Ballard drafted 2 all pros in one draft.    That is a lot to live up to.    Hopefully the fan base doesn't expect that every year,  or ever again.    He had an awesome year this year.   Almost impossible to repeat

Once every 53 years. And look, DL wears #53. Spooooooky.

I remember those days well. haha I think I remember your name too unless you used a different one then, we had so many posters back then there. And yeah those were some wild forum days at that place. Loaded with Pats fans to the core and we did fight hard at times with little moderation around. lmao

Fun times though even if it used to get frustrating. And the prayer threads etc. lmao Just the long long bumped up threads in general.

As for our current coaching search I have not really paid attention to the details. The one I wanted and was ready to go all on board with for years was Jim Harbaugh but we know this isn't going to happen so it's not worth even getting into.

For the rest of them.........I guess I will get on board with whomever is hired or try to give him a fair shot. I don't know enough about some of the coaches on the list either to really give a fair answer.

McDaniels is kinda overrated IMO. So I don't know how I feel about this one, I am kinda iffy on Patriots people since often times it doesn't always carry out on other teams.

Also you are not wrong, back in those days we didn't want ANYTHING to do with any Pats coaches and did say we wanted to win the fair way etc.

Mannings Army was the principle NE troll if I recall correctly. More of a spoof account really. That is what made me switch to this forum, around 2004.....

    Really?

The Colts, and their fans, were all kinds of lucky to have had Bill Polian here.  Was he perfect?  No.  Was he great at his job?  Without question.

The guy managed three different franchises — one of which was an expansion club — to SB appearances.  He completely deserved the HOF nod he got, IMO.

Blows my mind that there are Colts fans who don’t like Polian...especially after suffering his successor.

You are right, he certainly wasn't 'perfect'. I never said he wasn't good for this franchise, in the early days at least, but I did not like him. Each to their own, Pony.

So....    I'm sitting in my car this morning listening to NFL Network radio,  and on comes a promo....   it's Polian on a recent NFL Network radio appearance and he's talking about Darius...

Now,  I'm going to quote him,  but I'm sure I won't get every word right.    But pretty darn close.    You'll get the idea pretty quick....

And he says....     "Derrick Brooks made the Hall of Fame playing this Tampa 2 defense and Darius Leonard is going to be better than Derrick Brooks, MARK MY WORDS!    In the years to come,  when the Colts are the featured Nationally televised game of the week,  and everyone sees just how great Darius Leonord is,  they're going to realize he's a future Hall of Famer."

There might be a little more, and I might be a word off here and there,   but this was the gist of it...

Darius Leonard --- Future Hall of Famer!     Thanks, Bill!      The Colts can't buy that kind of advertising.   We'll take it!

    :colts:

Thanks NFC. Personally I could not give a perfect season for what he says, but I know we have some posters who still like him.

Who would you have ranked higher in drafting this year if not the Colts?

Well, Cleveland have three in the top ten. Other teams can pick good players too. I"m happy with our lot.

I’d say about 2009, week 15, just after beating the Jags on Monday night and getting to 14-0. Last time I’ve been so optimistic about Colts football. Even then though, you knew it’d be short lived with everyone getting older. Now is different, we haven’t even begun to peak.

Unfortunately at that stage the Polian whispers were already out that we were going to tank and rest the starters, therefore I was already fearing the worst.

Sorry was that offensive? England has seen their fair share of raiders from the Danes to the Normans etc. Even the piracy moniker works, so the name has historical significance and makes sense. It's not like the the LA Lakers where there are no lakes.

No, just stupid. I'm assuming you meant no offense.

I am stunned.. Leonard 3rd in DROY but in 7th for DPOY and is the first rookie on the the DPOY list.  Makes no sense to me at all.

That is a puzzler. If it's the same voters, how can he be better as a DPOY than a DROY? Me thinks I smell a rat. And if it is different voters for the different categories, it makes no sense. Not a major issue mind you......especially if he nabs a ring!

Why break with tradition? London has had some stinker games.

I was at the Colts v Jags a few years ago. Not a great game, but an all time classic compared to this year's road game. In other words, the location is irrelevant regarding the quality of the contest.
