Yes, you may be on to something. However, SS Heather's is a nice player however, we have only seen him pick off 1 INT in his career, done this year. Heather's Isn't great in coverage at all compared to Willis. I personally would have resigned SS Farley before Geathers. I think Farley wasn't resigned do to assisting with the friendly fire injury to Hooker. Jmho.

sweet baby Jesus - that is all kids of funny and wrong.

You clearly don’t realize that Farley was brought back this year before he was cut in training camp.

And your friendly fire comment could not be be more off base.

Houston has 4 really good WR who can run routes. If you go back to KC their WR were just going to a spot on the field and were not running routes. Made them easier to defend in man. Plus Houston is healthy.

It is proper to give attribution when plagiarizing someone else’s thoughts. Steve Smith would appreciate it.

Where did you hear Dungy wanted Jones over Addai?

I have not heard that and suspect that csmopar didn't either.

What I have heard is that if MJD was there when the Colts picked in round 2, he would have been a Colt.  If I recall correctly he almost made it to Indy's pick.

Interesting draft pick analysis regarding round 1 vs 2.  Ballard seems to have a liking for round 2. and it certainly seems like our scouting dept. is very good.   If we win this Sunday, which I am having my doubts actually, but if we do I wonder if Ballard might be tempted to package our no.1 for a proven talent like Williams or Parker or Sanu for example and get a 2 back as part of the trade.  A win would definitely make us contenders and adding a strong starting caliber player might be tempting while still not losing a pick but just dropping back one round.     Just an idea that might make sense for the right player.

    Oy vey.

  5. Here is my take away from this thread.

My how times have changed from 7 days ago post Raiders loss.

Regarding the Pats - I’ve seen this movie before. Lose a game or two early in the year, get better and then come January look out. Except this time they have not lost. And is anyone really going to bet against Brady not figuring it out?

I believe the Colts are a good team. Assuming health they have a formula to win games but the season is long and I prefer hot teams at the end of the year. Who knows who will be playing well in 6-8 weeks.

So for me, I am looking forward to the Houston game in a week. Past that, not worrying about too much of anything else.

Because playing man is also very dangerous because a lot of times CBs get called for interference or they fall down on the route and its an easy td. Also your line needs to win up front and fast or else the CBs will get beat.

    Wait, what?

An issue with man to man is db’s fall down?

Not one can replace Saquon Barkley, but the Giants have to try.                                                                                                                            His sources are telling him Giants are looking for a trade partner........... The 2 questions would be would the Colts consider it and would they (at least ) try to get a early round draft pick in exchange ?

    Just...

    Dear God...

    On so many levels.

have y’all watched the patriots offense ?? lol . Like him or not Josh Mcdaniels is a top 5 offensive mind of all time.

Yes. Now I am overjoyed with Reich. He is a great play caller and leader as well. I don’t think McDaniels could touch him as a leader but I’ve wondered before what the offense would have been under JM. Seems every time I watch them they’ve schemed a receiver running wide open.

looking for more  yards tbh.  i would let one game slide but hes always been low on yards and tds for that matter.  a 190 average wont get it done in the league.  sometimes great players go that low but they have big games too and average closer to 300

a lot of people have brought up that was the game plan... the game plan needs to change if colts are going to win many games

Sweet baby Jesus that is an awful take.

They had damn near 400 yards of offense.  Clearly his passing totals were less because of how well the run was working.  If AV does his job, they score 30 points in regulation.  On top of that Brissett took them 80 yards to tie the game at the end.  You know who accepts that offensive production?  EVERY damn team in the league.

Let’s just play this game, if Ballard had 2 #1’s in the same draft with Biq Q and this kid, would CB have taken him if he had the #11 pick as well? Idk, I’m just asking and it’s only one year out so it’s not like he is a burnt out draft pick.

No clue how his board was ranked but I am aware that he is a quality young player.

But I am also aware of the investments, both financially and in picks, that Ballard has put into the secondary.  I am also aware of the value he places on picks, particularly first round picks.  He is simply not going to invest more into a position group that seems pretty stocked right now with young talent.  That 2020 first rounder will 1) stay in Indy and 2) would be willing to bet is placed in something other than a DB.

I agree.  He's the perfect "Ballard" guy.  Unlike some of the FA's he looked at or other players that have become available he fits all of his boxes and he's signed through 2020.  An inexpensive addition.   A young proven player and a difference maker IMO for an unproven draft pick.  No doubt in my mind.  Ballard should go and get him.

The perfect Ballard guy is one he drafts.  Not one that he has to give up draft picks to get.  This will sink in eventually.

Oh come on the guy's versatility speaks for itself and he tackles well something we could use.

    Completely ridiculous.

In a year where there is at least a modicum of uncertainty about the QB position, the Colts are not going to give up a # 1 pick for Fitzpatrick.   They sure as hell are not going to give up a 1 and a 2 for him, of this I am 10,000% sure.

The only reason I'm asking is because if there's a quarterback who might be able to keep the cancerous brown under control, that guy might be Brissett, a guy known for leadership, with a reputation for a big arm, on a strong team, and quite frankly, since AB is gaining a reputation as a racist, i think he might prefer catching passes from a guy of his own skin color.

We have the cap space, we have the roster, we have one of the few QBs in the league AB actually has a chance to get along with -- I'm not even saying do it because I don't like the guy personally, but it might make us a better team so you have to at least consider it.  Would the talent be worth it or would he blow what's generally considered to be a pretty tight clubhouse to pieces with his behavior?  I dunno.

I just think this is one of his better chances to actually make a home for himself at this point, if he's too radioactive even for the team that signed Vontaze Burfict it may be too big of a gamble though

    1) dear god

    2) this thread was 100% predictable

    3) the logic that Brissett is the guy to keep him under control - oy vey

Ballard and Reich have nearly said Brissett is better than Luck... but we all know he´s not. He's Not.

    That is strike 1.

    43 minutes ago, ThorstenDenmark said:

What their master plan is though is full tank mode to get the first pick next year and next year again to get Trevor Lawrence and build a great defence.

And there is strike # 2

    43 minutes ago, ThorstenDenmark said:

Brissett won't meet our expectations and I honestly believe we will lose a lot of games with him as our QB.

No matter how much praise they throw our way about him, he´s no Andrew Luck and only a second ranked QB. If he really were a starter, then teams would have traded for him.

New England threw him away, because they didn't see any starter potential in him.

And a swing and a miss for strike 3. You’re out!

..... There's a trade in the works. He said this yesterday on Twitter.

I very seriously doubt he knows anything.

Plus it just makes no sense.  What QB is out there worth giving up a pick to get? What have we seen from Ballard to suggest that he'd give up a pick, especially when he can just sign a vet like Hoyer?

Rumor has it they are already working on it. I would give him two years. He needs a raise in pay because the backup they bring in is going to be making 2 to 3 times more.

Where did you hear this rumor?

  17. 7 hours ago, Colts1324 said:

I wrote out an entire post yesterday about this, but never ended up posting it.

His contract ends at the end of the season, so both sides have to come to an agreement. We are desperate and can't afford to get into a bidding war next off-season.

If I were Ballard, I would extend him NOW on a 3-year deal. Maybe something like 3 year, 40 Million with incentives up to 50 million.

If he balls out, we get a steal of a deal. If he plays subpar, we still have a great backup at less than $15 million a year to help mentor a young guy.

Why would Brissett take this deal?  If he does play well, which I am 100% sure he is planning to, he is immediately underpaid by about $10 million per year.

I can see the dolphins trying to get in on this. They have three first round picks now.

That is clearly NOT what they are doing.  They are acquiring picks - not giving them away.
