Well, Bobby Okereke is the 7th highest graded Coverage LB this season...
Coulda, woulda, shoulda and all that, but this still points to Ballard...
ballard didnt think he was worth the money,

Spot on. They are properly taking Leonard out on 3rd and long, unfortunately Zaire is also worthy of replacing. Zaire has value but reminds of Anthony Walker. Z makes more plays but also is often beaten by a step.
LB'S that can cover are special.
zaire leads the league in tackles for gains!!

I wasn't really making a statement with my question. I'm just wondering if we've yet played any offense that's considered really good.
For as long as I can remember. Our defense manages to give up enough points at the wrong times in tight games to lose. There have been some defensive stands here and there, but its generally whimpered when opponents step on the gas.
We had no dominant pass rusher and a rookie/young secondary going into the season. I'm surprised anybody thought that the defense would be good.
ballard must have, he signed this talent

The good thing about those loses is that we are losing in all the most predictable ways - namely at the spots we are horribly understaffed/injured at - QB, outside corner...
It means that IMO we have something at HC with Steichen and scheme... at least offensively. We just need better talent at certain spots. And we might already have it(but they are injured - AR, Brents, etc.)
This roster needs work, but the areas of concern are relatively well defined. IMO this should not be a hard job for Ballard to figure out. Lets see if he does it next off-season.
he has failed for 7 years , cant pick wrs or pass rushers or cbs

Minshew isn’t exactly the reason we’re giving up a ton of points. Might have something to do with a secondary made up of middle school players.
ballard liked his secondary draft picks

Brown and Baker might be two of the worst cornerbacks in NFL…you seriously can get guys off the streets to give you what those guys give you…
what did ballard see in them

What the are the you talking about? He can barely run 2 plays. Gardner Minshew is not a good quarterback End of story.

Leonard was elite
Buckner is elite
Grover is elite
Kenny Moore is playing as good as any other slot corner.
but the defense has other holes that are gaping.
no pass rush or cbs

Offense, not too shabby. 20 points in the first half.
Defense? Missing Stewart and our starting CBs is showing. Inexperience is obvious. I’ve never loved Gus Bradley’s schemes. I think he’s gone at seasons end.

They keep talking Franklin up but is it really a big deal to get tackles on a team that tackles after 7 yards ?
tackles for loss is what matters

Not the point. We got cheated last week so why would anyone in here complain if we get a call or 2? It's not fixed right? or even altered right?
we have zero pass rush and our cbs leave people wide open

Hea in a contract year. He wants stats. He knows right now his value for next year is totally dependent upon what he does this year. Stats or not, Pittman is who he is. A possession receiver with no wow factor.
he needs to get open if he wants more targets

That just seems ridiculous to me, the take of "We have enough points." especially with how big of the group on this site that say "Take the points when you can." You trust your team Matt Gay has been great this year at long FGs, and we have a great OL. You take that chance.
ballard is paying for a great o-line but he does not have one

To counter yes if these players were healthy but they lost one rookie already and we’re going to probably lose another one for a while. At some point we need to fill these holes with a vets. It seems like you always have a rebuttal at any Ballard criticism here lol.since when is any season about playing kids? all teams try to win their division every year and did the front office say this season was about playing the kids? some one made that up in their own mind.

Man watching Miami vs Phily
Miami went for it fourth down and the WR had his facemask grabbed mid play. No flag. Yet Baker and Cooper run into each other on play where there wasn’t even a pass and a flag.
I know the NFL won’t do anything because fans are going to watch regardless but I really wish they would work on consistency with the officials.
does the nfl check the refs for gambling habits
