I don't think it was all Pagano's fault but the late clock issue was all on him.  I was at the game and it was very frustrating at times.  I know you need to score in that situation but I was hoping for the first down on 3rd and 4 then the TD.  The timeout did not need to be called.  The defense was very frustrating.  Those two running backs did whatever they wanted.  I didn't think the corners did horrible considering the fact that we have so many hurt.  They obviously will be better with Robinson, Cromartie and Davis.  The D line struggled, hopefully they get better when Anderson and/or Jones comes back.  I am not holding my breathe though.  When your offense scores 35 points and Luck has 400 passing yards, 4 TD's and 0 Int's no way you should lose at home.  The offense did start slow but they scored enough to win.  Unfortunately, I think the Colts will be 0-2 for the third straight year unless the defense can force a few turnovers and stop C.J. Anderson.  I think the offense will hold their own.  I know it's week 1 and everyone overreacts with a loss but that defense is bad right now.  I did like what I saw from the offensive line.

The LB corp is undisciplined cannot hold any spot and you are right they allowed the lions RB to go anywhere they wanted on the field

Again, it wasn't a gaffe. Pagano stated that the Colts had personnel issues so they had to use the timeout. In that situation, you do everything you possibly can do to score.

Tell me, if the Colts don't score on that drive and Pagano later says it was because they had personnel issues, what would be your reaction? I'm willing to bet you'd be roasting Pagano for not taking that timeout to get things in order.

Okay he is not saying not take the TO if correct he is saying let the clock run down then take the TO or force the lions to take a TO

Sio Moore & Freeman together in our 4-2-5 would have been a serious upgrade over what we may be Forced to watch.
Morrison in on 3rd and long yesterday was and will Forever be a JOKE!

    A Gimmee!

the LB cor is a complete mess, watched DQ tell Mcnary about a play and the play was coming to him and Mcnary got blew up and detroit scored, they had better fix this

  4. I really think everyone has missed the point here if your a HC and you know you have a make shift and depleted DB that are tired and pulling up gassed and have no energy left you just  dont call the TO, you force the other team to call the TO, Would the colts of scored yes I think so they were doing pretty darn good that 4th quarter, The colts needed to force the lions to call all their TO before they took control of the ball with 34 seconds or however many seconds would of been left. This would of made the lions one dimensional this would of forced the lions to throw to the sideline to stop the clock this way all you had to do was defend the sideline not the entire field. instead the colts called a TO with 1.15 left then on the next play if correct the play was under review and when the play resumed instead of running the clock down luck snapped the ball right away and the colts scored nothing wrong with that but not enough time elapsed. On the kick off instead of a pooch kick they instead tried to kick it into the next county again no time off the clock. So instead the Colts coaching staff relied on a Tired defense and a makeshift DB corp to stop the lions who needed a FG and their start point was at their own 25 with 34 seconds and a whole field at their disposal and 3 TO.  So as I said not very good clock management the next three weeks they need to use the clock to their advantage until they are at full strength on defense. But the game is over and it is what it is. On to Denver

  5. I was impressed on how the offenses played after the first quarter, IMOP the Colts need to play a up tempo style of game from the beginning it gets the players involved in the game, Even though I like gore I would rather see Ferguson in their a little more often he can get you a few more yards from what I can see, Gore is more of a punishing kinda of back. The O-line had a shakey start but did settle down which was good considering mewhort is still mending. Center is a rookie RG this is his first year and he handled Nagata pretty good Reitz was good at RT, The one that concern me is LT a lot of money went his way for him to get pushed around like he did yesterday Also believe they do need to stay with the run block a little longer for gore.. The colts started to run a 3 WR Combo which became a good threat need to keep working on it, the lions were playing 8 in a box and luck was biting on it. As for the defense not much can be said they looked tired at the end out of control at times no containment on the edges, no pass rushing. And probably should of paid freeman for one more year to help the LB corp because to be honest the LB corp were totally undisciplined allowing the RB to run free, Now saying that the upside is in a couple of weeks the colts should get back Anderson and Arthur Jones and hope they can keep their DB and Safeties healthy.

  6. As i said in the tread earlier in the week this game would come down to clock management due to our defense being down players, It was crucial for Luck after the review to allow the clock run down as much as possible before throwing the TD pass. Also ST coach should of had a swift kick to allow at least 5 seconds to run off if anything this would of allowed lions to burn their timeouts which by then would of forced the lions to throw to the outside to get out of bounds. this would of limited their options.  So yes the defense could of should of stopped them but when you allow a team with 34 seconds and 3 TO left to do what they want and not limit their options then more then likely you will loose, So again poor clock management

  7. Well you will not see Arthur Jones until week 5, Hopefully Anderson comes back next week because you are playing in denver and you do need to rotate the front 4 I think ridgeway could be a good player but the lack of pressure from the front four is horrible and the run defense is nowhere to be found. Mathis is a no show watched him during the game he has lost a step and cannot get anywhere near a QB. Bright spot was Moore did good in coverage and pursuit, better hope to get some of this DBs back soon. I hope from what i saw from the offense in the 2nd 3rd and 4th will trend to next week.

  8. IMOP and I am not trying to be negative. Personally right now i do not care who is playing on the offensive line next man up it all comes down to if the O-line can open holes for gore and the RB, Clock management for this game will be crucial and the colts will need to establish some sort of identity on offense and defense which can propel them into the season, This next few weeks will tell us a lot about this team and also help get some of the injured players healthy, Someone had made a comment earlier about maybe starting 3 safeties this game. The lions sure would not expect it  but something to look at maybe not a good idea but at least the lions will have to change a few things up.  I am a Colts fan true and blue stuck with them through the baltimore days, They need to go out their on this first game and not p---y foot around and kick some butt. Otherwise I could see the colts playing catch up and have no run game.

  9. And for anyone else who would like to keep this thread going sorry to burst anyone bubble the only other way peyton would become GM or even the possiblity of being a HC in the next 2 years would be for irsay to allow peyton to buy into the colts franchise.

  10. Totally agree give him a couple of years to play golf and do commercials then he would come back, sorry Iam not disagreeing with anybody here  I just dont think anyone would hire him to come in and be a GM or a HC or even a DB coach to start they would ask to be a QB coach so he could learn the ropes and work his way around.

  11. not really worried my concerns are the penalties the players are making to many mistakes hope they can fix it, On offense they have a week and a half to prepare for the lions need to figure out the line. who do you plug in for mewhort, will it be reitz or do you go with blythe who played the after mewhort went down, do you keep clark in because reitz is still banged up, Haeg is still banged up with a ankle injury still needs to hit the weights a little, AC has been a complete disater these last 2 years does anyone know of any reason what is going on with him and his technique. You have to play the O-line next week to see if they can cut down on the mental mistakes, Now as for the defense you rest them for next week they should be ready for week one if not at least a majority will be but they should be at full strenght by week 2.

  12. Kelly looked like a rookie against a all pro line man, but if you noticed that same lineman could not could not get the same push rush against our RG  so it well take some time but kelly well work out. On  the other Hand Castanzo got his butt handed to him time after time last night, I liked how Blythe looked when he took over over for Mewhort and Clark had his troubles at RT but expected for a rookie but they have 15 days to get this guys playing together
