I know… I’m not doing a good job of hiding it lol. My mom told me the news on my way home from work and I immediately got on the forum when I got home to see what my “Colts family” was saying about it.

I’m sad with the others who find it surprising and/or sad.

I’m sad about the ones who are saying it’s just business and it was time to move on.

I understand all the different points of view given, but it all just makes me more sad the more I read. There have been some players on our team that I grew attached to as a fan, and Shaq was certainly one of them. I don’t care if he was just a cheerleader on the sidelines lol, I would never want to see him NOT apart of the Colts. I know eventually my brain will have to cope with this and I am a Colts fan for life no matter what. Just feeling really down about it is all

    I am sad too

Man, Leonard’s rookie season, I marvelled about him from the getgo and 4 games in said he’s going to win defensive rookie of the year.  His first two season were magical and he kept playing like a star in year 3.  He was deserving of the big contract extension!

Then Shaq came along and was never what Darius was. I hoped he could return to form, but once he started airing his grievances in public, I figured he was for sure gone after the season.  A bit shocked it came fast like this, though.

What a sad two year ending for a guy that looked like he was going to be a HOF’er.  Hope we can find another like Darius with a 2nd or 3rd rounder, once again.  All the best to Leonard.

he may still be a hall of famer just not for us thank you ballard

Thanks.   I still find it interesting that it would appear that most here like Franklin but no longer like Shaq.   One is ranked 61, the other is 62.

Just an observation that may only interest me and my unconventional mind.

franklin is good at tackles for gains i would like to see more tackles for losses from him

He’s been vocal and open about what has been holding his play back. He’s puts the onus on the scheme and the coaching for his lack of Shaq plays. Even if a team just got him at 50% and re-negotiated his deal at 50% they’re still getting a nice blue chip prospect bet.

He hasn’t been bad this season by and large. The Patriots game was his worst, and I’ll give him that, but he’s not yet a spare parts worthless player, or a guy who is just a total liability while he’s out there.

imo he can help some team win it all. hopefully not the texans

This is earlier than expected. I had recently said that I didn’t see him on this team in 2024, but I thought they’d wait till after the season. There must be something related to cap savings that made them move on in the middle of the season.

I honestly think this was best for both parties. This is part of the game. Most teams have to make tough choices and let popular players go. KC traded Tyreek Hill over like a $4 million dollar difference in numbers IIRC. Minnesota traded Diggs, etc… this is a regular part of business in the NFL.

I wonder if this is a change in philosophy long term as well. I wonder if they’re going to be more selective on who they bring back and extend. That’s why I’m not looking at this and saying that this guarantees that Pitt, Moore, Blackmon, and Stewart are all back now. This is actually a sign of growth as a GM for Ballard by being able to move on from his “guys”.

    good point

I'm *. This is nonsense. He was going to be MLB. When he was healthier he was the guy that showed up in the 4th quarter when we needed the turnover the most. I believe he didn't get a chance with Gus or he would've started at MLB over Olidipo when Franklin was out. So yea he didn't get a chance. The way he was playing before last year was rare talent.

there is a reason the gus defense is near the bottom in the league. he plays his scheme and expects his players to fit in instead of playing to the players talent

  7. someone in our division may  grab him and allow him to play like he did before gus came along, also ballard paid him based on his playing style before gus less aggressive soft style came along. i think gus told ballard he did not fit his system. imo gus should have went instead of shaq

Agreed. I'd switch him and Belichick's rankings. Caserio has built a good roster from nothing and we have enough info on Stroud where we can agree that he's a hit in some way. That team needs a bit of work on defense still, but it's a respectable enough team that can win the division as early as this year and try to make a playoff run. Caserio already got himself a franchise QB along with a good team in a few years, and in year 1, he had no pick in the first two rounds. That's a great GM.

caserio may have created a dynasty with the texans, he may have been partly responsible for the pats talent during their winning years

  9. I thought nick caserio would be the leader of tier one, in 2 years he has brought the texans from last in our division to fight the jags for first in our division . he has done it with with smart trades , smarter drafting and free agents and cap management . he will probably be gm of the year

I’ve seen enough Minshew to know better than to expect to make the playoffs with him, and to know what will happen even if we do. And yet the rest of the AFC is making us increasingly competitive in the standings.

    Confused Curb Your Enthusiasm GIF

we can win with minshew if our defense stops trying to lead the nfl in points allowed

This year proves otherwise. Any QB can get injured on any given play, just because they may run more than others doesn't mean they are more susceptible to injury. Look at the list. Anymore I try to post as much factual stuff as I can, because if I list an opinion one can disagree with that. Look at the QB list of Injuries, most are pass FIRST QBs. That is a fact, can't be argued.

there are a lot of very bad o-lines not pass blocking good, peyton got hurt in the pocket, luck and ar got hurt running, most qbs get hurt eventually even brady even with the dont hit brady rules

If we pick mid first round say 15-19th or so. There are 2 WRs that have stood out to me that should be there when we pick. That is Rome Odunze and Malik Nabers. Both would be fantastic additions. Marvin will go top 5 IMO, we aren't getting him.

the harrison name wont make him great. he still has to do it in the nfl.

  13. I begin each season thinking this is the season our gm has finally put together a roster that could at least win our division. I see flashes of being great from ballards roster, then in the same game they look like high schoolers. now our division is going to be the power of the nfl with the crop of young qbs  each team has drafted. we need some more elite talent to compete with them. I would like to see a big time wr for our offense and a dominating pass rusher for our defense. Those two pieces could make a big difference in our game. I dont like our soft coverage on defense but an elite pass rusher may enable our corners to not play so far off. I am looking forward to some exciting games in our division. A lot of things can happen in football and we  could still make a run for it this season.
