and I'm wondering if it's Luck calling out of run plays into pass plays or they O is just getting pass happy. Hard to tell.

IMOP I think he is going by what is called because if he is calling out of run plays on 3rd and 2 then someone needs to sit him down because the right side was dominating the Houston defense last night for 3 to 4 yards a clip. That what I could not understand Gore was doing some good cutbacks but in the 4th they decided it was time to go and start passing the Houston defense was playing a run Blitz but their are plays the colts have to get out of that situation I am sure, like pitches or screens. 3 step drop slants. But not 15 yard hitch or out patterns.

I wonder how much the injuries to the receivers and Allen played a part in what happened late in the game. Maybe the Texans D knew the Colts were thin there and had the chance to tee off finally.

No the colts could still run the ball they choose not to and got away from it again, They were getting chunks against a tired Houston defense, And started to play pass happy again with the game on the line instead of picting the ball and cut back runs

  3. I have defended chuck in the past on some issues and thought last year he should of gotten another chance due to lack of talent. But I for one would have to agree time for him to step down. Going to prevent with 5 minutes left in the game baffled me The coaches could of used more blitzes on Houston because it was working. The only that hurt the Defense was they did not stay in their lanes for the cut backs, Hence lack of discipline. Really should of took the points on the 4th down play but if you were going to go for it why in world are you going to run the ball to the right when Houston was stacking the left side of their line absolutely no imagination on this team and then you are running your QB. I for one still do not understand why this coach or coaches continues sending in plays on 3rd down and 3 or 2 for a 10 or 15 yard out pattern. what is wrong with the three step drop or a quick draw how about a pitch, maybe a few screens just to keep them off balance wait a minute how about a trick play something to keep Houston off balance or any team for that fact.

  4. IMOP You have a rookie at RT in only his 2nd game did pretty good in the first half, Good at RG who was basically playing in his 3rd game got beat on a couple of stunts and a center who is also a rookie. Kelly will be able to eventually help the line by pointing out were the blitz are coming from, this in turn will help the line pick it up and help luck. Good and Haeg need a couple more games together and practices in order to feel each other weakness and strength. Now that said in the 2nd half the colts got away from the run game when the QB drops back 50 times during the game and starts throwing routes of 15 to 20 yards and is holding the ball 6 to 8 seconds what would you expect. The bears were coming after luck in the second half with blitz after blitz and luck did not use his hot routes or draw plays and or any screens. Do not know who you fault for that but I do know the first half the holes were open and the line was protecting. The 2nd half the run disappeared the Bears blitzed and stunted and the colts did not adjust. So I am not going to go after the line for what I saw a very good performance in the first half. If their is no adjustments.

    Offense:

    QB

    Luck                            87.4       High Quality

    WR

    Ty Hilton                      81.1       Above Average

    Donte Moncrief            74.6      Average

    Phillip Dorsett              56.1       Poor

    Chester Rogers           46.7       Poor

    TE

    Jack Doyle                   71.6       Average

    Eric Swoope                 57.9       Poor

Dwayne Allen               52.1       Poor          Run blocking is worst by far of TE's.  Next cut?  I vote yes

    RB

Robert Turbin               64.8       Below Average          His pass blocking is much better than Gore and Ferguson

Frank Gore                   62.6      Below Average          His pass blocking is graded worst among RBs by sizeable margin

Josh Ferguson             55.1       Poor                           Best receiver - Worst runner

    OT

Anthony Castonzo        81.5        Above Average        Pass and run blocking are graded about the same

Joe Haeg                      67.0        Below Average         Best run blocking OT, not so much on pass

LeRaven Clark              60.2       Below Average          Pass and run blocking are graded about the same

Joe Reitz                       43.5        * Poor                 Worst at pass and run.  Please cut him Grigson.  He sucks.

    OG

Jack Mewhort                82.6        Above Average         Pretty good at both pass and run blocking

Jonotthan Harrison        48.3        Poor                          Horrible pass blocker

Denzelle Good               47.9       Poor                          Much better run blocker than pass

Austin Blythe                  36.6       Puke                          Enough said

    C

    Ryan Kelly                     71.6        Average                     Pass block = 75.5  Run Block = 53.3

So, looks like we are pretty well set at QB,  (2)WR, LT, LG, C

Need to cut veterans that are suppose to be setting the tone for rookies, but are failing miserably (Allen and Reitz)

At least start Doyle over Allen

Offensive line should probably be  Castonzo  Mewhort  Kelly  Good  Haeg

See if Good and Haeg get better.  If not, switch positions.  If that doesn't work.  Its back to draft and FA.

Where exactly did you come up with this analogy

that he would like to see Luck make changes at line. Like when it looks like a blitz is coming make adjustments accordingly.

He said it seems like whatever play is called in, Luck just goes with it.

I was talking about that earlier and got my butt handed to me for stating that

It's been that way for years. The answer we got earlier this season was they couldn't do it because they needed to protect the defense with all the replacements in there and didn't want to tire them out with quick 3 and outs, etc.   The defense was near completely healthy today however so that excuse doesn't fly.  The real answer is because Pagano can look at something over and over, but regardless of what evidence he sees, he wants to stick with his philosophy on how things should be. He's a terrible coach imo.

Totally with you no excuse but if your ahead it helps your defense because the other team has to play catch up. more often than not they make a mistake. Not to mention you can play hurry up and still take time off the clock. seen it done before. To me that is total garbage and just bad coaching. If you have a good QB and WR use them to your advantage.

  8. What I don t understand some of you say we have a bad o-line. I don t see it we have 3 rookies playing. A player in his 2nd year and a LT who is overpaid. But you have a coaching staff who has a game plan of power running and deep routes, A QB who holds the ball 6 to 7 seconds instead of screens pitches and slants and roll outs. So if you want to help the o-line adjust then give them something to work with.  And yes this team is terrible and I don t know if they can rebound or if they believe in Chuck

  9. The scouting report from Jacksonville was not to let the colts go deep and try to double up on TY, They also knew the colts were scripted on running the ball the first few plays of the game. The colts instead should of went with the underneath passes more screens and slants not to mention some pitches which i saw very few of, So if chuck and the coaches made this game plan and stuck with it shame on them. Also the coaches were aware of the o-line and all the rookies playing and instead of helping luck the hindered luck by allowing luck to stay in the pocket and not able do any roll outs again shame on them. Also the coaches were aware that bortles when outside of the pocket was dangerous instead of putting a spy on him they allowed him to get out of the pocket and carve the defense up for yardage which dearly cost them. I have defended chuck this past few years but the fans have been calling for the no huddle offense for the past 2 years because they know the slow starts are killers and the Colts needed to get some sort of  rhythm going and if the coaches havent figured this out by now then yes their is a promblem with the coaching staff. You cannot wait until the end of the 3rd or the beginning of the 4th quarter to start the hurry up offense and expect luck to win it every time.

  11. IMO yes should of been able to run the ball for a half a yard I don t know exactly what the play was called on the field, And no i am not blaming the o-line today Jacksonville was not going to let the colts throw downfield and the coaches knew exactly what they had today and instead of throwing underneath and throwing to the flats or even doing some pitches they instead stayed with throwing deep routes or running up the middle.  Now on the blitz were luck was sacked he did not read the defense also the center kelly also should of picked it up but he is a rookie and he is learning, But  i am sick of luck not able to read a blitz or changing a play to a hot route. On a 3rd and eight luck throws it 20 yards down the field into double coverage, on a 1st and 10 he hands off for a 1 yard loss if he would of looked to his left the man in the slot was wide open for a 5 maybe 6 yard gain. Look I am not saying it is all lucks fault because luck has won plenty of games with is ability but he has to play smart football and he left a lot on the field today.

  12. Haeg should be starting at RG or RT like his foot work.

Kelly was a Good pick in the first still learning to read a defense but is looking out for Andrew.

Ferguson good on the outside if they can pitch to him more.

Clark is a project see how he turns out next year.

Blythe is still learning good backup at center or Guard but is coming along well could be a starter on another team.

Ridgeway not flashy but has his moments lets see in a couple of games when he gets the scheme down and works beside anderson who will draw a lot of double teams.

Green projected as a project this year shoved into action has grew up fast and has done good, Excellent hitter move Geathers into a hybrid LB in some cases could benifet the team.

As for the rest Morrison is a good run stopper but needs to work on pass coverage after three games he has been torched numerous times, Enough said their.

Maggit have not seen enough of him yet.

Gore had 21 carries so his carry count was up. At his age he has to be on a snap count. Ferguson and Turbin had 5 carries while Ferguson had 3 catches. Just because Gore had 50 yards in the first half doesn't mean we can run his legs off. Ferguson is not the type of runner to pound.

Sorry was not really talking about Gore alone the Colts was in control of the line of scrimmage in the first half. But in the second half went to throwing the ball instead of sticking with the run game,

  14. Does not matter where the Colts play right now they need to worry about playing 60 minutes of football, well at least 30 minutes. To many mistakes the first 3 games cost the colts a possible 2-1. The offense needs to clean it up. The defense looks like it is getting healthier which is good. Divisonal games are coming up Jacksonville will be tough play no matter where we play them, So they need to focus on that control, the tempo and if the run is working use it, What was that yesterday Gore had over 50 yards first half and the next thing you know luck was throwing it everywhere.

  15. Good has the quicker feet so he might go back to playing RT, Haeg did do good job at RG did open some holes but needs to add a couple of pounds IMO, Blythe is still a little rough but is learning did good in spelling Mewhort, Cannot go to wrong with either Haeg or Good at RT or RG, But Reitz needs to sit until healthy.
