I don't know them enough to give informed opinion. I liked Holton Hill a lot in the draft... how has he been? Roc Thomas could be a RB claim for some RB deprived team
You need a WR? The Vikes released Tavares King, WR. He played for the Giants last year.

Vikings' cuts so far (these were the easy ones to make):
WR Cayleb Jones
WR Korey Robertson
WR Jake Wieneke
QB Peter Pujals
LB Antwione Williams (many of us thought he would make the team)
G Kaleb Jones
G Kareem Are
T Dieugot Joseph
CB Trevon Mathis
RB Kobe McCray
FB Luke McNitt
LB Mike Needham
C JP Quinn
LB Brett Taylor -

Hill has looked pretty good but not as good as the veterans. He gave up a few big plays in preseason but that is expected. I think Zimmer likes him. Yesterday he returned punts and those on the game thread said he looked good. (I don't get all the Vikings games where I am.)

Who has the inside track for Backup QB Siemian or Sloter
I hope it is Sloter. Love the kid. Siemian has been awful. I think we can cut him and sign someone else or go with just Cousins and Sloter.

Jacoby for... Hunter... who says no?
I'll take Luck for Hunter.
Seriously, what do you think of our bubble guys? I love Weatherly and would hate to lose him. I like Onegdibo too. I know you liked Holton Hill. And RB Roc Thomas.
I read that we are shopping CB Mackenzie Alexander, 3rd year guy.

I expect up to 7-8 more trades before then, and that the Colts could possibly replace up to 5 players with waiver wire pickups... IF... then Pro player department has done their homework on likely player releases and have supplied draft and pre-season tape to Ballard and Reich for review to convince them they are more valuable than the guys already on the roster that they have invested in all summer.
I wish the Vikes would trade some of their assets rather than cut them. They are not going to be able to keep all the DL men and DBs they value. We have a few that I hope to keep but we may have no room for them like Stephen Weatherly, Ifeadi Onegdibo (spelling?), Tashawn Bower, Holton Hill, and some of our WRs like former NFL WR Don Beebe's son.

I beg to differ. You leave out pertinent data to come to erroneous conclusions. Let's do it this way-
You have two QB's taken in the first round on the roster. One needs to go. Which one do you keep?
Player drafted #3 overall, just beginning rookie deal for 4 years w/ 5th year option, no injuries
or
Player drafted #31 overall, rookie contract expired and on a 1 year deal, coming off one of the most major knee injuries one can experience?
Throwing, film study, knowing coverages, NFL experience etc. all lean TB's way right now. New Orleans gets the luxury to determine if TB is going to be in their long term plans when a transition from Drew Brees is imminent.
Well said, as usual. I do hope Teddy does resurrect his career and starts somewhere in the NFL. I don't like that it is with the Saints but that is a good situation for him.

I agree that is what is being said now...but PT isn’t wrong either. I was watching NFL Network when it came across and they did make it sound like he was on the bus. They were even joking around about him having to get an Uber to New Orleans. Obviously it’s been cleared up now and is understood that he wasn’t on the bus.
I’ll step away now.
I know. I had read Tom Pelissero's tweets. But when something seems like it may not be accurate, I try to read more about it to see if it is true. Other reporters clarified what happened. I wanted to make sure I shared that. That's all.

I went off the Tom Peliserro(sp?) tweet
I can't seem to embed tweets here but here are the links.
From Schefty:
"Jets informed Teddy Bridgewater that he was being traded to New Orleans this afternoon, before the team left for Thursday’s preseason finale in Philadelphia; Bridgewater then stepped on to the Jets’ bus to say goodbye to his summer teammates."

From Albert Breer:
"Pretty cool move by new Saints QB Teddy Bridgewater: Found out he was being traded, went to the bus to make sure he said good bye to all his Jets teammates before the team took off for Philly for the fourth preseason game."

It is what the initial reports said
He was told he was traded earlier in the day. He went to the team bus to say goodbye to teammates. I'll go find the quotes from Schefty and others.

I'd be willing to bet that this sort of stuff happens all over the country. Only a few unlucky ones here and there get themselves caught.
I agree. I only posted the link because Princeton Tiger mentioned that the coach may be in trouble but he did not elaborate. So, I posted the article so others would know what he was referring to.

I hope the REFS don't Ref like this all season because they have been awful. That last Sack by the Vikings wasn't even close to Roughing the Passer. 19 overall Penalties is a joke.
That bogus call cost the player a $24K+ fine. That is ridiculous.

That's a steal
He signed a team-friendly deal. We're pleased.

Maybe they trade Sendejo you could get a second or 3rd out of him I bet.
I don't know. There are still some free agent safeties like Eric Reid who are still available in free agency. Reid is better than Sendejo, I believe. Let's see.

Your OL is not nearly as bad as you make it seem. Based on 2017 stats, they are middle of the pack in run blocking but were Top 6 in pass blocking, so it cannot be that Case Keenum protected you all the time . For years, that is how the Colts under Peyton were, middle of the road in run blocking and around top 5 in pass blocking. With an upgrade at QB, you will be better on the passing front, no doubt in my mind. Good luck!!!
https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/ol
Look at Baltimore - Top 10 in pass and run blocking, lack of QB play is what killed them, like lack of good D with Raiders. 2017 AFC Playoffs would have been different with the Ravens in the picture, I think 2018 playoffs will have them.
Every year is different. Our top offensive lineman Joe Berger retired. Nick Easton is on IR -- lost for the season. Pat Elflein and Mike Remmers are injured. We are starting players that had been on the practice squad last year.
Even if we had the same OL as we had last year, our OL would not rate as high. Keenum made the OL look better, as he evaded pressure and did not take many sacks. Ask any Vikings fan if you don't believe me.

Strength on strength! You must be excited for the new season?
Yes, I'm excited, as I am every year at this time. I wish we valued offensive linemen as much as we do defensive backs. Our OL is subpar and may hold us back from playing as well on offense as we hope. We'll see.
All the best to the Colts this year.

When Iloka was a free agent two or so years ago, the Vikings tried to sign him. Reports were that we offered more but he chose to stay with the Bengals. He has a relationship with Coach Zimmer from Zimmer's days in Cincy. We now have no room for Iloka unless we move on from Andrew Sendejo. With these new rules, I can see Sendejo being penalized often because of his excessively aggressive style of play. So, maybe we replace him with Iloka. Not likely.
@oldunclemark He is signing with the Vikings.

I don't think it was a joke. It was a quote from a member of an IRL racing team member.
He's asking what does "holding back one's speed" mean. I actually had the same question. I am not familiar with the language of car racing. In the article he is quoted as saying:
Do you think anyone's holding back their speed at IMS during quals? Do you think anyone's holding back?
^^What does that mean?
He continues:
And that person had replied 'there aren't any 'blank' in this race."
Now that I have read this more, it does not seem as innocuous as I originally believed, but I still don't think someone should lose a job over it. JMO

He had to be cut. He was a practice squad player who was recently charged with domestic violence. In addition, he and his brother Zay Jones of the Buffalo Bills were in the news a few months ago for some other issue. We don't need that distraction.
