousins finally does it)

    Falcons - South

2 Wildcard teams - Packers, Eagles (especially if Wentz is not fully healed)

    2 potential surprises-

49ers - if Garoppolo continues on his upswing

Colts - if defense gels early.

I like all your picks. I think the Giants are underrated.
